Default long, but fairly thoughtout.

not a bad game but still loads of missing aspects to the career of a boxer. I also do not understand why one cannot manage his funds... Aren't trainers meant to be paid for their service? isnt equipment meant to be paid for until a company sponsors you? Why does EA constantly disregard major factors, yet they flash about with the licensing they have acquired.

Suggestions for "legacy" mode:

1. boxing styles should be based upon boxer's hometown

When creating a fighter one should be able to decipher their style based upon where they are from. for example: if i make a fighter from Brooklyn NY, there should be various styles (found only in NY) to choose from.. Lets be real, you wont find a NY boxer with the same style as a fighter right out of Cardiff... Styles ARE based on a fighter's surroundings and that should be applied from the get go. Wot we've got at the moment is far too generic, and with all that licensing you'd think EA would make things deeply realistic.

to elaborate: NY styles whether fast, balanced, defensive, offensive, slow but accurate, or full on power; would all be different compared to the likewise styles in Boston, Atlanta, Detroit, London, Belfast, Dublin, etc... <can truly make the fighter unique. Just seems in the game, there is not enough variation in style, OR the variation which exists is far too evident in the sense that you find no-namers all fighting with the same general stance/style. This concept should be taken into consideration atleast for the major cities of the world (which boxing holds a steady level of popularity)

2. Day to day actions should be looked at closer.

Finances in this game are not even a factor... If doing a career, one should be given the option to choose which city to fight out of, then join a gym within that city and respectively join their boxing club. Prove yourself within the club and reach higher competition... In the early stages, before you have proven yourself, you should have to pay a membership as well as pay for all your own equipment.. The trainers would be paid by the gym. (all fights would provide for salary, certain fights would give more money than others.) Once you have become proven, then the gym would decide to sponsor you, or you would be noticed locally and other gyms would give you offers of sponsorship.... With sponsorship, you get free equiptment and membership, but would have to get your own trainers and pay them respectively, since the gym trainers are only paid by the gym. You should be able to hire as many specialized trainers/doctors as you need, as long as you can afford to pay them.

no elaboration needed.

3. Further aspirations apart from belts.

As a boxer moving up the ranks and aging one should be able to promote fights and start gyms.... As a retired boxer, you should be able to have these sorts of business's on the side to keep the career mode more interactive.

Starting your own gym: Once your boxer has achieved enough publicity and belts (or simply achieved a certain status as a fighter, "champion, legend", etc), one should be able to use the generated capital (money) to invest into starting a franchise of his own; a boxing gym/club. You'd have to choose the city, choose the building and furnish the entire facility with fitness equiptment, training fixtures and if money permits, a spa facility. The more amenities your gym has, the more recruits will want to join.. The more recruits you have at your gym, the higher profile you boxing club will be. As the owner of the gym you'd have to hire staff, coaches, trainers, etc to keep your recruits happy and in top form. < the better the staff the more successful your recruits will end up. To make things realistic/reasonable, the human player would be able to play as one recruit per week and use him in his weekly fight, and also use him during the training games already within FN4. You being the owner of the gym, would need to keep things nearly perfect to keep your recruits from taking offers from other gyms, based on their success.

no further elaboration needed, but if you've got anything to add please do.

Promoting Fights: Whilst you've got your gym, you can effectively promote your own fights once you title your "entertainment agency", like "goldenboy entertainment" for DeLaHoya... I reckn you should be able to become a promoter even without having a gym, but having a gym would make you a more profitable promoter just because you can gauge young talent better than an average promoter. The human player would be able to play as either fighter, but would get more money based on who wins.... so chances are you the human player would use the fighter who would earn you the most money as a promoter, but in some cases that fighter is the least favorable. With the earnings you are able to hire scouts/better scouts/more scouts, who can gauge fighters across the globe and bring them to your attention for the purpose of further promotion of fights. At your "office" for example, you'd have to arrange fights, set dates, notify publicity etc.. the more publicity, the more hype.. the more hype, the more money there will be to be made....If you've got a boxing club/gym, the same earnings can be used for the improvement of the facility as well.

no further elaboration needed, but add input if you've got any.

..^ ^just some ideas i was actually hoping to see in FN4....

Default Let's Not Overcomplicate Things

I disagree with the points made about introducing finance etc. There's no need. People want a strong boxing game, with good graphics and realistic fights. A good career and create-a-boxer mode is also essential and this ticks all the boxes. I do have a couple of gripes of my own, which I'd like to point out:

1) Crashes
My game has crashed on several occasions in Legacy mode. As somebody mentioned in an earlier post, my boxer is a current champion in Legacy mode but also inherits the ring entrance and entrance moveset of whomever challenges me for my title.

