ok now today i tried to ping the EA servers just to see if it was around what it should be.

firstly i pinged www.google.com and got results at an average of 39 m/s.
then i tried www.safc.com and this time got an average of 34m/s.
i then pinged ea.com and recieved and average 114m/s !!!!!

is this the reason that im recieving horrendous sluggish and unresponsive play?

i tried the old fifa games online too to see if these were sluggish and sure enough they were jumping all over the place. fifa 07 and 08 were both sluggish and unplayable. i think that my connection to the ea servers are whats causing these problems and wonder if others are having the same issues. does anyone have any ideas why my connection to the ea servers are so bad cos i have no clue. is it a problem on my side or on EA's side. please help

Well, as the huge majority have this problem with games, you'd tend not to look too far from the direction of EA.

EA admitting it's their **** servers is another thing altogether.

its definately lag that causes the problem. last night i played 3 games two of which were laggy my players didnt repsond quick enough and i lost by 1 goal. then i played another game and were i had perfect responses and i nailed the guy 7-1 this morning i played with no lag and against a level 6 guy ( im only level 3 because my win/loss is bad as i played **** to start with) and i beat him 2-1 it was clearly more responsive. What i dont understand is why lag should matter with my players. that message should be sent locally to my ps3 and then propogated to his ps3 ( for syncing) i wonder if it differes if you are home/away ( one is your the host the other is their the host) would like ea to investigate this further and raise internally as a bug.

With all the lag between peer-to-peer connections (and possible exploits of) and all the knock-on side affects of it, I would like to see EA Sports hosting ranked and FIWC matches.

The problems I've began experiencing are DEFINITELY NOT down to lag. I know when I'm in a laggy match not only because the framerate dips, but when it also takes 2-3 seconds to make a pass, shot, etc.

The real problem is for example when I play against arsenal sometimes, the players seem to be insanely strong and fast. For example any one of there defenders could outpace Ronaldo. Also when I'd try and make a pass the ball would go straight to the opponents feet, I wouldn't win any headers etc. as if I was playing a 7 star team!
This definitely spoils a big aspect of the game because I enjoy playing as Celtic or Werder Bremen and can a lot of the time have a good match against a 5 star team (not man.utd or inter milan though). Then I occasionaly come up against a team that makes man.utd look like lalalalalalas! (70% of the time the opponent is Arsenal, which I dont understand because Man.U are almost 20 points clear of them and are in way better form).

I dont know whats causing this, but it seems as though certain people have found awway to exploit the game, maybe the custom tactics os somethin.

i dont think its this.

because most people who have responded to this are honest players and admit that it goes both ways.

i have been on the receiving end, getting battered by everton when i am arsenal, not being able to put 2 passes together, losing every 50 50 ball etc etc

and have had games where i have battered newcastle with shef utd, everything went my way, i was outpacing the defence, their passing was shoddy. it was a player who i have played a few times. is not a terrible player, but they felt handicapped. shef utd are the team i use for all my lower * games, and i never touch the tactics. i like them how they are by default. i dont think its anything users are doing

^ agreed. I've seen my opponent suffer a number of times too and I wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary either.

it is lag. Its not that there players are any better ( unless they have ALS turned on and you dont) but that the players dont respond as quickly This is a more subtle lag and doesnt have to effect the framerate.

ALS should not factor into online matches since not everyone has it.

I really think it's a combo of tactics and lag. Can anyone explain how in a game against Barcelona (we had Lyon in Team Play) EVERYTIME we passed the ball forward to anyone on our squad, it was as if their players were able to get to our player before the ball and everytime our guy would get leveled and there would never be a foul. With this particular team, I noticed at the end of the game that they used a custom formation where basically everyone was packed into the center and the second they stole the ball they'd have Messi (CAM), Eto'o, and Henry just taking off. They also played their CBs ALL THEY WAY back.

The formation didn't **** me off very much but the agression and pressure (which I guess they'd have to put up to 100%) seemed to make my players less responsive (i mentioned this earlier when I said that EA stated that in close quarters the responsiveness and first touch take a dip) and i still couldn't explain what it was that allowed all of their player to ALWAYS catch ours and completely destroy our guys and take the ball up the field.

I would call these dude the epitome of cheesers/exploiters and they wanted to play again. This time we chose France and they had Spain, but then they switched to Brest. France v Brest. They're pretty slow right? We should be able to pass around them pretty easily right?

