Default Tips/Advice From The #1 Player in the United States

Gentlemen,

This thread is meant for those who would like to discuss some of the "secrets to success of Fifa 10". Given my knowledge and experience of Fifa 10 that has accrued after becoming the #1 player in the United States, I would like to share some of my success and give back to my fellow community members.

I would be more then happy to play with many of you online on Xbox Live. Simply add me as a friend, and tell me who you are from the forum. We can play a ranked or unranked match, which will allow me to view and assess your skills, and then discuss them in turn, as well as address any other questions you may have.

If you want to ask questions regarding gameplay, strategy, tactics, or anything related to becoming a better player in Fifa 10, feel free to ask here! Many have already asked pointed questions on how to improve in certain situations, and they are scattered throughout the pages. Here's a couple of quick gameplay tips I have for you right off the bat:

As far as actual gameplay tips here is some brief tips to start you off, but there are many more tips scattered througout the remaining pages as I've responded to many users asking for specific inquiries:

1. You need to keep possession in the midfield. This will draw defenders towards you, while it frees up your wingers to have more space to play. To do this, you need to work on your one on one moves. If you can get past one player, your opponent will usually bring in another to press you. This frees up one of your other players to pass to.

2. When you HAVE a lead, change your formation to a pure defensive formation. Put your mentality on Ultra Defensive. This will stop the high pressure rushes and counter attacks. It will also increase your possession and frustrate your opponent. The more frustrated your opponent gets, the more mistakes he makes, as he tries to hurry up and score a quick goal.

3. Work on skill moves with your wing players. This will free up your strikers in the box. If you can beat guys on the wings, then you will find better crossing opportunities, and better passing opportunities.

I will provide fellow members with "UDLawman's Tip of the Week". You can read my first tip on page 5 of this thread.

Take it easy gentlemen, and I will look forward to seeing you on Live.

level 15, im more a casual player, im not even ranked, just wanted to see how i'd get on, & i got beat 2-1, & made a amateur mistake when my keeper caught a corner & i wanted a quick counter & rolled the ball straight to ballack for a open goal to make it 1-1 lol, UDLawman is defensively tight though (saying that i missed alot of sitters lol, but still), & to be fair, just from that one game ive learnt a thing or two, i use the sprint button waaaay to much lol!

& like i told UDLawman after the game, i'll be honest in my opinions etc

Dear UDLawman,

I'm increasinly getting annoyed with my poor success rate of curling free kicks. I'm ok with driven free kicks however when I try to curl them, it goes hopelessly wrong. I practise everyday, say my prayers & eat my vitamins but I still am not capable of scoring curling free kicks!

Your help on this matter would be really appreciated.

Yours sincerely,

yeah i think it was a ranked match, because i gained points for the loss lol, in all honesty i dont think there is much between us as players, yeah he beat me, but it was tight & i had alot (ALOT) of chances which i usually take , also i see his point about connections, im from the uk & even tho it had 3 green bars, there was still quite abit of lag, so i can understand why he finds better connections etc in lobbies, does make it much more enjoyable.

@ Gustavo: Yes, I do use the quick tactics. In online ranked matches, you cannot use your own custom tactics. I typically play the default formation, with the standard pressure of Chelsea. Depending on game variants, I will adjust them accordingly. I suggest, that you use the possession tactic when you are ahead by a goal or two. Also, put your mentality to a defensive mentality to help your players get back. As CDarke mentioned, I play defensively tight, and this helps avoid the counterattacks.

@ BenAndrews: Surely, I'd like to play anyone! Just add me as your friend: UDLawman.

@ CDarke: Thank you for posting on my behalf to help validate the things I say. I thought you played a decent game. Honestly, you did make a mistake and I equalized. I think the game, honestly, should have been a 1-0 win in my favor. Good game though. You almost ended my winning streak. Also, thank you for pointing out that 3 bar green latency is probably the only way to go. I do play lobbies because I look for the people with solid connections.

