If you're lucky, they might give you some kind of gift at the end of the week though
I got a gift voucher for WHSmiths!

Whether you go through the school or find your own, I suggest you put at least a bit of effort into getting one that you'll like and that isn't boring.

i have had to get a placement for college, i work at a dog kennels one day a week. I want to be a vet but i didn't want to go to the vets for my placement because they just stick you working at the desk typing on the pc...and thats boring to me. so now i do all the dirty work at a dog pound lol i have already adopted a dog from there....on my first day lol

It isn't always bad going through your school. They didn't have enough placements for us all initially so I didn't get either of my choices, which ended up being for the best! The placement I ended up getting meant I did a mixture of work and shadowing (talking about peoples jobs) in the first and a bit, as I got on really well with the manager I spent the last three or so days talking to her in her office with some others, not doing any work at all! Best bit was the two large chocolate cakes that they bought on my last day along with getting £50, which ended up being a fantastic "deal" compared to other people in my year who got one of their choices.

I think that Work experience comes round a bit early age wise, but that's due to the exams that you get later on in your school life.

I'd try and pick something that you're interested in and think outside the box. Don't apply for somewhere that loads of people will want. Also you don't want to be looking for somewhere that pays you (obviously that'd be a bonus) but the whole point of it is work experience, experience for work.

I thoroughly enjoyed my work experience, albeit I did get mobbed by about 30+ kids on my final day in the playground.

I hated my work experience. I left within an hour of being there!
