In the United Kingdom and the Crown dependencies, a television licence is required to receive any publicly broadcast television service, from any source. This includes the commercial channels, cable and satellite transmissions.
That means not just the BBC. |

but you are talking about money distribution but no money according to my source goes to ITV channel 4 or channel 5. it just goes to the BBC so your argument is wrong

but you are misreading the article doctor it says that the switch over is paid for.not the programming on channel 4 itself. you also made a mistake because it states that the fee is distributed by the BBC. so its the BBC that holds the fee in the first place. so once again you are wrong. try to find real evidence that the bbc isnt holder of the license and ill go and get another source to prove to you that the BBC is holder of the license.

"TV Licensing" is a trading name used by companies contracted by the BBC to administer the collection of television licence fees and enforcement of the television licensing system. The majority of administration is contracted to Capita Business Services Ltd, with cash related payment schemes contracted to Revenues Management Services Ltd. Over-the-counter services are contracted to PayPoint Collections Ltd. Marketing and public relations activities are contracted to the AMV Consortium. This consortium is made up of the following four companies: Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO Ltd, Fishburn Hedges Boys Williams Ltd, PHD Media Ltd and Proximity London Ltd. The BBC is a public authority in respect of its television licensing functions and retains overall responsibility.
another source taken from the tv licensing site TV Licensing - About Us it clearly states it is a side company of the bbc

Considering how popular Doctor Who is, how high the ratings are, how much of the merchandise sells (toys, dvds, birthday cards, posters etc.) then the actor in the role of the Doctor should be getting a high wage, there would be alot of questions to where to money is actually going if he wasn't.

Apparently during 2009 there are going to be a few specials (i cant remember the amount sorry) and the next series wont start until 2010 with David, yay!!!!
I did hear in some of these specials, due to David working on some other projects they have planned to bring back some of the old doctors with David going back in time. Sounds cool. ![]()
