Use of the off-topic area

There have been a growing number of threads recently on this forum which serve only to act as "chat" posts.

As an off-topic and lively community we expect a certain number of posts which have no particular subject or point to make, however at this time we believe that worthwhile subjects are being lost by the constant "bumping" of threads with little or no relevance.

To this end we will be locking threads which do not have a specific subject, as this forum is not intended to be a chat room, it is intended as a discussion area for a wide variety of subjects.

Additionally, we will not be permitting any "games" (such as word association, or carry-on story) on this forum for the time being in order to encourage more constructive posting.

There will naturally be a period where new (and veteran!) users get to grips with this slightly more structured use of this forum, and we ask that all users avoid finger-pointing or flaming should threads crop up which are in breach of this new "rule". If you believe a post is not up to the new standard asked, please use the report button.

We will be opening one single "chat" thread for those who want to chat among themselves. Please keep all chat topics within that thread.
