I've done quite a few games online.. unfortunately I've lost a whole bunch of them due to computer stupidity...
as an example: A opponent is running throw the wing and I'm doing pressure on him, but I see that the opponent is triggering a run with another player... and my defender just WATCHES him running through.. I try to switch player quickly so that I can rectify the marking on the guy who ran through but the player that is selected as NOTHING to do with the action, so basically: the guy running with the ball can make the whole run and the other one is completely free of marking, this happens a infinite number of times. Something else: when I pass to a player and I want him to run in the direction of the ball so he doesn't get anticipated, I try to make him run but he just stays there.. and conclusion, he get's anticipated. What about when the ball is loose and no one get's there but your defender is watching and you press the button to clear the ball away.. but he just watches... Am I missing something? Why don't those nuckleheads defend properly..? it's getting REALLY annoying |

I had the same problem before and I posted here about the same topic before. I think there are certain things you can do about defending through balls. First, if your opponent uses barca and likes to use IB9 to set up messi down the wing, try to disrupt IB's flow when he touches the ball. Don't give him space to do it in one touch and this will give your LB some time to get back. Second, I don't know how high you set your automatic switching, but higher seems to work for me. There is no way to completely shut down the through balls relying on the weak AI, so just let it go and focus on how not to give up a goal. Another thing I learned in online matches is that you have to have good offense skills to consistently win matches. It's not realistic to expect your defense to win a game for you. Keep attacking your opponent and maybe it will disrupt his play.
I lost a bunch of matches before because of the same problem and today I seem to be picking up and have won 5 matches in a row. I don't know if i'm playing newbies but some of them have really high points, so maybe I'm improving. |
