Thanks mate btw, tevez did the report himself on this occasion, he will be handling the writing that is not match reports (interviews transfers e.t.c) while we will be doing a joint effort on the match reports. And I am doing the graphics myself. Glad you're enjoying it though

Who's playing the games? . You've got to beat Etienne, I'll go 4-1 with Pjanic and Gomis scoring two each. .

Lyon, France

Olympique Lyonnais have today announced that they will take part in the inaugural “Stade Gerland Cup” as part of their pre-season preparation. It will take place in their own stadium, the Stade Gerland from the 16th to 19th of July. The teams taking part will be Saint Étienne, Grenoble, Schalke 04 and pre-tournament favourites Fiorentina. Eurosport have agreed to cover these games and French viewers can also watch it on French terrestrial television.

Chairman of OL, Jean-Michel Aulas believes this tournament will be amazing success in the history of Lyon, “Not only will this give our team a chance to get match-fit, but will bring in money from ticket sales and TV coverage.” Aulas then went on to say, “ Arsenal hold the Emirates Cup and Ajax hold the Amsterdam Tournament. Those are massive teams with massive stadiums so for Olympique Lyonnais and the Stade Gerland to be up there with them is an honour.” “The Stade Gerland has been awarded 4 stars by UEFA and was involved in the 1998 World Cup and this is definitely up there with those other achievements.”

But the man in the dugout, Claude Puel is more interested about his team, “This tournament will give us the chance to field our first team and some of the younger, inexperienced players. I definitely intend to play some of our youth. I am already looking forward to these games.”

In other news, John Mensah and Frederic Piquionne have put pen to paper in England, signing on loan for Sunderland and Portsmouth.

Lyon kick off the cup with a well deserved win.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

St. Etienne took a surprisingly defensive approach to this match and it worked in the early stages of the game. OL penetrated the defense twice with great runs from Gomis down the wings, but the A.S.S.E. defense easily dealt with his crosses.

The deadlock was broken after 13 minutes. It came from a well worked attack between Govou and Lopez. Govou sent a fantastic ball through the A.S.S.E. defence and Lisandro Lopez hit a well-placed finesse shot past the St. Etienne goalkeeper. Lyon definitely deserved their lead after dominating early in the match. OL kept possession well in defence as half time approached and Puel was very proud of his side in the first half.

As the second half began, a brilliantly worked attack left the crossbar shaking thanks to a powerful shot from Govou following Bodmer’s cross. Govou showed some fantastic skill, taking him past two defenders before the A.S.S.E. full back intercepted his pass.

St. Etienne started an interesting attack in the 60th minute which involved a plethora of fantastic passing leading to a shot which was punched away by the young Hugo Lloris.

As the game was nearing the finish, Bodmer powered down the wing and crossed for Batefembi Gomis, who headed into the net in the 87th minute.
When ASSE were quickly changing to a more attacking formation, Lisandro Lopez slid the ball through to Sidney Govou who easily slotted the ball into the top corner.

Sorry for the crappy table, is there a resource where you can simply input results with a table template? If there is, if someone could hook me up that'd be great! Cheers.

Good win and for tables of any sort just use Word/Excel, take a screenshot and tweak the pictures in Photoshop or whatever you use

Puel and Lopez disappointed at only being able to scrape a draw again Grenoble.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Lopez 66th

Boya 31st

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kazutoshi Watanabe, Grenoble chairman, is delighted at getting
a draw against the well prestiged Lyon side.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lyon continued their impressive form but failed to beat a poor Grenoble Foot team. There were no changes in the OL side from the one that comfortably defeated A.S.S.E. at the weekend. The fans turned out in their numbers for this midweek game and they were certainly making a riotous noise inside the Stade Gerland.

After 31 minutes of Lyon pressure, Grenoble made a counter attack. Pierre Boya’s header pounded off the crossbar but he was the first to react and tap in the rebound after an error from young Hugo Lloris.
Just 8 minutes after going behind, Lyon almost got back in the game when Sidney Govou went through on the goalkeeper. The defenders put enough pressure on him to force the ball wide.
Not long later, the goal scorer Boya also went through on the keeper but like Govou, pulled it wide of the target.

Lyon had to get back into the game and at half time, Puel knew he had to make a change. New signing Bafetimbi Gomis came on for Delgado.

Again, a Lyon player was through on goal but failed to deliver. This time it was Lopez. The Grenoble goalkeeper was down his throat before he even had the chance to shoot.

After 1 hour and 6 minutes of play, Lopez made up for his missed chance. He picked up the ball just outside the area and fired the ball into the bottom corner.
Despite both teams changing their tactics to a more attacking formation, neither side could get the winner and the match ended all square.

After tonight's game, Puel was asked about adding to his team. He refused to give too much away apart from the fact that OL have been having words with attacking midfielder Yoann Gourcuff, however when asked to give more information - his response was "no comment."

Hopefully more information will be released about this rumour sometime in the coming weeks.

Ye, 10. I meant to say I had 17 images but they only let me use 10.

Only a draw yep, they didn't deserve their goal though...

Ah well, still at the top of the table, end of the day that's all that matters.

OL LOOK TO GOURCUFF

Yoann Gourcuff in a press conference after training today.

Bordeaux, France
11.45 GMT
FC Girondins de Bordeaux have today reported that Ligue 1 rivals Olympique Lyonnais are in for one of their star players Yoann Gourcuff. According to Bordeaux manager, Laurent Blanc, Lyon put in a measly 2.5 million bid for the playmaker earlier this morning. Gourcuff was inspirational in the title winning side and Blanc doesn’t want him to leave easily. The 23-year-old Frenchman recently signed permanently for the title holders after being on loan from Milan last season. The fee was in the region of 13 million so Lyon will have to vastly increase their offer.

An angry Laurent Blanc said, “If Lyon want Yoann, they better increase their offer. At first, I thought they had offered 25 million. I was just about to get on the phone to Yoann and talk about his options. (Laughs)”

Yoann Gourcuff said at a press conference today, “If OL put in a bid of about £20 million, the gaffer said he would accept it if I was interested. So am I interested? Well, we are the champions but Lyon are a massive club. It would be an honour to play for them. It is still unthinkable to leave Bordeaux. I’ll just have to see how it goes.”

Btw, signing Gourcuff would be unrealistic, I don't think he'd ever go to Lyon. Especially not as Lyon are title rivals to Bordeaux.