The next one is the big one: When trying to change weight class, the game freezes. I had a career with a boxer in the Welterweight division and won all three belts before choosing to move up a class - to no avail. The minute I press the 'x' button to accept changing weight classes the game freezes. I had to start a new career in the hope that this crash doesn't occur again and I'm now reaching a similar point (with 2 titles to my name and gunning for the 3rd) with my new boxer so I truly hope history doesn't repeat itself...

Oh, and on one occasion the game froze in the middle of a match (7th round). That's only happened the once so I can forgive that.

2) Custom Entrance Music on PS3

I was devastated to learn this isn't possible - particularly after the advertising, which was rather cheekily marketed towards the PS3, showed an interview where one of the developers suggested this WAS possible... The selection of music to choose from is dire. This is a minor thing that has such a huge impact on the game (and does on the XBOX360).

3) DLC

This isn't so much of a gripe, it's more of a request. Can we look into having additional boxers. I'd actually consider purchasing additional boxers from the playstation store if they were reasonably priced. Floyd Mayweather simply has to be made available for purchase. I agree that Naz should be there too. Nigel Benn perhaps? Chris Eubank? Food for thought there anyway guys.

The fundamentals of a great game are in place but I hope this is listened to.

Cheers.

Default u'd have to be an idiot not to be able to manage your own finances...

How is there no need for finance when, finance determines a boxer's wherewithal? Trainers, coaches, equipment arent free in real life, so why should they be free in the game? without finance, you might as well just play arcade boxing and do-away with the career mode fullstop...(because you're essentially fighting without earning money, which is equivalent of playing Tekken...) wots the point of the career if u cant actually achieve anything monetarily? sure you can win belts and that, but that gets all too boring once you've dominated your class... and there is more to boxing than just winning belts...

you talk about custom music.. who cares about custom music.... i'd rather play a more stimulating career mode than care about my entrance song... and im sure they will implement it with the ps3 eventually anyway....

In fairness the producer did say you upload music from your xbox, not upload music from your console.

have more training between each fight but make it have half the effect as i quite enjoy the training and if i only do 3 at a time i get old really quick so i would def like the 1 training to be replaced by 2 and have a max increase of 3 say. And then have 2 goign to 4 after longer waits

add more to the career so that it is no tjust fighting and training with the finances and just have a variety to it so it does ot become monotonous. things like training a kid from the local gym and paying for gym mebership at the start then working at the big gym etc, also have more non boxing related training such as one which has fitness training which you do pressups weights etc

get more fit girls in it and allow you to have relationships with them lol

improve commentry all i hear is what you prescribe a paracetemol....

improve crowd graphics

get more atmosphere with shouting and energy in the commentrys voice when they get stunned

better online so you can have tournaments etc

the game in general is good, its very enjoyable, the graphics are very detailed. its just frustrating when playing online. almost all the players i played against seems alot faster than me, and never gets tired. i do agree that that some of them must be using turbo pads or something. they never seems to get tired. this is the only thing thats making me regret in buying this game.

One thing that really annoys me is that i can land 3 times as many punches as the cpu in a round, he throws like 10 punches and just blocks for the rest of the round yet he gets more points to use. . . .even though he lost the round, its ridiculours, landing should get more points than blocking. Other than that the game is brilliant. Oh and KO animations, there needs to be a few more!

Agree with a lot of your points Placebo, just one i dont and a quick fix for another!

The training games are not at all difficult i rarely get any lower than champion on any mini game unless i lose concentration, which is exactly how it should be.

The glitch with the fighters having the wrong face in legacy is a simple fix. Just go to edit your boxer whilst in legacy and then go back out again and it will be his face. I had the same problem with my Haye legacy. . .it was klitchko's face in my schedule thing!! All sorted now though!

2. I've noticed bugs with imported fighter's 2d face, first legacy I started with my imported Amir Khan I had the 2d face of Marquez, second legacy I started my face was correct but Breidis Prescott has the face of John Duddy, really annoying TBH.

3. Gameface, a lot of improvements needed here IMO:
  • sliders should move one at a time, not adjust every other slider on the aspect you're tweaking, makes it much harder for us to create accurate faces
  • there should be an "undo last step" option which resets the part of the face we just tweaked Nose/Eyes/Mouth/Chin etc. instead of having to undo the whole thing in one go
  • Needs a quicker way to go from Eyes/Nose/Chin/Mouth etc instead of having to go all the way up, then all the way down, need a "jump to" feature
  • Not enough hairstyles, some of them are ridiculous and basically useless
  • Need to be able to tweak the ears
4. Training games are too hard, at least give us the chance of restarting them in legacy mode if we do badly, the fact you can practice with a very strong/quick fighter outside training mode really doesn't prepare you for in the ring.

