I disagree. PES was king for yearssssss. ON 360, PS3 they have dropped the ball and been left behind. It's like they are using the original sony walkman while Fifa is rocking the ipod. Like night and day. PEs is outdated. What they need is a new crew at Konami with ideas, passion, innovation, talent, a total new direction. The PES team is stale and it shows in their games. Sorry, I tell it like it is and that's coming from someone who was a diehard pes fan. I just support who makes the better game, period.

Your asking this question to the FIFA 09 forum, of course everyone is going to say FIFA 09...But honestly after playing the PES demo, I picked FIFA hands down...

one more thing. players have faster reactions in PES. that's the biggest thing that attracts me to PES. in fifa 09, after you press B or circle to shoot, it takes a while before the striker actually shoots. same with crossing, passing, and any of the controls really. in PES, passing and shooting is instantaneous. that's why i said PES is more realistic. it's more reaction based whereas FIFA is more speed based. there is no way that PES plays faster than FIFA. in PES, it's more about reaction. in FIFA, it's all about speed and running fast. that's why theres so many france and ronaldo bashers in FIFA forums but not PES

PES vs FIFA.... Simple and easy to mention now... FIFA09 is the best simulation game for now.... That means FIFA is better than Pro Evo.... Alot of Pro Evo fans now turn up to say Goodbye to Pro Evo, Welcome the new era of FIFA series.....

I don't think Pro Evo can catch up FIFA gameplay on PS3 or X360... It's too late now for Seabass to start over to create new engine for next gen console....

I'm just hoping FIFA series won't let down their fans.... FIFA have to make a lot of improvement for FIFA10... Like FIFA08 to FIFA09, it's really huge improvement...

PES' new engine will have many kinks to sort out. Look at EA and Fifa 07 compared to Fifa 09. Like night and day. While 07 showed much promise it was abysmal and now 09 is very very good although EA have awhile to go. At this pace, we can see near perfection by Fifa 2013. If it took EA3 years to come out with this great game and, they have a very ambitious crew at EA that clearly take pride in Fifa nd are talented. Now over at Konami, I dont see the passion (from seeing sebass & co. in there videos) and dont see half the talent fifa has. They are stale. The only thing thats gonna save em is if they get a new motivated talented team with fresh ideas to work on PES. They got left behind *IMO.

*Add "IMO" and everything is fine. ex: "You're a muppet, IMO."

I got PES 09 at xmas and well i have already started a thread on this but overall while Fifa 09 is a better football game and experience ultimately its a dispapointment in the sense that some of the ideas and play border on genius, but and its a big but- it feels like a piece of unfinished software.

The sidestep issue and speed could of been better executed and with a bit more testing and development it would be a 9.5 Game. The problem is EA seem to be in a rush to release it, why they cannot wait for November god only knows.

There are still items and gameplay features that EA could learn from Konami and basically one thing that impresses me about PES09 as a solo offline player is opposition AI.

In konami's game the Opp AI seems to vary there attack a lot more and tend to use more of the pitch, why EA every year seem to want to re create the Sensible Soccer style pitch dimentions god only knows, The pitches need to have variety and feel bigger on EA games. You dont feel as though your in a big arena, the play is often pinball like because players feel stiffled, to compensate EA makes the players too small on the Tele-Can, alternatively PES feels wider, the players are crisper, even though in a peculiar kind of way EA's effor is graphically superior.

Konami's effort this year after 08 debacle is literally silky smooth and i mean ultra even on the most congested box, Fifa 09 on PS3 is slighly like playing a game on a PC, you feel that while its quite smooth the FPS are jumping about all over the shop- Something technically that should not happen considering some effects have been added to the graphics because they dont have that sharp look about them.

Many people complain about the crabwalking on the PS3. Is that what you mean with "sidestepping"? I played it on my friends PS3 and it wasnt too apparent to me. Then again I only played a couple games. I play on my 360.

Fifa vs Pes...... My opinion is that each game has its own good features so its a quite balanced battle but leaning towards fifa. Fifa has definitely much more potential as a game but the developers must take advantage over that situation and not get complacent like Seabass did @ Konami.
That is my opinion.

I rented fifa and thought it was ok but I still prefer PES. As others have said both games have pluses and minuses and it is really down to the person and their prefrences.

I haven't tried PES2009 yet, but I did switch to the PES series after getting sick of the cookie cutter releases of FIFA up until about 03.

PES was amazing and now that I have finally stepped up to the NG console and got FIFA I'm willing to give it a chance.

