Maybe it's because I'm 13 but sandbox games end up confusing usually and there are a lot of problems with them if the aren't done correctly. I like Mirror's Edge the way it is

No, I don't think it should be. Then it would just be a boring city to run around in and it would lack the more unique visual styles the first one had. The buildings and other places won't be as interesting.
I like it how it is, except that it needs to be a lot longer. But I'm fine with anything as long as it isn't third person. That would ruin the whole game |

Free roam would defeat the object of the game.
Its about Flow... getting from A-B as fast as possible. Populating the world would mean adding people in silly places, although i think interacting a little bit more would be great you would have large areas of "free roaming" trying to get onto X building or just running straight to get from site a - b. You would lose the point of parkour and it would just be another GTA or worse Assassins Creed clone. Also 1st person would not work to well in sandbox mode and get confusing. Making ME2 3rd person would lose the whole feel and what made Mirrors Edge so popular. Conclusion : Dont fix something that aint broke ! Create a map / map editor option is your sandbox / freeroam so... NO.. NO.. NO.. NO !!!!! |

Ironic that it seems a lot of the actual parkour / free runners want to keep the feel and it seems the gamers want a 3rd person free roamer ?? (Thats just an observation rather than a stab everyone, and plz forgive me if im wrong !! ) Agree 110 % your spot bang on here mate !! |

How about making stages less linear? Like offering a choice of proceeding along a rooftop, going through rooms or going to the side along other buildings. At first I did want sandbox, but then what new things would it offer? Focus on the missions and doing them well I say.

I think that they should make it a little more sandbox than it was. As in if they are taking Kate to jail (just an example) and I take ten minuets to get to the Sniper position, then there shouldn't be the Convoy coming anymore and I have to do another mission or do an alternative. Because in reality how long it took me to do the Shard, then Kate would have, frankly, been dead :P.

I think there needs to be 3-4 different citys and each city will have a campaign AND a free roam option. Like the maps are able to free roam, but only certain obstacles use runner vision. Like if in a campaign you only get runner vision on a SPECIFIC path, but when it is free roam, all paths are runner vision enabled.
And I think ME is lacking a map editor. Just my opinion. |

I still don't think free roam would be a good idea, but if there was free roam, there shouldn't be any runner vision in it. And the next game is supposed to have a level editor, so don't worry about that |

No, I was thinking that each city would be harder than the previous, like each city would ber harder to get around in. So each city would be a different dificulty. And i think mirrors edge needs more customizable controls. (A = Jump, B = Duck) just my opinion. |

As Nex_Six says, the linearity of Mirror's Edge is what makes it Parkour. However, I did feel that, at times, it was being a bit too bottleneck for my liking.
My ideal balance would be that for each major (upper) rooftop, there'd be 2 or three others placed around it for you to jump to and take alternate routes to whichever destination the story wants you to travel to. This means that you'd never get lost on your A-to-B journey, you'd just have a lot more variety in getting there that you have with ME1. So after completing the game and bashing through chapters for the hell of it, you could come out to a branch and say "Actually, I think I'll take the blue rooftop instead of the orange this time and see what that involves!" Also, less indoor levels. I swear to God, one more ventilation duct and I might snap. ![]() Quote:
