Free New Game Content Coming by Early August; Button Controls Included In Additional Summer Update July 7, 2009 – Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) announced today its initial Downloadable Content (DLC) plan for Fight Night Round 4. Recently named the Game Critic Awards “Best Sports Game of E3 2009”, Fight Night Round 4 has been winning over reviewers since its release on June 23rd. The first DLC pack, which will be available for free to both Xbox 360® and Playstation®3 users by early August, will include a new training gym, new gameplay sliders, as well as a host of new equipment that can be used for outfitting boxers. Xbox 360 users will also receive an exclusive alternate version of Sugar Ray Leonard in their first DLC pack, courtesy of Pizza Hut. EA SPORTS™ will also be releasing a free downloadable game update by early September that will allow gamers to use face buttons on the Xbox 360 and PS3 game controllers to throw punches, hooks, uppercuts and haymakers. “The depth and variety of new content we have planned this summer is going to make one of the most critically acclaimed games on the market even better,” said senior producer, Dean Richards. “Among the new content in development, our new button control scheme will give fans a choice for how they want to throw punches in the game. We strongly believe that the refined Total Punch Control is the most intuitive way to throw punches in Fight Night Round 4, but we also want fans of the franchise to have an option.” Fight Night Round 4 is currently available for the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and Xbox 360® video game system from Microsoft. This game has been rated T for Teen by the ESRB, and 16+ by PEGI.

No offence, but wasnt it buttons that ruined online in round 3? Why cant button mashers just go play tekken or something? EA took the decision of not including buttons; now stick with it, instead of throwing in the towel because a few people are whining. Im sure this will be like the dream team glitch on FIFA, it'll totally ruin online unless they will make an online filter that will allow you to face an opponent using the same controls as you. If that would be the case, I think everyone would be happy.

I'd like to have seen an announcement about when the numerous bugs/glitches/freezes and such will be fixed, before they worried about announcing DLC. Look at the US FNR4 forums, people are having their legacy modes completely freeze up and not being able to progress after many hours of effort put into it.
I'm also unhappy that buttons are being brought back, I hope that I at the very least have the option to only find online opponents using sticks.

There are minor bugs, freezing is a major imo, luckily i have not faced that yet.
Need to fix some of their grammar, and the entrances. I'd like more boxer customizations also.

EA, pioneers of right analog innovation. you sold out. if this creates an unfair spamvantage online... NEVER bow down to the cries of children looking for more buttons to bash.
-unless it threatens sales? |

a little discerning to see the first DLC - the ability to ruin the game - has been rushed out like its a major priority. i'd like to see commentary alternatives sooner rather than later, even just the same guys saying different stuff. and WC online - repaired. Legacy - repaired. De La Hoya is advertising the game? yet he's not in.. obviously theres our choice of Oscars from the available custom boxer creations.. and tbh it seems a select few boxers who simply 'should' be in it, their mugs are easily found in the create boxer which i guess is EA's cheeky workaround for again inadequate incomplete licensing. however Mr. 'Money In The Bank' probably requested more than others and they said 'look - Mr Money - yes we are EA but thats just toooo muchhhhhh....'-or whether he may show as DLC template's there already so quite likely. but then there's no need for an 'official' one . the De La Hoyas i lalalalan't look too convincing so theres room for him |

As long as control filters come in with the button control setups.
Its only fair.

Why oh why did you leave this feature out on the PS3? I was looking forward to customising my boxer and choosing his entrance tune for Legacy or online. A small omission but one that seems so senseless. Surely it cannot be down to Sony Entertainment as some suggest?

Question... Why do people say that you can mash buttons? This isnt friggen tekken using eddie gordo. Its boxing for christ sake. You have to deliver combos properly or it won't be fluid. On that note you can shake the stick from side to side like a wild person the same as you could press a button. So "mashing" doesn't even make sense. Good job adding the buttons. I do like the new control scheme but we should be able to decide. If you don't like playing people with the button control scheme go into the "analog only" room like fight night 3.

no real possibility in having to think by just pressing L2 followed by R1 whatever. 100% success rate everytime without even having to think. you could bash the buttons but one lazy press a second should suffice in stringing together insane big punch combos. have fun. |
