MEPC - Failed contact with license server

Hi,

I just bought Mass Effect as advised by a friend only to find that there is a problem contacting the license server.

I believe this to be a problem between me and my Uni firewall - has any else had this problem?
I do have a genuine copy of ME, and an internet connection (be it limited though (cant play online games)). Im not too sure how to get round this... is there a way to manually authenticate my copy?
