Default Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

I watched a trailer for it last night. OH. MY. GIDDY. GOD.

I'll try and find it so you can see, it's done like a hollywood movie trailer, and my word, it's looks freakin' awesome!

It's been my main reason for wanting a PS3 when it was first announced, but with all the set backs and waiting for it, I kinda gave up on buying a PS3, but now, after seeing the trailer and knowing the release date for it isn't far away, I'm definately going to get my hands on both the game and console.

I really can't wait.

I love MGS lol.

Hmm might just want to pretend Haze doesn't exist tbh.

MGS4 should be GOTY Matieo but you know that will end up going to the overrhyped GTA.

Soo true actually...I still haven't beaten GTA, I've been playing CoD all this time, the game just lacks 'real' replay value. Or maybe it just sucks in comparison to Vice City and San Andreas that might be it.

Doesn't anyone else get the same feeling i get?

The MGS games have always just been about fighting against the clunky controls to get to the next cut scene. I have all of them, and in every single game he's stuck in a bunch of extra complicated controls just for the heck of it and by the 3rd one it just wasnt fun to play. I still went through the whole thing to see what happened, but I still think the first game is the best.

Also, each story has gotten more and more ridiculous. With more and more lalalalalalaed characters.

MGS4 looks like it's continuing both of those things. As a result, i'm not interested in it at all.

No

Just seen this News: MGS4 has '90 minute' cut-scenes - ComputerAndVideoGames.com 90 minute cut scenes, pure brilliance.

It's the only game I know of that you can sit and watch the cutscenes like a movie.

To be honest, I dont know why Kojima doesn't just make an animated movie. He's far better at it than he is at making the game parts.

The game parts are pure brilliance so thankfully he does both.

Metal Gear Solid 4: MGS4 Has 90-Minute Cutscenes [UPDATE]

Well there we go. All i needed to know about it.

For anyone who doesn't bother clicking links, the game will feature cut scenes that are sometimes as long as 90 MINUTES.

I'm getting more and more alienated from this game the more i hear about it. I really loved the first one. But as the series goes on it goes more and more away from playing a game to watching a film. A film with convoluted stories and stupid characters.

Not that they're all stupid of course. The characters in the first game were all great.

The controls are really simple.

Actually the hardest to control I found was MGS1, mainly because of no first person view.

Anyways:

MGS: Great game, loved it.
MGS2: Dissapointed with Snake's gameplay not lasting that long, but again good story, enjoyed it alot.
MGS3: Best so far, great story, great gameplay.

Wow, people really don't rate MGS2 highly jus' because of Raiden and not playing as Snake more often? that's why Substance was released with seperate chapters from the main story that showcases Snakes time in the Big Shell.

I thought MGS1 was the best soo far, and MGS2 being a close second...story in MGS2 left me thinking for years, it was soo brilliant...

I didn't enjoy playing as Raiden instead of Snake but I did love the story of MGS2.

Why? his story is actually quite good in detail. He's not as hard or as 'legendary' as Snake, and I do love Snake more than any other character in MGS (Maybe Ocelot as a close second), but Raiden isn't that bad, I don't know why people are soo picky.

I just didn't like him, I found him annoying. Not enough to stop me playing the game though I'd gladly go through it again with him, just prefer to be snake.

Yeah true, fair enough...can't wait for this MGS4 though, got the LE pre-ordered and everything.

Anyone have a favourite moment in MGS? (or MG overall)

*Spoilers for those who haven't played the games*

Warning! Spoiler Below:
When Grayfox is confronting Metal Gear Rex in the first Solid game at the end, and he gets pushed up against the wall with Rex's mouth piece, and Liquid says "In the Middle East we don't hunt foxes, we hunt jackals. Instead of fox hounds we use royal harriers." and Grayfox legendary reply, "A cornered fox is more dangerous than a jackal!" and blows off Rex's UAV.

I have others, but this one is probably my favourite...

I probably do but it's been so long since I've played 1 or 2 I just can't remember them.
