yes im new to these forums haha, but ive been looking at the conversations on here about XBOX 360 and PS3, and they can only go up to 24 players?! i expected more! but i was asking you guys whats the cheapest computer that will handle this type of game, cause im not good with picking out PCs. please help guys cause i wanna get into the fight with 64 players!!

Also i have an older computer that runs battlefield 2, 2142, and sims 3 pretty well, i will prolly never play these games again, but if i delete these will i be able to download BF# on that computer or will it be to old of a PC? this is what my PC has on it

COMPAQ Presario
512MB
200MB, 7200 RPM hard drive
AMD Athlon XP processor
NVIDIA Geforce 4 MX graphics\and installed direct x 11

Regarding what we've seen so far from BF3 and playing it with 64 players, "cheap" and "PC" will not fit in this context.

Define cheap. I would say you would need to spend about one thousand US dollars or less; including mouse, keyboard, OS, Microsoft office, etc..

Other than that, no news on official system requirements.

What's your Budget?

Do you already have a Monitor or any parts you plan on reusing?

What detail do you want to play at?

EDIT: Remember a good general rule when building a PC is; For every 100$ you add to the budget your performance will increase exponentially.

Amd's Llano's APU's just came out so you should be able to save a hell lot of money and still have acceptable detail and frames.

I'm pretty sure the Geforce4 MX isn't a DX11 card! =P

And you'll need Windows 7 for DX11, also a minimum of Vista just to even play the game (XP not supported)

You'll probably want something on the lines of;
Win7 64bit
4GB RAM
Nvidia 400/500 series - ATI 5xxx/6xxx series GFX cards
And a Quad Core processor. (AMD is the cheaper option and they're great little workers!)

This shouldn't break the bank so long as you look around for some deals. But there certainly won't be a real CHEAP way to play BF3... unless you want to play it at Low/Medium settings.

Good luck! =)

I had that card integrated into a Shuttle PC, it could barely run a quake based paintball game

This is true - so long as his monitor is good.

If he has a 17" 1280x720, or a large 30-40" TV he might as well go for one of the consoles seen as the resolutions will be the same.

Plus consoles come 'as is' and take little to no maintenance, so if he's not comfortable with basic troubleshooting then he might find the less stressful option a better fit.

Still, there's no denying that the PC version will look waaaay prettier!

@yourself1015

Personally I'd get it on the PS3 because I prefer the controller. But it's up to you.

All under 800 dollars. Just be sure you are buying a new PC for more than BF3 because paying 870 dollars to play one game isnt very smart

64 players isnt enough a reason to spend that much especially when your PS3-360 graphics will rival a PC medium graphics regardless of what people say. belive me how pretty the game is wont matter when you are fighting to stay alive and both platforms have their moments since te game will be optimized more than BC2 was

Good luck

People say things for a reason, 700 dollars will easily get you something better than console graphics

I don't know the prices in the USA, but in Europe 700 Dollars would be about 480 Euro (But the dollar has lost so much value, I guess you can get something better in the USA )

with 480 Euro you could build a PC yourself and you get a beast (compared to the majority of all PC-Gamers) which contains 4GB Ram, a Phenom II X4 955 and a HD 6800.

And when you buy games for pc in future, you would save money in the end.
Just as an example: Steam Sale till 10. July
The Steam Summer Camp Sale
