Q Still no save to HDD. Mo' lalalalalalas. There was this video on youtube of Fifa 10 and it look like they were doing some 360 dribbling, one thing I noticed was that defenders were backing off strikers like in real life. Looks awesome.
They are aware of the saving replays to HDD but David said not this year so maybe next year........i hope! A The defenders and MF's cover now and will stand off it looks impressive and adds a dynamic to the game which is cool/ Q I'm pretty sure La Liga games are played at night. Not all of them, and it wasnt a literal comparrison it was tongue in cheek. A Thats the problem with writing this stuff up is its taken to litterally when all I am trying to do is right something that gives an idea and in a light hearted way. As I said there are plenty of sites and facts about the game published here or on other sites like fifainformer.com or fifasoccerblog or sweetpatch.tv Q Also gcooley, is the bounce of the ball a bit more realistic this year? You know in real life when a striker gets off a snap shot and it bobbles and bounces a bit, and just slips past the keeper, in 09 all the shots are hit so cleanly that it gets a bit annoying. A Its better and in general the ball moves more true to life and it might just be the gameplay improvements but the pitches dont feel perfectly flat. Q some questions: 1.How close to real football we watch on the tv every sunday is fifa 10 in your opinion? (just write a percentage And what about fifa 09 in your opinion? A Fifa 10 70% Fifa 09 50% Q 2. Can you explain what is freedom in physical play actually is and how does it work? A Its about the way players come together. For example slide tackles and players coliding looks much more realistic. The biggest difference is now in tackling. When a striker run side by side they sort bounce off each other with the ball on its own course so its much more like :> Shoulder bounce shoulder shoulder bounce It has much more outcomes in terms of winning or ridding tackles and how you actually retain or win possession. 09 was quite linear in thisrespect IMO. Q 3. Does 360 dribbling give you the ability to actually turn in EVERY of 360 directions? A Yes as near as damn it. Q 4. Will 360 dribbling benefit equally all of the players, or its more usefull with skilled players like messi, ronaldo? A All players can do it just more skilled players can use contextual knock on or closer control and are slightly quicker at it. To get the most from it timing is critical and planning when to burst away or trick to beat defenders Q In practise mode can you - Play only half the field if you dont have have many players? A No only full pitch in the build I played. Q Play 10 vs 10? A Yes all with bibs on Q Have like say me and a friend playing by themselves against the keeper sort of like a 2 player arena? A Practice is multiplayer and you can pick the cam, I cant remember the minimum number of players allowed though. Q Have 1 on 1s? Decide wether the keeper is there or not? A The keeper is always there from memory. Q When you say , assing stadiums.. you mean in MM? Like, giving a 4th divison team a stadium? =D A Yes, you select a team and then pick a stadium for them Q I read somewhere that the shooting-system has changed : the first few moments you press the button, the power goes up for a low(er) shot. When holding the button longer, the shot goes higher. Is this right? A That was me. Yeah thats what the said over in canada. Shooing is a lot better and its possible to hit low driven shots. Q In what way have the skillmoves and the way you use them changed? Are they more realistic? I love the way defenders backup and give you a little bit of space to use skillmoves. A There are a few more and the animations are nice being that they are 360 degree now. They are more realistic and timing is still the crucial part along with the exit. Q )about 360o, does it works in first touch when the player is runinng? (in FIFA 09 you could turn only 22.5o and the defender 90% of the time could tackle you), is it posible in FIFA 10 with a fast player to avoid a defender that he is not moving? (i hope you can understand me) A Yes is the simple answer Q what in your opinion is the bigger change? from FIFA 08 to FIFA 09 or from FIFA09 to FIFA10? A 09 to 10 is the bigger change. Q Is the night ligthning improved like EURO 2008? A Just a nicer version of 09's to be honest but these are early builds so one would assume that any work on shaders or specular effects would be added later on Q did you try tribble with LB? A Yes and its ok but looked a little weird in the build I played. Q . Any info on the crowd atmosphere (if possible) A It is better but i have to be honest its not something i really notice when i play personally Q Is speed more accurately reflected in the game A Yes player speed differentials are closer and timing is more important to use speed. You cant just be ronaldo and sprint all the time and run round everyone. You need to time when you use it to be effective Q . Does the AI recognise when to sprint and not to sprint with regards to their fatigue levels. A Not sure as they are pretty good at dribbling and finding space without sprinting and were always healthier than mine team at the end of the game Q . If a ball is played to a striker in the box and they hit it first time does it still sail over? A First time shooting is better