Default HELP!!! How do I take free-kicks???

I have fifa 09 on the xbox 360 and I am into the season but I am generally trying to practice free-kicks and I can't seem to get them right, i miss and the keeper saves far too many.

I have looked on youtube and found various videos on how to take a perfect free-kick and how to curve the ball but sometimes for me, the ball curves and sometimes it don't, it's weird even though I use the L stick to hold to the left (for left curl) or right (for right curl) my free-kicks are very inconsistant as I just can't get them right, I am using Ronaldo in the arena too so it's not because the player is lalalala.

I would just like someone to explain to me what I am doing wrong surely Ronaldo can't miss 50 odd free-kicks on the edge of the area without scoring one and furthermore having no wall to stop it can he?

Hope someone can help me out, thanks in advance.

Ricky

Hold LB, aim for the nearest corner, power up while holding the Left stick up. the power must be determined by distance.

Go to Arena mode and perfect your shots!
The most important thing is watching ur Shot Meter fill up, as you learn and practise you'd know how much shot to fill your meter with. Its more about practise than learning, practise a lot mate and you'd get it!

hello there...I hope I cant explain well enough for you. first of all let's look at your player and the wall. your player is almost looking straight at the wall, what you have to do here is tilt the camera( or player view) further away from the angle you are going to shoot at.

not too much but not too little. next, and here comes the tricky part what you want to press first is the left stick( dont know what is called but I assume is L-stick) actually you dont press it you move it rapidly to the angle you want to shoot. now here is the trick as you move it to the side quickly, immediately press circle but dont press to much either, you want to raise the power bar no more than half, well depending on how far away you are from the keeper.

note it all happens in a heartbeat, as soon as you let go of the circle you let go of the left stick. also dont move the stick too much to one side, like not all the way, but dont be shy either

I know I probably just confused the hell out of you right now, I learned it from my brother and a few days ago I scored my first freekick online .
it's hard but that's the challenge sometimes I hit the post, some others it barely misses by an inch, some of course goes to the spectators.

one more thing. if you move the left stick straight to the side the ball will go low , so if you want it like high in the angle move it to the side/upwards. well I hope that helps a bit , good luck!!!!
