Default help! i'm not computer savy!

i like to think i'm computer savy enough, but after searching frantically through this forum i've realized i'm an idiot.

i can't get my game to even start. the logo appears, the screen goes black, then suddenly the screen goes all wonky and i get a "this program has stopped responding" message.

i've tried a few of the techniques described in other posts such as messing with that td doc or downloading patches, uninstalling the patches, or even uninstalling and reinstalling the game. i'm at whits end, especially cause i've heard this game isn't even all that great. can anyone tell me in plain english how i can fix this?

We need a little more information - system specs, the exact error message, etc.

Remember you only have 5 activations, re-installing windows also counts as 1 activation. If you want help from forum members we need more information, like.. what version of windows, what pc hardware you have, drivers etc etc.

It was once said that the earth is flat, and if you walk to the edge you would fall off. Don't believe all you hear.

Default I am having similar problems running the game

I have physics turn off because my card does not support. I am running a nvidia quadro fx 1600m with 2G ram. I suppose i have the latest patch installed from EA. The game boots but when I start the missions after the flash animation I see a brief graphic then I get a fatal error. Black screen followed by program shutdown. Please help me because this is the first game that I am trying to run on my new computer

So the twice I tried then found out I need to have more memory then got more memory and installed it means I only have two more times? What if my computer crashes? What if I want to play it at my friends house? Why do they do this?

OT: It sounds as if it's a problem with your Processor. As the graphics itself is working as you wouldn't have been able to view the intro. I doubt it's the ram as the game need 2GB which you do.

in Start, in seach (in vista- or RUN on XP) type Dxdiag.exe Run this and please copy everything across so I can check properly at what hardwear may be causing your computer to fail at running this game.

Hmm, I'm guessing that by "flash animations" you mean the 2D cut scenes?
If so, your system's crashing because it's running into problems loading an interactive 3D environment, the training area. And if a patch-fix hasn't sorted it, it could be something to do with the graphics card communicating with the rest of your PC.

See if you can find your way to an options window for your graphics card. It might be somewhere in the start menu if it's a branded one like nVidia. After that, look for some options about "3D optimisation" or such other technical jargon.

Sorry if I'm not being much help. I'd probably have to experience the problem myself to help you out more.

Good luck.

Thank you....

Download DirectX 10 and see if that works. It seems to be the only thing I can think of.

I'm building my own. Nothing stunning good enough to play the games I want

Intel Pentium 4 3ghz
Nvidia Geforce 7800
3GB RAM.

More than enough for both Mirrors Edge, Sims 3 and Battlefield.

If it's like that i recommand you to stop building it coz it's weak, but enough to play in low settings...

It's all I can really afford. I got the processor for free and the graphics card is the best I can get for an AGP slot. And 3gb RAM is enough.
