FYI, the Canada trip was more about game design than anything else. Also, meeting face-to-face with the biggest, most knowledgable fans of the series is invaluable in many ways for the development team. No-one was there to 'test' anything - it was about saying, 'ok, here's what we're doing, what do you think of the idea?'

And, having organised the thing, it was a magnificent success on those terms.

Secondly, there'll be more detail on the content of a game update coming soon.

Does that include specifics about what the manager mode fixes will be?

great now I understand what that was all about, I very much look forward to reading EA's comments regarding the forthcoming update and specifics that are being addressed & as to why these bugs weren't picked up in testing............that is if you did test the game

Define "soon"? It's such a wonderfully vague term.

To be fair. If it takes a month to sort out all the major issues then I'm fine with it. As long as the wait seems worthwhile. Though they messed up by making it so bug ridden. I think the magazine reviews were due to the reviewers playin an exhibition game or too and not a full season as they'd not give it such a high review. to me this game rates at a very generous 7 out of 10

Sure.

In the meantime, an open apology and explanation of how it's possible for a mode so badly broken to be shipped would be nice, it'd take all of 10 minutes to type up and would really mean a lot to many of us.

That would be one bitter pill to swallow admitting that they shipped a broken product Placebo....

Think we have more chance of extra terrestrial contact than to get an apology off these guys!

An apology admits incompetence..! Incompetence breeds bad publicity!

It all depends on how committed they are to being the new face of EA Sports, where they listen and react to the wishes of the community.

don't get me wrong, i am primarily a MM fan, want a great experience, but the online feautures is what sells all games now. the past 4 games i have bought have required pretty serious patches. its the way it is these days. frustrating to not be perfect out of the box, but great we have patches. whether this is a strategy or not, having everyone on these boards highlight the bugs/flaws is the best testing possible. and if the patch works, everyone is good. they NEVER would get the quality of testing that serious MM players would give... its a numbers thing. i am thankful for guys like placebo and chris davies doing the testing. the passion comes through.

now, there are some issues that one would assume would be easy to find...

So this is where they need to bring in these new laws to prevent software companies such as EA releasing titles which are laden with issues... Even if it takes a year of development and a year to thoroughly test & fix issues, I think that's worth waiting 2 years for each time. It also stops these companies getting greedy while delivering sub standard products to the consumer! BRING IT ON I SAY...!!

Better to have a complete game on release day than one riddled with over 60+ problems, which at this point we don't even know whether they can all be fixed via an update!

I'm sorry I'm just making fun for myself out of your wooly response, I do expect EA to underline the fixes in MM and am sure they will, when they can.

i agree with the life cycle of these games needs expanding! big believer in that.

it would be a better game, but we would still need a patch. guys like placebo, chris davies, etc... thats real passion. its not a job and the numbers of players will catch things. its just the way it is. i think in a weeks time (ok, predicting end of next week) we will all be happier for it. and can thank davies and placebo.

"Soon" is us saying we're working on it, but can't tell you when that will be exactly, because right now we're still working on it and therefore don't know exactly when that will be concluded. Ya see?

with all due respect, how can you afford to say "soon" at all if your still working on it.

How about NOT releasing an unfinished product? That would be easier

When I commissioned a work I am obliged to give and maintain a release date otherwise they are forced to pay fines. Fortunately, the EA does not manage a department of surgery at a hospital in otherwise poor patients waiting in agony...