but it takes practice but over all the ball physics are better. There is a balance because in real life you see people miss sitters week in and week out. The thing is with a game is we play way more than real life players so its more apparent to us Q .Is the intro AI players or real players (like 03,04,05) A Dont know as we never saw any intro's per se. Q .what are the changes to fifa clubs? A I dont know as they havent discussed any online features or improvements Q Hi gcooley, was there any improvements to graphics, in particular player faces such as Torres, Mascherano, Vidic? Thanks Also, is defensive positioning and jockeying better? Dude graphics will be done latter in the cycle especially as it takes a lot of effort to get working builds out A Defensive positioning is much better jockying is smoothed out and 360 degree now Q Is long range shooting better than 09? Q Is there more goalkeeper animations? A Shooting is better thats not to say its more accurate but feels better. A Goal keepers have LOTS more animations A Infact we saw some nice dev videos of the goal keepers recovering and getting back to the line Q Now for the most important question. Does the referee still gets in the way? GOOOOOD Question. A There has been a lot of work on player and referee avoidance AI and now players actively try to avoid getting in the way, same with the ref although you will still hit them Q I thought this year they concentrated on gameplay rather than more bloody tricks A With all due respect to Adam who I met briefly in guildford. He had driven from manchester that morning and played for a couple of hours and drove back. I have played 10 for nearly 30 hours which is a lot different. Here is the rub. Skill moves are effective against "rushing" players if youstand off or just press tackle instead of hold it then skill moves are nigh on useless. Although I do understand Adams take on it I can't agree purely on the basis that the gameplay is chalk and cheese to 09. Sure the buttons are the same but if you try and play 10 like 09 you will be left wanting or disappointed. 10 plays like a grown up version of 09 and really to point at specific examples 360 degree dribbling is not a "trick" holding tackle is NOT good defending. See what I mean, there are a few more skill moves and contextual dribbling thats the only "tricks" and whilst the game speed is the same because fatigue and button holding no longer work like 09 its more "thinking" than rushing in to score 10 goal in 10 mins. To summerise I disagree with Adams comments and not being able to compare it to PES 10 leaves me at some what of a small disadvantage but I still believe that this is a MUCH better version of FIFA than 09. Thats not a good thing. 09 was a little too fast. Passing, player movement and ball physics have been changed. It doesnt play as fast if you dont want it too. Its flexible, hell if your playing a fast player wait till the second half when fatigue has done them Q : A very little detail but when the ball for example goes out of play and hit the ads, do they make this metallic "bang!" noise when the ball hits them? Or are they dead quiet like in FIFA09? I remember they made noise in earlier FIFA's and it was pretty realistic. A I didnt notice it but to be fair there was like hardly any sound up as we were in a room with 20+ other people and just the talking was loud enough Q : Did you notice anything new with the new advantage rule? Does the ref blow the whistle on the right time, or does he ruin your advantage etc? A No I didnt notice anything but DR has said that it has been reworked to give fouls quicker Q : You did say the atmosphere was improved, how? A The crowd made noises when the ref warned a player in the game as this isnt a cut scene anymore it gives that sense of being in the action all the time and the crowd felt more organic when chanting at those points. They are also working on localising the crowds etc which will add even more. Q : In FIFA09 there were only 8 directions right? And that made the outcome of shots pretty obvious as you could only shoot from 8 different angles, but with 360 degree movement will the shots vary alot more (like is it harder to predict the outcome of a shot)? A Well, in 09 on manual you could shoot in any direction but it took a lot of practice. Yeah it is more varied but with assisted shooting on your going to see the same goals if you play the same way game in game out. Semi was perfect for me and I scored quite a lot of different goals Q are custom tactics still in the game? A They were in our build but I think they are being greatly over hauled to stop the abuse of them in pressure and formations Q Do the linesmen get decisions wrong, like offside and the commentators comment on this, 'oh I think he was onside'? A No I didnt see this in the games I played although there were some time when you thought surely he is offside only to watch the replay and see he was onside Q Also, in 09 when you fouled a player after he shot in the penalty area it was given as a penalty which was very annoying, has this changed? A No because this is a penalty in real life unless the tackle was definately an attempt to block the shot and the attacking player either through momentum or on purpose runs in to the defender. Q I really hope that's the case this year. But just to get confirmation, the game speed of FIFA 10 is