Hi Everyone,

This is my only second post here, so let me introduce myself. I’m Andrew Marks, one of the QA (Quality Assurance) leads for FIFA 10, and work close to the Development team at EAC in Burnaby, Canada.

I’ve seen many people post here with issues they have had in FIFA 09. Unfortunately, a few issues (bugs/glitches) slip through the cracks in any Game's Development, and FIFA 09 was no exception. I’d like to take a look at them, but in order to do so I need the proper information to reproduce them.

I’d like to use this thread for you to post the issues you have had. Please note that I won’t get around to replying to every post, but will try to get to some of them, while hopefully getting to all of the major issues.

Also keep in mind that I can't comment on anything in future releases, so please stay away from those questions.

Please keep these in mind BEFORE posting your issues to this thread:

If the issue is new in FIFA 09 since the Ultimate Team update, or is an issue with Ultimate team itself, please post it to the Ultimate Team forum. Ultimate Team has its own Development & QA team. If you take a look at those forums the Producers and Mods have been very helpful at getting issues sorted out.
If the issue could hinder/exploit online play, please send it in a private message and do not post it here.

When you have made sure of the above point, please include the following when posting your issue:

Please provide clear steps on how to reproduce the issue. Point form is preferred to large paragraphs.
Provide as many details as possible. While things like teams/kits/formations usually aren’t specific to issues, the more info you give the more likely I am to reproduce it.

Once again, I’ll do my best to get to as many of the major issues as possible, so please keep follow everything above to make this possible.

To be honest, The most annoying things about the game are online, Exploits which as you stated, I can't say on here.....

Referring to all the glitches etc, then giving us ultimate team.

Basically, read this thread, many people have voiced their issues with the subtle changes in gameplay since the update: Rutter - Gameplay?

We've been told it's in our heads and people are just using custom tactics more effectively, but this many people can't be wrong, surely?

could you maybe take this on board about online boosters? its just the way the set up is for players to play whoever they like for online ranked matches maybe to stop the players boosting and playing there mates to get free win's is let guys if they want to play there mate's offiline so they can play each other as many times they like and leave the online rank matches so that ye dont know who your playing like the way ultimate team is now its a random select or put in place a strict play person once only policy for ranked games only

by doing this it will hopefully eliminate the cheats and we can have the best aat the top and EA wont be wasting time on reading replying and trying to find these cheats

Manager Mode, 2 matches played on same day
(FA rules are minimum 72 hours between matches I believe?).

Steps to reproduce: Play manager mode as a Premier league team, don't be knocked out of the FA Cup, eventually you will have to play a premier league match and an FA Cup match on the same day (this bug has been in Fifa since I believe Fifa06 on PS2, never been fixed).

Applies to Xbox 360 & PS3 (no idea about current gen).

The same team appearing twice in the ECC or EFA in MM. This happens almost every season. It even happened to me once...I was in both Group A and Group E at the same time.

My Manager Mode freezes while its simming, a couple/few seasons in to the mode, im not the only one with this problem either, im on ps3 btw.

Injured & suspended players in BAP (PS3 version) don't return to the team until the following season.
They can be selected via the team management option from the main menu but are not available when you get to the team management screen for the specific match.
I only noticed this when I became captain of the team and could control the team management so I'm not sure whether the bug only kicks in at that point.

Any chance of a similar thread initiated by the devs at EA regarding suggested improvements to specific offline game modes?

(To other posters - please don't trash the thread with flaming and whinging about online cheaters, the latest update etc - EA will just stop listening)

That isn't what I meant by that. All I'm asking is that if you have steps on how to use an exploit, please send them to me privately. That way it won't be publicly visible for everyone to try out.

I'll try to get to some more questions tomorrow. Please remember to include as much information as possible. Things like Teams/Transfers can help track down issues you might find in Manager Mode.

Hi Andrew,
My 4 issues are:
1 - Not being able to customize both 'attack' and 'defense' at the same time, its either one or the other.
2 - Players not being onside after making runs from inside their own half, an attacking player can't be offsides if none of the opposing defenders are not in their own half of the field.
3 - When I play someone with little EA points, I can't seem to make headway against them. Shotlalalalaing the post, the ball bouncing off my players etc. Then I rematch them then I hit them bout 4.
4 - Goalkeepers handling the ball outside the box should be punished.

I just have one complaint, Manager Mode freezing during my third season.

I had a great team built and at the start of the third season it froze, simming after the game and it gets stuck at 22%. It sucks but we can't do anything!

what kind of details do you need? Squad size? Signings?

I can get you details later on, i shall edit this post.

One good way to highlight bugs in the game is to use the open-source Bugzilla. Bugzilla is used by many open-source communities (Bugzilla) to report, track and closed bugs.

