ATI 4870 + Win7 x64 = Crash on Start?

I've seen folks with nVidia cards get this game working after various nvidia patches but I can't seem to get it to launch with my ATI 4870. I double click, it shows the Mirror's Edge logo and the girl, and then the screen goes black.

A second later it just crashes and says "Mirror's Edge has stopped working."

I'm using an ATI card so nVidia drivers don't exactly help...I've deleted all the local content and reinstalled and nothing helped. What's going on? I was able to play the game a month or two ago with no problems on this same system with this same card but suddenly (after installing my full copy of Win7) it's not working.

Yes, I've updated my ATI drivers. I can't think of what it could be.
I've tried running in compatibility, disabling visual themes, running as administrator, etc. I've tried original ATI drivers, and I've tried the newest ATI drivers on their site. Both produce the same results.

Perhaps you guys could be of more help to me than the EA support. They sent me a really generic "Make sure your video drivers are updated and you aren't running too many background processes" lalalala in response to my email.

There has been a problem with ME running on Win7.

My only suggestion is to run it in Backwards Compatiblity for Vista or XP SP2/3

I've tried compatibility for both, neither works. The thing is, I was able to run ME on the Win7 Ultimate x64 Release Candidate just fine...but now that the ACTUAL Win7 is out...it's not working at all.

Is this a very common issue? Can EA do something about this?

Got another response from EA Support. They said they could not help me because they have not yet tested the game on Windows 7...
