I've got to the point in the game (chapter 2 I think?) where you find the dead guy that Faith's sister is being set up for killing. As I'm trying to escape that scene the frame rate suddenly drops to something like 2 fps and eventually errors out with Vista giving a notice from the task bar saying something about DEP protection.
I've gone into the Vista settings for DEP (Data Execution Prevention) and tried to put Mirror's Edge in as an exception but it says it has to use the DEP protection and cannot be changed for that program. I've also tried rebooting, reinstalling the game and praying. Anyone know what $^#$ is going on here or how to fix it? My hardware setup is something like this: 2.47 GHz Quad core Q9450 cpu 4Gb DDR2 9600 memory Two Crossfired Sapphire Toxic HD3870 512 GB Graphics Cards 2x150 GB Raptor 10,000 rpm hardrives in RAID 0 EDIT: Alright, so I read some more in the forums and I heard people talking about their PhysX cards and such not working. Although in their setups they mentioned it was because of other conflicting unreal engine EA games (no surprise there). However, on my computer, Mirror's Edge is the only EA game that uses the unreal engine and I do not have a PhysX card. Despite that though I went into my settings and turned the PhysX support off, and that solved my problem. No longer does the frame rate slow to a crawl and error out with DEP errors. BUT I HAVE A NEW PROBLEM! Wow, seriously. EA needs to pay their customers to use their products. If you think about it, we actually become beta testers for their games, they should pay us for all the trouble we go through in getting their releases to work properly. Raging over and ranting aside... New Problem: Every time I get to the end of a chapter it snaps back to the main menu and cuts off the last moments of that chapter. This time however, it didn't save my progress when it snapped back to the main menu, so I'm stuck replaying the same level over and over. Discuss. You people need XP. My trusty notebook plays ME just fine.
It's the Asus G51. Saved up forever for it. But bragging aside you need to down grade. XP has a lot less errors.