Not so much. It was almost exactly the same as the game before. If I played as Brest against France, I'm playing a defensive game because I know it's going to take quite a lot to stop the other squad and if i do happen to get the ball long ball or slow build up to try and get past their quick defenders. Well, their Brest players were just as fast and strong as our team and were somehow doing the exact same slamming players off the ball that Barca was doing earlier. In fact, their strikers were outrunning our defenders. I really just wanna know what this tactic is that people have found that allows people to do this.

When I play against my buddy one on one, we could have Inter v United and if he makes a mistake and, for example, misses a tackle on Ronaldo, 9/10 he's gonna have to scramble to try and make a stop. And sometimes, most of the time, I at least get a shot on goal. Against these dudes, it didn't matter it Henry or Benzema got behind, their defense, once completely beaten (and remember this is Brest), run em down and shove em off the ball.

Maybe they should turn up fatigue. Or maybe they should make it a little more difficult to pick a player, and then hold the A and/or B button and just home in on the guy.

it seems like it did change, but after playing 10 games its back to normal.
the game online has changed for the better it was horrible before.

The game online was okay before, you could actually get by using lower teams, now with everyone has top aggression and 9 defenders it seems

guys it is absolutely CLEAR that this is SCRIPTED and not LAG!

my strikers refuse to shoot all the time, also, i tried for once MANU, was 3 times 1on1 against the keeper with C. Ronaldo and he missed all 3 times the goal, like he was a 55 rated *******.
also, corners, my players refused to header but instead stopped the ball with their chest. THE WHOLE TIME!!

defense: corner, my defender wont header again, stop the ball with his chest, watching the ball fall IN SLOW MOTION on the ground, still not moving (I was button-mashing like CRACY!!!!!!!!!!!) and then, from nowhere, DROGBA jups in and slides and shots a goal from my behind o_O. THROUGH MY DEFENDER!!! !!!! !!!!

passes: wont go where you aim them, they will go with a 100% accuracy to your opponent.

Actually, for me, this started SINCE i bought all ALS leages... but maybe this is a coincidence.

Anyway basically the last few games I hav experimented with the custom tactics, these did help my case and against ranked and unranked players, sum round the 1000s, I managed to get a 11 winning streak.

Then i played this 1 person he wasnt ranked and ok the game did lag but the game was terrible on my behalf. Couldnt manage to get passes together and he went 1-0 up. I went offensive and came close to score with torres. I tunred the defender about 8 yards out tapped shoot and it hit the bar. also the players first touch were terrible (r2 not held and right stick not touched).shortly after he scored another and my passes were travelling str8 past my players to the opposition. Then he scored with huntellar from miles out which any keeper could catch at least save but no, it sales past him.

Ok scripted passing makes the game a challenge but when ridiculas shots go past the keeper its impossible.

Good tip to see if you are in a game with laggy controls: hit LB (360) or L1 (PS3) to instigate a forward run, then after releasing LB/L1, wait half a second or so and hit Y/triangle for a through ball. If the through ball doesn't go along the ground but sails through the air instead then the game thinks you are still holding LB/L1 even though you have clearly released it.

Congratulations: you are now in a game with sluggish, laggy controls. Bail out at the first opportunity or just grit your teeth and suffer embarrassment, anger, frustration and humiliation for the rest of the match.

This game has been server rigged, button lag is cracking me up...I beat players much better than me, and lose to 10 year old kids playing their first game.

I..almost...feel like going back to nokami's pes 2009.

No specific tips, just taking every second of the match seriously and fully concentraing on the game, mainly defensively, oh and not taking risks at the back. Plus I made two of my own formations which suit me down to the ground. There's something else, but I aint sharing

My connection has been awesome the past week though (bar 1 match) , so maybe it's just that

Ive got the level 20 now after a 14 game streak.

No secrets or tips but just started to play the game how it wants you too and not fighting it like I used to.

Now when it passes to the wrong person I change my tact and try and make the best from that player.

Still get the lag/delay weird passing and shooting thing but I have learned to play round it.

My main problem now is playing people of similar rank (<4000) and they ALL seem to play 532 or custom 631. And as I only use default formations and a teams default tactics the games can be quite dull or hit and miss.

My lag has improved which is great, not fully gone but better and now when my players seem to be sluggish I play a much more precise play and very stand offish.