5. Contrived legacy elements such as being scheduled to fight someone ranked 29, he pulls out through injury and you're forced to fight someone ranked 15, unrealistic, we would never have to go through with the fight under such circumstances.

6. Legacy mode Emails, useless and waste of time, haven't had a single one yet that was crucial information.

7. Online punch spammers, annoying, not sure you can do anything about them though.

8. ESPN Simulation mode, perhaps an unfair complaint but why even waste dev time implementing this? Who in their right mind buys a boxing game like this and then wants to simulate the fight? The development time/money to implement this should have been spent on fluffing out the legacy mode a bit more IMO (I also don't like the fact if you accidentally click on it instead of Fight there's no warning, no are you sure yes/no).

That's all I can think of right now, all in all I am really enjoying the game and would probably say it's the best boxing game I've ever played, and as I've been a gamer for 25 years that's saying something, surpasses HBO Boxing on PS1 and TV Sports boxing on Amiga which were previously my favourite boxing games

At least you've got a decent boxing game. Us PC gamers have been starved of boxing games since I can't remember when.

I give up with Xbox Live for this game, I only fight 4 fighers max.

Ali, Leonard, Duran and Hearns.

Nobody uses anyone else except them, and then haymakers to the body repeatedly even though I'm blocking there still takes my stamina away.

I'm just sticking to legacy mode because I never fight people online who box properly just whirlwind windmilling people.

Id like some more stuff in the next DLC for robes etc. I mean you have the long standard and the long hooded but what about the short no-sleeved ones like kahn wears and like the apollo creed wears in the rocky films with different styles available like US flag,UK so on and so forth. that would be nice.
Also maybe add some more custom entrance attire like hats etc.

Increase the max height of heavyweights to 7'2.
And finally maybe make entrances a little longer if thats even possible which I doubt.

Im sick of people body spamming in this game!!!

I think a patch should be put in to make it more realistic...

I think if you persist on body spamming , if you take a uppercut during this... You should stumble or stagger or something!

In real life you cant body spam and if you do, people are gonna be looking for that uppercut on the inside to put you down!

Ea sort your game out, coz i can box well in it and enjoy pumping out my jab on people and out classing people...

Tired of a exploitation of the game ruining the realism or enjoyment of boxing in general...

It would weed out the lack of skill body spam problem and make the game much more realistic and much more enjoyable...

You should seriously think about it!

I think anyone with any sense would agree with me...

i think the ideas arent bad but seriously... I dont think people from ny are all gonna fight the same!
Lol hell... I dont think the guy living next door to me is gona fight the same as me... So i dont get how where you live plays such a huge impact on your style, that it would define it....
That simply isnt the case...

I think its down the the individual more then where you live...

I've played TOO MANY cocky idiots who simply body spam... LITERALLY 99% OF THE TIME!!! IF NOT THEN ITS 99. SOMETHING...

IF YOU GUYS PUT THIS PATCH IN, Their "ALL IM GONA DO IS SPAM THE BODY AND NOTHING ELSE" WOULD NOT WORK!
HE'D ACTUALLY HAVE TO IMPLOY SOME KIND OF TACTIC BESIDES FLICKING THE STICK LEFT RIGHT LEFT RIGHT ALL DAY OR, A,B,A,B, ALL DAY...

AND HE CERTAINLY WOULDNT BE HARD TO BEAT...

MY TACTICS OF ACTUALLY BOXING!!! AND USING A VARIETY OF PUNCHES (THATS CREATIVE AND PRETTY MUCH CONSISTANTLY DIFFERENT... plus actual combos...) WOULDNT BE EFFECTED BY THIS PATCH... only the body spammers would suffer... AND with good bloody reason!

I HAVE NOTHING AGAINST MAKING THAT THE CASE... OBVIOUSLY IT WOULD HAVE TO BE A WELL PLACED UPPERCUT (AS THEY ARE BODY SPAMMING YOU THAT CATCHES THEM JUST AT THE RIGHT TIME...)

COZ IM SORRY BUT IN REAL LIFE (THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE A lalalalaIN SIM REMEMBER GUYS!) A WELL PLACED UPPERCUT WILL DO SOMETHING!!!! (NOT NOTHING!)ESPESH IF IT CONNECTED WHEN YOUR LEANING DOWN "BODY SPAMMING" ME...
