Default Sound Problem

Hi,
I have a sound problem with Mirror's Edge the background sound like helicopters, cars, sirens are very high while the other sound such as the voices and music is kinda low. Also changing the volume in the game doesn't help.

Now I tried to shut the whole sound off in the game options and I still get the background sounds as high as they where before...

this is really weird! Can it be the 1.01 patch that does it? I didn't try to play before I patched.

I tried disabling the Hardware sound but it doesn't make a difference.

If your running XP, go to your control panel under the start menu, select "sounds, speech and audio devices", then "sounds and audio devices".
Under "speaker settings" click advanced, then on the "performance" tab, then drop hardware acceleration to basic level.
i tring this and work, the sound come back to normal

There may also be problems to people who have the K-Lite Codec Pack. Try uninstalling it if you are having sound problems and have the pack.

I checked this and it's almost at the lowest for me. Am I going to change it to the lowest possible?

I was having the same problem, and turning off hardware accelleration in windows fixed it. Everything sounds great now. TO THE ROOFTOPS!

I was having the same ambient noise problem being much much louder than anything else in the game, including dialogue with Kate inside a building 30 stories up, and I played with the Hardware Acceleration settings in the Windows Control panel and that did help. The problem with that is that it slowed things down a bit, and Skype wouldn't work at all. I do not have the K-lite codec pack installed, nor do I have the CCCP codec pack installed either.

I would recommend checking to see if your soundcard manufacturer has updated their drivers. I'm running a 2.2Ghz MacBook Pro 3,1 (Santa Rosa) and the built-in soundcard is a RealTek ACL885. I checked the RealTek website and they just released version R2.14 of their HD Audio Codec drivers. I installed them and have had no problems with the ambient sounds with the Hardware Acceleration set at full.