Hi there
I would absolutly love if you could sort my problem for me? After hundreds of hours of playing solidly and exclusively on line i managed to get my rank down to 3000 overnight without me playing it i turn it on the next day i am ranked 9k i was so confused and angry that i couldnt concentrate and lost a few games now im not ranked at all? What is going on? Tbh after playing over 1300 games since the day it came out this has obviously left me really annoyed and its put me off playing. If you could look at my account and fix this if possible i would be really really grateful. My username is Yarm79 and i am on playstation3. Thankyou

^^ That has to do with Ultimate Team mate. People are apparntly gaining ranking places by playing the CPU in torunaments etc.

I have a few questions:

Why don't your division of EA patch your games more if you see quite obvious problems? And do tell me: If EA can add a game mode, why couldn't they put edit kit number back in? Surely that is less complicated. Foot in mouth much?

And how come it seems that almost any team not in the EPL is done a horrible injustice in ratings?

OK well some of these there is no definite way to reproduce them but I'll point them out.

Player Switching - Its way too random and imprecise. Its not like in the old FIFA's where it would switch to the player you are pointing your analog stick in. And the right stick isn't the solution because it 'cycles' through the field.
Ball watching - this mixed with the awful player switching makes defending very annoying. Defenders will watch a ball, especially lobbed balls, until it passes them and then they react to it after the forward is gone with it.
Uploading replays from BAP Seasons - I have tried uploading replays from games in that mode a couple time and every single time it froze the game after 50%. I then have to restart the PS3 and lose all that progress.

I'm not sure if you've done this but have you tried turning down the auto switching assistance so you have no assistance on where you switch?? I know sometimes if its turned on and you're switching, it will go to something you sometimes dont want.

My issues: (i have a ps3)
1 - shooting from kick-off!!! that bug has to go!
2 - on corner kicks... the goalkeepers not being very responsive. online i see people trying to cross the ball on the second post and the goalkeeper just stays still.
3 - on corner kicks it is very easy to score with certain teams. EXAMPLE(when i play with chelsea VS Inter, and Inter gets a corner, the game gives me ashley cole against Ibrahimovic! why do the central defenders get never selected as the first choice and put players like ashley cole on the post.)
4 - instead of the famous crab walk...now we have the problem of the defender turning around when somedy does a (L1+Traingle) loobed pass with the right timing...

makes it very easy to go 1 VS 1 with the GK....

Also called as Ball watching - Defenders will watch a ball, especially lobbed balls, until it passes them and then they react to it after the forward is gone with it.
5 - Fouls that are usually given outside the box (like in midfield)....inside are never given..

Hi Andrew.

First of all, congrats on an excellent game, that exceded every espectation and proved other companies (K.....) what is to make quality.

This is what I think FIFA needs.

1) Can you guys add to the online leagues (regular fifa no ultimate team) the possibility to play 2 games only, no 1 or 3 or 5, Every real football competition plays by that rules, so WHY DID YOU MAKE IT THAT WAY? The idea is to can be able to select to games, home and away, why isn´t that available? i don´t think it would be hard to change it.

2) In the same issue, can you make that we can choose the scoring type we want in the leagues? I mean, I prefer to see the points in numbers than watching numbers of victories, losses and draws.

3) Could you be able to add an ONLINE CUP, for 8, 16, 32 and 64 players? it would be really usefull. It can be played the same way than leagues, don´t know why didnt you include it.

4) Celebration Creation.

5) Finally the TEAM CREATION issue, i dont know why you included the Creation of a player if you have to put him on a already existing team.
People Enjoy to recreate Fantastic Teams, or just local Teams that don´t appear on the game (my case).

This Mode should count with:

a) Team Flag or Logo created by the user, HDD image or in-game desing.
Also Uniform desing for the user, HDD Images, PSeye or in-game desing.
b) Posibillity of Playing with the team Online on a Not Ranked Match.
c) Posibillity of copying a already existing player to your team, for the ones that want to make an All Stars Team, the idea of just Copying C. Ronaldo, Messi, Kaka, etc, is needed.

The Hole idea is a Much More Customizable Game, Beleive me, if this features are available onda FIFA 10, you wont have competition.

2) What wrong with the Interactive Team mode? Some games are not being counted as a win this mode?

Improve player switching

I have one notch at the auto switching assistance and sometimes when my opponent has the ball i cant switch to the player i want using the right analog or the player switch button, seems that im stuck with the player im controlling at that moment and i can only manage to switch seconds later...

Slow game speed pls

Sometimes looks like im playing tag instead of football...

Nlynx Rookie Join Date: Feb 2009 Posts: 207	Improve player switching I have one notch at the auto switching assistance and sometimes when my opponent has the ball i cant switch to the player i want using the right analog or the player switch button, seems that im stuck with the player im controlling at that moment and i can only manage to switch seconds later...
