Default FIFA 09 1080i

I have my PS3 set to 1080i. Whenever I put a game in it automatically switches to 720p (correct me if I'm wrong but the majority of games are played in 720p). However, it doesn't change when I play FIFA.

As a result, the picture looks blurry and utterly crap, and the only way I can play it in 720p as it should be played is if I manually change the settings all the time. Does this happen to anybody else?

Yeah I know that but why doesn't my PS3 automatically change to 720p like it does with every other game I've tried?

I haven't got any upscaler on I don't think.

Sorry I'm still pretty new to PS3 so I may sound like a noob!

the ps3 can output at 1080p - 360 is 1080i only. to be honest very few games run at 1080 anyway. fifa is upscaled to 1080i/p (depending on how good the TV is). you can simply block the 1080i resolution on the ps3 if you want but why bother?

I have a PS3 with fifa 09

I have a 360 with fifa 09

PS3 looks better because I have a 40" 1080p sony bravia 2 engine tv

Xbox 360 is better for clubs since it has the party up option that allows you to ignore your opposition and just get stuck into the match.... I've also found I have less problems with the 360 online despite both machines being connected via ethernet with a 20meg gaming connection.

*** are you talking about, me and most of my friends have a 360 and fifa 09 and it actually can as well output 1080p upscaling. and YES the picture on the 360 version is sharper but WHO CARES, the difference is soo little anyway. i played both version on a 50" 1080p TV and the only differene really was that the ps3 version was blurrier and the 360 version sharper =/.

Actually, the 360 is not true HD and is, in fact, holding back the video game market with it's inferior DVD ROM. No DVD can display 1080 so no duel system game can be in 1080.
Microsoft done ****ed up and are thinking of ways to nickle and dime the suckers who went ape **** over an upgraded Halo game in order to get even with the PS3's Blu-Ray.
Fact.

Must be something wrong with your cable or the TV. Check the TV's settings too.

i take it thats the new one with HDMI? composite cant do 1080i, which most xboxes are, only the new ones have HDMI dont they?

also, techincally the output using HDMI is much better than the component, but i suppose most people just use them through a crap TV anyway, so makes no difference.