@ Laddsy: I'm a Level 31. It was a ranked match, you may view my player hub statistics.

UDLawman,

Why do you keep referring yourself as the #1 player in the U.S.? I find this offensive. I am very competitive person and I play to win. However, I use the correct settings, manual, in order to do everything I can to win by controlling everything in my means possible. You, on the other hand, still use assisted settings. While still using assisted settings, you are implying to yourself and others that you still need help when playing. With all of this in mind, wouldn't you agree that the best player in the world should need as less help as possible? Thanks for your time.

UDLawman, I bet when you lost those 36 games to level 6's (which is pretty poor to be fair, considering your a level 31, right?) you were running around like a mental man with a look on his face to kill, I can just see it LOL.

Yes I am on the Playstation 3, therefore this 'clash of the titans' cannot take place. It really is unfortunate.

Unfortunate for the Mighty Leaf, as I would no doubt cruise to victory.

This is slightly off topic, and given that I'm trying to keep people on topic, and not have thread's get closed through no fault of my own, I do not want to digress from the subject. However, you do ask the "reason" I've made an advice thread. To that, my answer is as follows:

I referred to myself as the #1 player in the United States so people know that I am a credible reference. It's quantifiable, and can be proven by looking at the leaderboards. I have played almost 400 Fifa 10 ranked games, and regardless of what you may actually think of my skill, I have gained much experience. Experience on the way other player's play, common tactical strategies, common moves, etc... I have become very good at predicting what my opponent is going to do.

I also have perfected strategies and tactics that will yield me a win percentage of about 90%. I feel that I have very good experience that I wish to share with fellow Fifa 10 community members so they too can have a more enjoyable experience.

I take it you have not read any of my other threads before, so I will try to state this briefly. I DO NOT use only assisted settings. In fact, I agree with you 100%. Fully manual puts ME in control of everything I do, rather then leave it to the Fifa 10 "scripting" or "momentum" or bad breaks, or whatever. I play fully manual whenever I can. However, most people don't play fully manual, and given my limited amount of time I have to play during the day, I want to play as quickly as possible. Therefore, I have adapted to those playing only assisted, and evolved my style of play around that. I hope you can understand that having a 112 game, 72 game, and currently 40 game winning streak isn't easy to come by, regardless of the settings you use, or the people you play. I believe my record speaks for itself, and I am merely trying to enlighten other players by giving tips of my success.

I hope we can play one day.

Much better thread than the other ones as it actually attempts to provide a service for people.

And congrats on the rank, btw.

I love this nice guy attitude you bring to the forums with the ego on the side. You give me all of this experience nonsense with whatever win streak you have but yet you have an average opponent level of 6. You can't come on here thinking just because you've reached the #1 ranking by abusing and playing soft competition that you're all of a sudden a good FIFA player. No. I'm sorry. [Removed] As far as I'm concerned, you're the #1 assisted U.S. player in the world and in by no means is that an accomplishment.

i guess i don't understand why everyone is hating on the one person on here who writes funny threads, and gets people upset. the more tips lawman can give the better... whether he;s using manual or assisted, the sheer fact he wins all the time should tell you something.

Let's see you do better. He's the #1 FIFA player in the US and no amount of your pretending to be better or belittling his accomplish will change that. Last I checked, the #1 is the #1. Assisted or no, you're not there, and won't ever be at #1.

I don't see it being off topic tbh, you are saying your advice can improve other players because you are number 1, so I don't see whats wrong with debating how you got to number 1 and the worthiness of that position within this thread.

As long as its not outright flaming and any debate is constructive, which I believe if it was in the other threads the mods might not have closed them down, but I dunno maybe they do see it differently.

NOTE: these are the views of Racket89, the number 1 FIFA player in his house, and not those of the FIFA 10 forum members or mods as a whole. Copyright Racket89inc. 2009
