Guildford, UK – May 7, 2008 – Electronic Arts Inc. (Nasdaq: ERTS) announced today that EA SPORTS™Fight Night Round 4 is in development at EA Canada in Vancouver under the EA SPORTS brand. EA SPORTS Fight Night is back with the most realistic “in the ring” experience to date, featuring some of the greatest boxers in history fighting in their prime.
“The EA SPORTS Fight Night franchise has always been synonymous with quality and innovation that raised the bar for the sports videogame genre”, said Kevin Wilkinson, Executive Producer, EA SPORTS. “EA SPORTS Fight Night Round 3 was a platform defining game as the industry transitioned to next generation consoles. EA SPORTS Fight Night Round 4 will change how boxing games are played and measured in the future.” Featuring a re-written gameplay engine, EA SPORTS Fight Night Round 4 will add a variety of fighting styles and boxer differentiation to authentically emulate the greatest fighters of all time. Pressure your opponent with the brawling inside style of young Mike Tyson, bobbing and weaving to set up powerful hooks and uppercuts. Capitalize on Muhammad Ali’s reach, hand speed and fleetness of foot to bewilder your opponent with lightning fast jabs and straights from the outside. For the first time in history, EA SPORTS Fight Night Round 4 gives you the opportunity to pit these legendary heavyweights against one another and name a true champ. No fight will be the same with an all-new physics-based animation system that recreates the full spectrum of true-to-life punch impacts, giving boxers a devastating arsenal of punches, blocks and ring movement. The new physics system allows for missed punches, glancing punches, knockout blows and for the first time ever, rough and tumble inside fighting. Fatigue, adrenaline, footwork and timing all come into play as you hammer away at your opponents. EA SPORTS Fight Night Round 4 will be available for the Xbox 360™ system and the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and ships to retailers in 2009. The game has not yet been rated by the ESRB or PEGI. EA SPORTS™ is the leading interactive sports software brand in the world, with top-selling titles and franchises including Madden NFL Football, FIFA football, NHL® hockey, NBA LIVE basketball, NCAA® Football, Tiger Woods PGA TOUR® and NASCAR® racing.

Thank goodness FN is back! I was so upset when I heard EA was canceling the series..
I used to blow up the 1st FN and try for 5 to 8 punches after the opponent was going down. I think my record was 8; serious damage, lol... FN2 was definately my favorite and round 3 wasn't too bad. Too bad we have to wait another year for the new one

the fight night series are some of my favourite games of all time so this is amazing news, i think ive had round 3 about 4 times.
hopefully ther'll have more licenced current boxers as ones such as ali, frazier etc should be unlockables and not ones you fight in your carreer. i mean ea don't make fifa with best playin for man u or hoddle for spurs etc and also you should get a title shot earlier in your carreer. because you start when your bout 20 and you don't get a shot till your bout 33ish and after that your fighter starts becoming a fat knacker and you start getting beat easily. also there should be more arena's and real life ones such as the o2 arena and the millenium stadium and the ones in vegas, also they should get rid of the stupid arenas like the warehouse and aragon ballroom for better more realistic made up ones. photo game would be cool and i expect it to be included as it will be a feature in facebreaker. the ring entrances should be improved aswell, there were alot better in fn1 when you could buy entrance music and fireworks and a ring girl. |

dunno really, maybes just smaller arenas as im pretty sure you dont fight in a warehouse in your career, like hattons fighting tonite and it aint in a warehouse lol.
i'd like to see more outdoor arenas too, like what happened to ceasers palace, and it would be great to be able to see the ranking list again. thats all for now but i'm sure i'll think of more |

ring entrances should be better and if you have a belt then you should be wearing it when you are walking to the ring and when you win a belt it should show you holding it aloft. this was in fn1 but not the rest, why

You should include the actual Boxing Governing Bodies such as WBO, WBC, IBF etc. plus other such as British, Commonwealth and European or others depending where your fighter is from. This would make the game much better just as the FIFA Series would not be as popular if you were playing to win the EA Premier League.
Also, there should be a current Pound for Pound list in the game instead of just pound for pound of all fighters which never changes even if you beat them during your career they are still there and can still be above you. Plus you should be able to choose the era in which you fight so if you are a Heavyweight you could fight greats such as Marciano in the 50's or fighters such as Ali Liston and Frazier in the 60's Finally, why do your fighter's attributes start to decrease later on in their career? I understand agility and speed getting worse due to age but people can still keep in shape as they get older. Last edited by carlm965; 04-06-2008 at 03:46 PM.. |

Dear EA
Fight Night round 3 was a great success, but there could be a few improvements. 1. Will there be liscenced championships, WBC, WBA, WBO and IBF? 2. I think it goes with out saying that the best pound for pound fighter should be on the game, Floyd Mayweather. It`d be nice to see a few more fighters aswell, Joe Calzaghe, Jose Castillo, David Haye, V. Klitchko, Kostya Tszyu(even though he`s retired). Maybe some classic fighters aswell, Prince Naseem Hamed comes to mind. Mike Tyson is another. 3. Actual real life venue`s like Madisson Square Garden, the MGM Grand, the Mandalay Bay, Wembley stadium? |

There should definitely be more current fighters on the game. Not only champions (Calzaghe, Mayweather, Cotto, Haye and the like) but also some of the best up and coming prospects such as Amir Khan and the better young Americans.
A greater selection of real life venues would also be good. |

FN definitely needs more real boxers.
I'd love to knock off someone's block with Calzaghe, Mayweather or especially Cotto

I suppose it's a waste of time to inquire whether or not this will ever appear on PC....
On the game itself, I want a proper career mode, something that mirrors the way it works in real life, many more boxers and all of the Boxing associations. |

Calzaghe wont be in it 'cause EA are scared of him. Scared that he'll be too hard to beat. most people in this game fight pretty much guns-blazing. That's pretty much the style that Calzaghe tends to make look bad with his hand speed by landing 15/20 punch combos at a time. all night long.
so I say... come on EA.. .give the man a ring, offer him whatever he wants and give us a challenge. and Amir Kahn in the game wouldn't hurt (for want of better wording). might not be world champ yet, but he's gonna be. oh... and don't forget Henry Cooper this time. it's an absolute crime that he's not been in the game before. (unles she's actually said he doesnt want to; in which case, fair enough. but can you let us know if this is the case EA?). agreed on the point of including more real - and british - arenas. we invented the sport, surely we deserve better than 1 boxer in the game and 2 cities to chose from as a home-town. I read that female boxers are making a return too... that'd be cool. I think they werent used before, because... well... they couldn't be really. try not to change the punching system though EA... it works. |
