Default Middlesbrough FC ~ Rivalry follows you everywhere

Middlesbrough FC ~ Rivalry Follows You Everywhere

Club Factfile

- Name: Middlesbrough FC
- Formed: 1876
- Turned Pro: 1889
- Owner: Steve Gibson
- Current Manager: Gareth Southgate
- Current Divison: The English Championship

Brief Club History

Middlesbrough FC formed in 1876 and have had limited success over the last 133 years with only one major trophy to their name, the carling cup in 2004. The club has hadn't luck on it's side for most of it's existence with four major final losses, most notably in the Uefa cup just three years ago.

Whats To Come

Things had looked up for Boro in recent years, with a major trophy finally secured and back-to-back Uefa qualifications it looked like Boro were taking major steps forward but, unfortunately a few player lost here and there and they suddenly found themselves a divison below but with major rivals Newcastle following them down. Now it's a race for the championship title between two clubs with no love lost. Who knows what may follow once they're up?

Manager

Gareth Southgate

Factfile
Age: 39
Playing Career: Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, Middlesbrough.
International Career: 57 Caps (2 Goals).
Playing Position: Centre Back
Managerial Career (At Present): Middlesbrough.

Brief Bio

Southgate swapped his boots for the teamsheet three years ago and has so far shown mixed quality as a manager. At teams he made the team shine, example being an 8-1 victory over Manchester City justover a year ago, but he is also responsible for getting a club that seemed at least mid-table quality relegated and there have been many times were Boro fans may have been right to call for his head.

The manager should have learnt from his experiences though and he will be under pressure to get a promotion this season for if he should not get Boro back into the Premiership, Steve Gibson may finally show a more unforgiving side.

Yeah, it's my first one and I'm not too good with graphics nor do I have the right programs but as long as presentation isn't everything, it can be good right?

I think that may be enough info for the moment, player details will need to be added at some point but I think it's time for the first update.

Pre-Season Summary

Gareth Southgate called a press conference earlier today to talk about the start of the season and the upcoming friendlies announced.

First of all, the friendlies, Southgate announced that Middlesbrough will be warming up against Doncaster, Ipswich, Chievo and Leverkusen before the start of the Championship season. These seemed like odd choices considering two of these clubs (Ipswich, Doncaster) are in Boro's own division, Southgate quickly responded to this saying that, 'It'll will give us a good eye on the opposition.'

He then proceeded to take questions which of course always find their way to transfer talk. Southgate kept tight-lipped on many transfer rumous but confirmed that the signing of James Brown from affiliate club Hartlepool United was almost complete. Many fans are already hoping he is more confident with his other signings.

Rod Scottson, Sky Sport News.

Kudos to anyone who gets the Walk On the Wildside referrence. .

Good start mate, though one thing; stick the text on the left and not in the middle? It makes your articles look like a tower. .

Sorry for the late update, I have less time during the week so I didn't have much chance to update, I'll try to get two updates a week though. There won't be much match description as I simmed the friendlies.
Thanks for all the response.

Friendly Fever

Today marks the end of Boro's pre-season friendlies and pre-season has had a mixed reaction on most Boro fans which would seem odd due to the negativity of the results, despite a 3-0 win over fellow Championship team Ipswich, they had a pretty bad set of results. This would be due to the three losses in their other games against Doncaster, Chievo and an absoulute hammering from Leverkusen.

The Doncaster match drew few positives for Boro as they lost 2-1 to a team who should be of poorer quality to them in the championship, Emnes' goal didn't do much to distract the fans from the poor defeat. It was a less local friendly next as Boro flew to Italy to play Chievo, it was a hard fought match but St.Ledger and Aliadiere's goals didn't do enough to achieve victory, as they lost 3-2 with the winner being snatched late with twelve minutes remaining. After that it was German opposition, Leverkusen and it was a match they'll want to forget about as they lost 4-1 with Johnson snatches Boro's consolation. Fans are hoping the team will solve their minor losing streak when they face Watford in the league.

There were also a few signings confirmed over the July period as James Brown put pen to paper along with less speculated signings, Wes Hoolahan from Norwich and James McArthur from Hamiltion Academical, these signing came to an estimated combined fee of £3.1M. Boro also saw one departure as centre mid Mohamed Shawky moved to Crystal Palace for £1M.
Soon to be reporting from Vicarage Road,
Rod Scottson, Sky Sports News.
