^ EA Sports have abondoned here and every other thread depicting issues with FIFA 09 since the most recent patch (UT) and even decided to refer to us as delusional in a recent podcast - pathetic ****ers, even after we buy their product.

This has probably been asked but theres pages and pages on this thread !

Why is it, I have problems trying to play against a couple of my friends.

In hub, if i invite them to a game, it goes to the select club screen but they cant change club or even select one.

Same thing happens to me if they send the invite.

Does not work, ie the same happens if we try and play through the lobbies.

Any suggestions ?

Was that a post directed at me? If you read the whole post you will see that I have tried plugging my xbox straight into the modem to no avail. My friend is not using a router and I have this problem with all games I play online.

It was directed to MackemTipTop as he has info about hes problem at the 1st pg of this thread i think.

EA has abandoned us and they dont know *** its wrong with fifa, or maybe they do but they will fix it for fifa 10 and we just have to play with this crappy fifa 09 online issues.

But i believe they dont know *** is going on with this game

Not everyones a techy geek you know you boring little man.
This game is the only one I own where I have to lalalalala on with ports and such like. It shouldnt be like that, its basically a balls up by the makers.

Sorry in advanced if i have posted this in the wrong area.

I have only started to get involved with online gaming and loving it at the mo, my only issue i have with this game is that i am unable to play against a friend (not online) with control pads on 1 & 2, i have to always change my controller settings to 1 & 3, at first i thought i had an issue with the game, so i sent it back, and still had the same problem, i swapped it 3 times with one place before going elsewhere and buying the game again (hoping it to be a bad batch) - I still have the same problem.

I have done the updates on my PS3 and is fully up-to-date, i have even done a factory reset on my ps3 as well.

I still have the problem, is there any reason to why I experience this and has anyone else had this problem where you cannot play with the control pad settings as 1 & 2?

Thanks in advance for any help I can get on this.

Hey is it me just me or have a lot of people been unable to start up a game ranked recently?

I assume it's just me; whenever I start up a game it seems as though I am the only one who can change my team and then after a couple of seconds it says "this game session is no longer available". I seem to only be able to connect with about 4/10 people.

could it be something to do with my new router (Linksys WRT54GL); brought a couple of days ago?

What settings would I need to change?

If I do a network connection test It says UPNP is disabled could this be a problem? and how would I enable it?

Should I set up Port Forwarding? by the way I'm playing via Ethernet through my Router

Also does port forwarding affect a wireless connection?

Used to play this title quite a lot, but lately there has been so much lag I am not getting any enjoyment out of it. I would love to get some help diagnosing the problem. I am not getting regular lag as in latency, I get "jittery" players that remind me of packet loss. It is most prominent when there's a lot of players on scrren at once, and especially with fast scrolls (such as when the goalie kicks the ball out). As this happens VOIP (we use headets) also cuts out and gets choppy.

This is the thing. I play with my friend via the "play a friend"-tab. As far as I understand this establishes a P2P connection. We have taken a rather long break, and unfortunately a lot of things have changed making it hard to determine what is actually causing the problems because of many factors.

Since we used to play a lot and have zero issues I have
1) Gotten a new xbox (replaced my old one with a Jasper)
2) Gotten a new modem for a 50/10 mbit-service. This supposedly uses some new Docsis mode that allows for higher connections via cable.
3) The new dashboard update and other updates in game have been done.

This is what I've tried.
1) Playing other players.
Does not help. I still get the jittery play.

2) Disconnect my router and plug my xbox straight into the modem.
Does not make a difference.

3) Done line quality tests at MyVoip. This is how it looks. Rather good as far as I can see.








4) Reformated my Xbox in case there was something weird with the new dash update. Don't ask me why, I'm desperate.

I am starting to wonder is something is defective on my xbox, as unlikely as it sounds. Possibly something weird with the network part of it. I don't play many other games online, but I have played Rainbow six and COD 4 without any problems.

I also want to add that for my friend the game seems completely normal, making me doubt it's a connection issue.

I am really at a loss here. Can anyone please point me in any direction on what to try?

It does not matter how hard you try, they won't answer, I believe you will have to make a decition about continue playing with this sluggish connection or swith to "Pro Evolution Soccer". I experience the same problem, and I have tried everything you did. I even suspect it has to do with some kind of banning by some EA programmer who was defeated by a player who then gave us the course.

Why is OTP setup so poor?

Even NHL 09 is marginally better. At least the counter for that game is only 2 minutes and they can customize the number of human players.

One great thing about FIFA is the ability to boot players in-game (although the list of players doesn't make it obvious who's on which team).

They need to give you the ability to boot players at the session screen and at the position select screen.

Too many people won't click in or they just leave the controller holding everyone else up.

have had it a couple of times now in online RANKED matches.

My opponents have Christiano Ronaldo playing at FC Barcelona, Bolton Wanders has strikers with 99 speed, Teams with 0,5 star have players like Cech, Drogba, C.Ronaldo, Lampard and Gerrard and i have played Fulham who brought in Ronaldo (from corinthians). And these are only examples.

Is this cheating or not? And how are they managing to do this.

I honestly dont understand how you can say that, of course it is.

I should be able to go to ranked game and get one first off instead of having to quit out and retry.

No other game does this ! so it cant be that hard.

From my understanding most other games use a server based connection. Fifa online is P2P.

Its well documented that you need to forward your ports. if you arent able to do it yourself, i would be surprised if you dont know someone who knows their way around a router. its just a webpage to program it. Whether you like it or not thats the way it is. takes 10 minutes tops.
