Default FIFA 11: Career Mode First Impressions

Hi All,

Having managed to get some playing time with Career Mode here in the office I have written up a short introductory article about what I've seen and experienced. Hopefully this will be the first of a couple as I guide you through the world that is Career Mode and those all important decisions; Player, Player-Manager or Manager.

You can read the article here on the FIFA 11 site; http://fifa.easports.com/enGB/news.a...ampaign=FIFA11

Phil, can you confirm, once and for all, what player-manager is? Is it BAP style game play (controlling 1 player) plus controlling club affairs like Fifa 10 MM? Thanks.

Yes, we all know that by simming games you get injuries. The problem is that if you actually played the game, there were no long-term injuries...

The callendar thing, seems like a copy/paste from the Master League, which is actually good, because I used to love Master League and I really dislike MM.

Yes, but not for how long. That also happens in FIFA10, nothing new here.

The problem in FIFA10 is that long-term injuries only happen when you sim, if you play you only get a couple of days out.

Lets concentrate on the good shall we, no point in commenting on potential bugs with the game when we haven't even played it. Until it's released and we find that there really are problems with it then talking about those things is pointless. New game, new code, new start. Career Mode is looking really good this year, can't wait to get my hands on it

One thing is certain, if MM is not sorted out this year, I'm not buying FIFA.

FIFA 10 plays well enough for me not to need to buy another game just to update teams and jerseys.

"On the side of injuries they are still there and have been tweaked as well. I got two injuries during the first match I simmed both of which were of different lengths; one 82 days and one 27 days."

As posted elsewhere Phil can you just confirm (I'm sure they are) injuries are sorted for games played not just Simmed, and long term injuries too...

I think a third year would see me and Placebo hunting EA staff down...

Brilliant
even the sim part of the game were it tells you important bits. (thats if you never watched the game part in LMA), sounds the same. Just hope he surprises us in his next report about staduim building. That would knock me of my feet. Id love it.

For Player-Manager you control all 11 players when playing however when you first start you get to select whether you want to Create a Player or Create a VP. If you opt to create a VP they can grow and get accomplishments, if you create a Player I don't think they get accomplishments. When playing you don't automatically have the BAP camera but you can change it to this.

So not fully BAP in the classic sense that you only control your VP, but that are elements of it.

I played a match earlier in a "Player Career" and got my VP injured for 9 days. Also had some injuries when playing matches as Player-Manager. I'll play some more games when I can and report back further.

If you aren't from the UK you won't be able to see it properly, you will need to select English language / territory on the FIFA 11 site.
