Default SOund problem thingymabob.

I thought I'd put a more interesting tittle. Because I did.

Anyway....

Hello
I have another problem. (They seem to occur a lot for me yuss.)
I got the blue screen of death, so I thought. Fine time for a format anyways, so I formatted the computer back to the factory state.
Great. Except not...
Now I don't have any sound, at all. Which is really annoying.
Is there anything that can help me get sound back. I'm sick of having my cousins HSM songs in my head.

Installed the drivers again?
Go to Sound and Audio Hardware in computer panel, what does it say are your output etc? should be the sound card.
You can also try going into Device manager and make sure Sound card and speakers are enabled.

maybe check the "control panel", then "system", "device manager" find "sound...contollers" then see if there is anything wrong there

Hi. Guess what. Maus boyfriend - no honey I won't stick around I'm only here because I'm bored an you know my views on EA, scum they are =P.

Sounds most likely that your sound drivers just haven't installed. Is it a newer pre-built PC? Because most, even onboard sound cards didn't have drivers as an XP standard. Fine example was my old PC from around 2002, I'd have to find the drivers (same with this current one). Most likely you've got a Realtek set. Just find out the make of your PC an then go to its site, either that or find out the motherboard type for me (CPUID) an I can most likely just find the sound drivers from there (it'll be listed under the tab "mainboard") an once more.

Ew. EA.

I'm back now.
I shall read all your posts and try stuff now.
Edit - Ahh, I've found a driver CD, explored the files and found some drivers. Unfortunately there isn't a hint to how to install this, just loads of random notebook information.

Heh.

Ironically, our friends can't take no for an answer and have whisked him off for a pint. Or two.

x]

He'll be around though. He's decided to stalk me until you're sorted. He should be back on later tonight.
He's nocturnal.

Can you find out your pc make? or the motherboard type, as he said?

It's a Rio motherboard., and A Realtek HD audio Output thingy.

I've just been on the Packard bell website and got the drivers for my computer, installed them and voila! Nothing happened!

Great

Most likely the wrong drivers then. The Realtek ones iirc are mostly only ever used to manage them - my set of drivers for my old Packard Bell was something completely strange. Can you screencap the mainboard window for me please - I need to get the motherboard s/n. That way I can find out exactly it is what you need.

Screencap the mainboard window?!?!
I have no idea what that means.

It shouldn't be the wrong drivers, I went to the packardbell support site, entered my serial to find my computer and downloaded the drivers from there.
I remember there were multiple drivers...
I shall check

Maus - Thanks, Thank Sam for me to.