no different from 09's? A There are some differences but you need to clarify what you mean by game speed as I have my own opinion on what that is. For me its the speed at which the ball moves which seems very true to life. Alot of people dont realise that you only pass as quick as you want to its not the speed of the game that makes you pass faster. Q Did you notice if fullbacks make more intelligent runs? So if there's enough space will they go all the way down to the penalty box to cross like you see with guys like Maicon and Daniel Alves? I found it annoying in 09 how you had to spam L1 just to get your RB and LB forward when they should be getting forward by themselves sometimes. A They do make better runs in fact every player makes better movement from dropping short to support and look for it in to feet through to breaking players bending there runs to beat the offside trap. Q Have the throw-in takers been changed? What I mean is, when it's right up near their box, would I have my RB or someone else taking it instead of my RM? It's really annoying watching Camoranesi/Beckham etc. taking it when I want them to be receiving the ball. A Not that I could tell. It would be nice having the option in "kick takers" or something to pick who you want to take your long throw-ins. (For example Neville takes them for Everton and he plays CM/CDM, could I get that into the game?) Q Did the defense line got deeper? A Yes and more intelligent by covering or chasing back earlier. Q )Has Proprtion between players and the field been changed from fifa 09? Does the field seem bigger or do the player look smaller? Yes Q ) In Your opinion, how much shooting system has benn improved in general (just write a percentage) and are shoots outside the box easyer to score? A It should never be "easy" to score. Shooting is much better and feels more respective of real life Q Did You notice less "woodwork"? A Yes Q Thanks for the write up Glen, one thing i am hoping EA has changed is 50/50 balls. You know when the ball gets deflected and like a homing chip is in the ball it goes to a player? Is there 50/50 balls, where deflections go loose and you can get players running to contest? Thanks. have the questions been asked that we're in glen's thread in the Fifa 09 forum before he went to play test Fifa 10? he was going to take them for EA themselves to answer.

while i appreciate the answers, it still seems to me that the real problems of Fifa 09 haven't been ironed out in 10. Here are a few of them:
1/ The tripping animation runs the same length for ALL players. So Rooney trips for 3 seconds, as does C.Ronaldo. This isn't so in real life, and is particularly annoying in 09 when you know your player could easily recover quickly and fight for the ball. Rooney doesn't trip easily in real life and even when he's knocked off balance and loses the ball, he fights back and sometimes gets the ball again. This isn't represented in 09. 2/ Some turning animations are completely off in 09. There are times when the player turns and completely slows down. It's absolute rubbish and ruins the gameplay. In fact, I've completely avoided moving my player in certain directions because of this 3/ When the player runs towards the edge of the field and the ball is going out, the player slides to keep the ball in play. Good addition in 09, rubbish execution. The player slides, keeps the ball in play and takes forever to stand up. Even when he DOES stand up, it's like he's forgotten he has the ball and should keep going. During all of this stupidity, the ball is collected by the opposing player. 4/ Players sometimes allow the ball to pass by their feet and don't bother to collect it during passes. I've watched Rooney, Ronaldo, etc do this in Fifa 09 and wondered what the bloody h*ll the devs were thinking when making the game. Perhaps EA should employ better testers. 5/ Through pass, through lob, and crosses are completely useless in 09. Say what you wish; on assisted they may work, on semi everything falls apart. When I asked for help, someone told me to forget about through pass, set my pass to manual and use that instead for through passes. I had a question mark on my head while thinking, "Er ... forget the through pass? If it's in the game shouldn't it be used?" I won't even go near through lob. I've used it 5 times after owning Fifa for almost a year. 5 times. The crossing works when you're crossing into your opponent's box or out of your box or whatever - if that's what you're into. But crossing the ball so that my player doesn't have to stop, stand and wait for the ball to hit is chest is a complete no-no in Fifa 09. I can't remember other nonsense that riddle 09 but when I do I'll be sure to put them up. So far, all everyone's been talking about is 360 dribbling in Fifa 10. That's great. But if these problems I've listed persist, it just makes the game half finished. I still can't believe I haven't used a through lob in almost in year while playing a football game. It's like being able to walk but being forced to sit in a wheelchair forever. It's frustrating.

^ just to add to that, chesting the ball is horrendous. Every single time my player chests the ball it results in losing possession because they chest it about 10 yards in front of them, then get stuck in the "landing" animation with no hope of getting the ball.
I do hope this has been sorted.
