Maccabi adds Tre Simmons, Dror Hagag

Maccabi Tel Aviv continued the building of its new squad with the addition of swingman Chester "Tre" Simmons for the next two seasons and Israeli point guard Dror Hagag for three seasons. Simmons (198, 26) joins the Euroleague runner-up from Hapoel Holon, where he played a key role in the club’s historic run to the Israeli championship beating Maccabi in the final. Hagag (178, 30) arrives from domestic rival Hapoel Jerusalem, where he spent the last two seasons and won two Israeli Cup titles.

Simmons is an athletic swingman with a strong basketball IQ and good outside shooting skills. He has spent the past season-and-a-half in Israel after joining Hapoel Galil Elyon in 2006 after a brief stint in Spain with Gran Canaria. Simmons played college basketball at the University of Washington, where he averaged 16 points and 4.8 rebounds per game in his senior season, earning all PAC-10 conference honors. In January 2006 Simmons signed for Greek side PAOK Thessaloniki. He averaged 15 points on 40.8% three-point shooting and 2.6 assists in 25 games for Holon last season and 19.2 points, 2 assists and 2 steals for Galil the season before.

Hagag is best known for his pesky defense, which saw him match the ULEB Cup single-game steals record with 11 against Lukoil Academic in December 2006. This will be his second stint with a Euroleague side after spending the 2005-06 season in Greece with AEK Athens. He averaged 7 points and 4.3 assists per game in the ULEB Cup last season, while in the Israeli League he produced 9.1 points and was ranked third with 4.7 assists per game. Hagag came through the ranks at the junior program of Maccabi Rishon Lezion, but didn’t break out into the senior level for many years. He spent the three seasons with Givat Shmuel, where he established himself as a legitimate first division player. Hagag’s next stop was Hapoel Tel Aviv, where he helped the team climb from the second division to the Israeli League finals within three seasons. Hagag moved to Belgian side Leuven and was one of the main reasons the club won a historic Belgian Cup title in 2005. His next stop was AEK Athens, where he ranked third in assists and steals in the Greek League, before returning to Israel with Hapoel Jerusalem. Hagag has also been a regular member of the Israeli national team, taking part in EuroBasket 2005 and 2007.

2000-2007
The new home of PAOK, the PAOK Sports Arena, able to hold 8,600 fans, was inaugurated on 17 March 2000. That marked the end of a long period of time of sharing the home court of Alexandrio Melathron with Aris. Bane Prelevic returned to PAOK after quick spells at Kinder Bologna and AEK and then quit basketball at the end of the season. He later returned to PAOK in the 2001-2002 season as an assistant coach.
PAOK finished 6th in the 2003-04 Greek A1 League season, boasting a squad full of youngsters. Prelevic become head coach and led the team into a short winning streak. A month after the start of the A1 Ethniki 2006-07 season, Prelevic was replaced by Kostas Pilafidis and assumed a non-technical position as the General Manager of the team. During a game that year PAOK and Aris put on a spectacular show that PAOK ended up winning after two overtime periods (101-99). PAOK changed coaches again in 2007 when Vangelis Alexandris took over as the team's head coach.

1990-2000
PAOK brought limitless joy to its fans by winning the European Cup Winners' Cup when PAOK defeated Zaragoza in Geneva 76-72 on March 26, 1991.
The next season PAOK reached the final again but lost to Real Madrid 63-65. The game was going to overtime, as the two teams were equal at 63 points, when Panagiotis Fasoulas lost the ball in the last 2 seconds and the Real players scored an unexpected basket. In the same year PAOK won the Greek Championship, beating out Aris and Olympiacos.
PAOK participated in the 1992-93 European Champion's Cup for the first time and managed to reach the Athens Final Four. PAOK lost in the semi final game to Benetton Treviso, which was led by superstar Toni Kukoč by a score of 77-79 .
In 1994 PAOK returned to European success by winning the Korać Cup two-leg final against Pallacanestro Trieste, winning both at home and away by 9 points. The following year PAOK won the Greek Cup in a 19 point victory against Panionios 72-53. In 1999 PAOK again won the Greek Cup by defeating AEK Athens 71-54.

PAOK Sign Giorgos Tsiaras (height 2.07) born in May 4, 1982 is a Greek basketball player currently for Olympia Larissa BC. Playing as forward, he has scoring ability.
He was a member of national teams of Greece for lower ages and won medals with them.

The Argyris Pedoulakis is the new coach of PAOK. The 44 years coach took the team PAOK in a critical and ambitious at all times, in cooperation with the first team from Thessaloniki.

The Pedoulakis Argyris was born on 26 May 1964 in Athens and began his career as an athlete of Peristeri. Agonistike group in the western suburbs from 1980 until 1986, then played in Panathinaikos (1986-1992), to return to Dove and to close his career in 1995. Nikos Boudouris, one of the great legends of Greek basketball, announced his retirement from the game Thursday at age 37. The playmaker made history as the first and only Greek player to achieve the basketball "grand slam" of winning the Cup Winners' Cup (PAOK, 1991), the Korac Cup (PAOK, 1994) and the Euroleague (Panathinaikos, 2000). Boudouris grew up with Olympiacos Volos and moved to PAOK in 1989. He spent there nine seasons and then played for Panathinaikos (1998-2000), Olympiacos (2000-03), Makedonikos (2003-04), Maroussi (2004-06), Olympiada Patras (2006-07) and finished his glorious career last season with Maroussi.
