Default Forum Posting Tips

If you're new to the forum it's worthwhile taking the time to read this post and the forum rules in order to fit in well with the existing community members.

Everyone here is pretty friendly, but by following a few tips in your posts you'll make friends fast and have a great time on the forum!

Are you posting in the right forum? We try to ensure that forum posts are in sensible groups - each with their own board; posts relating to The Sims 2 in The Sims 2 board, fansite posts in the Fansite Forum and so on. If you're not sure where to post just include a quick line in your post to say so and most people will forgive you - a moderator can easily move it for you!

Has the question been asked already? Check the right board first and by all means use the search button to see if your question has already been answered. Posting the same questions over and over again can be annoying to everyone, so try to keep your queries in threads about the same subject.

Be patient! It will sometimes take a little while to get a post answered - especially if there aren't many people around at the time you post. Check back a few hours later, or the following day and chances are someone will have replied.

Post clearly. Using ALL CAPITALS or txt tlk makes your post harder to understand (and is against forum rules).

Keep it friendly! If someone makes unpleasant comments about you don't start arguing back. Click the "report" button next to their post and a moderator will sort them out for you. If you start arguing back you could also be in trouble - "they started it" is no excuse.

Don't go off-topic! Even in the off-topic forum try to stay on the original topic in the thread. If someone has started a thread about The Sims 2 Nightlife they don't really want to end up discussing the latest big movie.

Don't be afraid to ask for help! Use the "message" button to contact a moderator if you're ever unsure what to do on the forums. Mods are there to help!

The forum is a friendly place once you get settled in, and many users here have made good friends through talking on these boards. Follow the advice above and you'll be sure to have an enjoyable time as part of The Sims 2 UK Community.