Hardcore followers of either game have always chosen to back the one that they've been playing. However, I must admit that after reading MANY a review before making my footy purchase this year, I was extremely suprised to see so many PES'rs making the conversion to FIFA for this edition. Because in all honesty, I'd say that the PES hardcore were much more of the 'i'm not having it, absolutely no chance of a switch' type of crowd.

One thing that I have noticed though, is the easiness of FIFA to just pick up and play, which has always been a firm opinion from my point of view. Maybe it's begginers luck, but I just started playing 09 for 360 today, and i'm scoring goals without to much of a problem on the World Class level.
That! I know for sure is something that could not be done on PES. It's near impossible to score for newcomers which does produce more longevity before boredem in the game. Hence why I still play winning eleven 8 & 9 for the XBOX. lol

Fifa seems more of a fun type of game where PES is more serious and tactical. The reason why FIFA have somewhat surpassed PES this year, is because Konami have been coach potatoes, sat on their backsides for seasons because of the lead they had on EA.

Ppl voiced their opinions and up until now, EA were mainly catering to the universal sports gamer rather than a football minded gamer. EA have worked hard to touch things up and now they've finally got their foot out. so to speak.

Can't see Konami backing down though, especially with the licensing slowly becoming more extensive throughout each release.

I personally feel that the real battle will begin when Konami get full licensing. Cause lets face it, there are many ppl who don't really follow footy who are more inclined to play a game with the proper teams and kits. I'll admit myself, it was hard to look beyond that when first playing PES after FIFA for so many seasons.

Anyhow, enough babbel, and hello to anyone who remembers me from years back. It's been AAAAAAaaaaaaaaages. since 05/06 i think.

It's funny you say that, because I find a lot of the moves on FIFA to be very knee-jerk. The moves seem to just burst out of no where. But that could just be in experience with the controls.

Crazy that Konami were doing worse to PRO EVO since PRO EVO 6, In the their 2009 game, they took the advantage rule away.

But EA have finally showed their class of football games from FIFA 08 (PS3/Xbox 360).

I dont think its a simple as what game is best, I still think while Fifa is the better experience i think there are still major areas where they could learn from Konami.

The Pitch Size - Ea still not perfected.

Players Faces - apart from the big players, still nopt up to par

Tele Cam Lacks detail and sharpness compared to Pro Evos Wide and still EA have responsness and Smoothness issues.

AI- The opponent AI in PES09 is more varied and smarter, also the team vision does work this time, i still feel Fifa is heavily scripted and after repeated plays while better than past versions there still is the issue of wondering why the ball ilalalalaing the bar, why itlalalalaing the post and while the Oppo AI has suddenly got the ball off you from a bad position.

Overall Fifa 09 is a great acheivement and represents football great but its a bit unfinished IMHO

I went to play PES2009 in a departmental store on a PS3.

The graphics and gameplay are horrible. If it is good, I'd have bought PES2009 to try it on my PS3 too.

The bottomline is Fifa09 is still the best soccer game this year.

I have been getting fed up of fifa 09 lately online the way matches seem to be scripted and everyone picking man utd, so i thought i would give pes2009 a try, i am one of those that converted from a pes fan last year with the release of fifa 08,
although i loved pes it really had lost its way anf fifa became the better footy game, with fifa 09 i have been dissapointed with many things,
Like the ranking system, everyone picking man utd, the terrible biast Als,
quitters, and many more things.
so i gave pes2009 a real good go and have to say you can get in to it,
but online forget it, it is an absolute shambles, and is really unplayable,
if you just wanna play offline it can be ok.
but i dont think i will be moaning about fifa 09 quite so much now i have tried the alternative,
A couple of things really stand out with pes2009 for me though.
the new camera angle in pes2009 is best i have ever used, its a bit like the pro camera in fifa but for the hole team and raised up a bit, you really do see everything, and second is the legend mode online which for some reason doesnt seem to suffer with lag like the other online modes, i no its only 4 player unlike fifa but you really get a sense of achievement for playing as a team. you get points for passing build up play team play etc.
which
makes players stay more in position, and makes them pass instead of just head down straight for goal.
overall fifa is faR SUPERIOR EVEN WITH ALL ITS NIGGLES.
but something does have to be done about man utd biast stats
one other thing pro evo has no quit button so unless you go back to dashboard you cant quit, which is a lot better it does prevent you from quitting believe me i wanted to quit every pes20099 game i played it was so poor but didnt cause didnt want to reboot the game after every game
