Look at this YouTube - Overmars VS Cristiano Ronaldo en velocidad
Look at the moment of the pass, Overmars is a few meters behind Ronaldo and he gets to the ball a meter or so in front of Ronaldo.

we could have this discussion countless times with different players who've beaten Ronaldo/Gabby/Lennon on different occasions. sometimes, very fast players get beaten to the ball like that, it happens.

That was 4 years ago, look at Ronaldos stats compared to Overmars' in Fifa 04/05.
Or even now.

I don't think Ronaldo is 1/100 slower than Walcott/Agbonlahor, or is he even said to be the same?
He is definitely slower, or Walcott/Agbonlahor are faster, as well as some other players...

yer i agree, ronaldo at top speed isnt very fast, he got good accelaration and agility in real life however wen running at top speed he is no way faster then agbonlahor/walcot or even torres.. he just takes small quick steps where as players stated above and other fast players take big strides at a time, he no way runs as fast as they have made him out to be on fifa.. look at nike murcary stats, ronaldo was like 7th/8th fastest player in the prem, they looked at top speeds of players.

Overmars in his prime was one of the fastest footballers I've ever seen. I think he'd finish at least 10-15 yards ahead of C. Ronaldo end to end on a pitch.
The real crime here is that some strikers are so fast that if they get behind your defense at the midfield line you have no way to catch them and so the entire game can be won with a fast striker. It unbalances the importances of all the other aspects of the game. |

The fact what EA must understand, is that there are plenty of players, that play in low leagues that are fast as hell!!!
Running speed is not something that only happens in the prem. league or La Liga!!!! Fix this!!

remember its only the well known players who get great speed, adam johnson for middlesboro' is rapid in reality, yet because he doesnt play for a 5 star team he's as fast as everyone else.

Not really.
There are quit alot of teams in lower divisions with fast players. What I do think is that these players in the lower leagues are definitely under researched, and alot of the time they get ratings completely wrong.

1st. in that video, Overmars in on the inside of the ball and it's moving in his direction, Ronaldo on the outside trying to take the ball, not beat him to it.
2nd. Many players need a speed increase in future Fifa's. The trick is not making speed count so much to the players overall. Speed is a gift, not a talent. |
