has there been any announcement there will be a 3rd one?

Honestly I think two are enough. Unless of course it'll be a massive improvement over the second one.

I'd welcome a third installment if it could combine the best of the first two games. (The first of which was far superior IMO).

Moved to The Lord of the Rings forum.

At the moment there is no news about a planned Battle for Middle Earth 3 game.

i think its about time EA looked a little deeper into LOTRs mythology and not kill it off with its LOTR online which looked shiat IMO totally changed the look of everything anyways back to the topic at hand, maybe if EA look at past events that shaped the earth such as the simarilion i cant remeber what its called something like that, and i do know that somone has posted a good article on a fan page thing, http://lotrfanon.wikia.com/wiki/The_Battle_for_Middle_Earth_III_(Game)
ok that link goes to a good article which i think EA should look at for some ideas, plus the idea of choosing whether u can convert to preset such as BFME1 or to free build such as BFME2 would be a good idea

here ya go guys knock ya selfs out and i hope EA read this

I actually disagree with that quite a lot - I've read the Silmarillion, the Hobbit (3 times) and Lord of the Rings (twice) and I think that LOTRO is extremely true to the whole legendarium. The graphics (although lots say they aren't as good as others) I find incredible - the water looks more real than real!!! I especially like the inclusion of the more unimportant characters (Gildor, Radagast, etc.) and it will be even better when the whole of Middle-Earth is on there - Laurelindorenan will be exceptional, I'm sure. Anyway, Turbine and Codemasters developed/published LOTRO, not EA.

I do not think that the BFME series is as true to the storyline, with made up characters (Drogoth, Gorkil) and some characters missing (not enough Nazgul, Celeborn, Radagast, etc.). This is why I think that EA should have another go, because the gameplay is great, but it just doesn't follow what Tolkien wrote closely enough.

They should buy Creative Assembly from SEGA, so we can have a true Middle Earth game that will do justice to the battles from the movies. EA's way just doesn't do it for me.

Too true. The second game didn't improve upon the first nearly enough for me. As I said above, Lord of the Rings games need the Total War engine. Otherwise the battles just feel small-time, compared to something from Medieval 2 Total War.

I think that's what Conquest will be like, but with a much better singleplayer game, hopefully.

No, what it needs is to have much bigger battles. Also, the combat animations are terrible. Medieval 2 Total War has a far better engine, that successfully combines having loads of troops on screen with excellent combat animations. In ME 1 and 2, all they do is swing at each other the same way all the time (usually missing by some distance, but that doesn't stop the terrible collision detection from registering a hit).

EA can and should do better (where've we heard that before......Fifa, anyone?)

See, if I've spent £30 on a game, I don't want to have to spend an extra £8.99 a month to continue playing it! Imagine how expensive that could get.
