Can't sign into EA Servers

When I try to connect to the EA servers one of two things happens:

1) "THE EA SERVERS ARE NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. PLEASE TRY AGAIN LATER."

2) It lets me connect and my EAsportsworld.com avatar loads in the corner. I go to play a game and it lets me pick a team (sometimes I am able to go to READY but most of the time I can't) but then says the connection has been lost!

I have been playing online for ~2 weeks I think and it was working perfectly. Earlier today it was letting me play matches but I kept losing my connection (happened about 6 times in a row).

I am wondering is it just me or my area or is everyone having problems? I'm from Ireland by the way.

EDIT: I'm on the 360
