you'll be interested in my story then. i was really coming into my own on FIWlalalalail Saturday, I was ranked top 4120 on just over 1050 skill points. more wins than losses - until i hit level 10 through normal ranked games.

now i'm out of the FIWC leaderboards, dropped 500 fiwc points easy within 3 days and I know I have a massive task ahead to be back to where I was.

Conspiracy/handicap going on? you bet - i reckon i've been penalised for already showing i'm better in this game than I was in FIFA 08.

I find I have to be in the right frame of mind to get a really good winning streak going.

If I'm relaxed and concentrated I can put a 30 game win streak together easily, like last weekend I went undefeated.

If I let myself get ****ed off easily, it just spirals downhill from there. Every 50-50 ball that does'nt go my way, every misplaced pass I get more ****ed off, lose my concentration and lose a bunch in a row.

Thats when I know its time to put the controller down, take a break, and come back another day.

im so glad i found this thread guys. now im not blowing my own trumpet here but only letting you guys know that im a good and experienced fifa player, so please dont get on at me for it. im a skill level 21 and im my first 300 online ranked games i won 268 and losing only 32. in my last 25 matches i have won only 3 and lost 22. now please dont tell me that im suddenly a bad player or i need a break from the game or that other people have found any super tactics. there is definately a problem with the online 1v1. what i have noticed so far is that:

1. my players have all lost there pace whilst the opponent hasnt.
2. my players are unresponsive and take ages to make a move towards the ball.
3. my strikers are weak. they will not challenge for the ball
4. my passes are going straight to the opposition players 9 times out of 10.
5. my defenders are always out of position and wont takle a player running through my defence with the ball.
6. the opposition keeper makes unbelievable saves when i have an easy chance.
7. my players wont make forward runs when they have been told to do so in my custom tactics.
8. i cannot win a 50/50 challenge.
9. anytime i win the ball in a tackle it just rebounds staright to the opposition.

now they are just some of the things that are now happening in my games. there is most certainly a problem for some of us with this game because it was not like this before. i know when its changed and it certainly has. it just seems now that my team suffers from very slow unresponsive online play whilst the opposition enjoy nearly total dominance over me. my brother bought this game 2 weeks ago and he beat me 3-1 after only having it for 2 days. he said on his side the play was fine but it most certainly was not on mine. i think this game is being scripted or handicapped for the better players because i know when things have been changed. like i say im not blowing my own trumpet but this game is now all about being a level 1 because if you show signs of being a good player then you will be handicapped. just out of interest the other guys who are having the same problems as me.... what isp are you guys using.

Why can't EA Sports address this inconsistency? I was on a recent good run and now I can't seem to scrape a win because of the same reasons outlined in this thread...

Just played another 4 games today online, one of them against a player 16 levels below me. I lost them all because of poor / slow responsiveness. It certainly wasn't lag because I've played other titles and everything was perfect.

There MUST be something server side influencing matches and certain players. As I said beforehand, as soon as I reached level 20 in FIFA 08, I didn't win a single game afterwards, lost about 1400 skill pts. The game was traded in about 3 months prior to release date of FIFA 09. And FIFA 09 will go sooner if EA Sports can't explain what this is or why its happening!!

Just got beaten 1-0 by a Level 1 with a 1-21 record, 1 shot in favor and 17 shots against.

This handicap when playing against lowered-ranked players has taken the fun out of this game for me. I want to be beaten by someone that is better than me (which I am sure there are plenty of those out there), not by someone that is worse but that is being aided by this new lalalala system. Games are supposed to reward skills and learning, but this new handicap thing in FIFA just does the opposite.

I am seriously thinking about selling my game and trying PES for the first time in my PS3.

I've no problem being beaten by an evidently better player (regardless of their level as level 1's can be new accounts from level 20 previously), but when there's a handicap hindering and humiliating your performance against another (again regardless of their level), its simply not on, and there's something that EA Sports are hiding from us...

What's up with this handicap. I'm getting killed and its not even like i can put up a fight. Half the time i get scored on because im trying to keep possesion in my defence. Is the updated version of this game, meant to be ping-pong instead of football. Playing the game on assited is bad enough. Every pass, shot, cross and tackle; feels fake and effortless thanks to the increased A.I. involment in the game. Come on somebody please throw me a bone.

I don't mind losing as long as I play a good game. A 5-0 lose is fine, as long as I'm playing good passes and creating chances.

Help anyone?

I think we're all at a loss to explain whats going on. Surely EA Sports could come out of hiding and give us their explanation because its been going on now for far too line, back as far as FIFA 08...

agreed, most annoying thing is the complete utter silence from EA Sports. It's getting louder by the day!

Post our objective views and then report our own posts to EA Sports so that they get spammed with reports from the same thread.

When things aren't going your way, then you need to take a break, I think your mind is tired which is making you react slower to situations. Have a break for a week and then comeback or play club games or something.

I don't understand what changes you are talking about...Nothing changed for me, I still destroy weaker players, there is no way there is an handicap or this kind of thing. Seriously, the game didn't change at all, like the guy above said, you need to take a break.

I definately see the change and I notice it from the kick off for example.

Play the first half fine go 2 goals up, next time I kick off I want to pass back yet the guy on the edge of the centre circle gets in the way (my player), in defence I try a pass out and either one of my players will get in the way or no matter how hard I pass it will only make it 50% of the way to the intended recipient.

There are other subtle changes that happen in the game from dodgy ball control, hesitating to clear the ball or to shoot. You can actually see the AI proactively coming to tackle you to help the other team out.
Holding possession to move the play slowly up the field is a no no.

You can also notice how the shooting sensitivity changes, I have seen a player better than me miss several open goals from the 6yrd box in one game all blazed over the bar yet they will score them normally.

I have come to terms with the changes and aim for no more than a 4/5 game streak now and I also understand what EA have tried to do with this (being the top selling title for xmas and a lot of new players starting to play the game now they are trying to make it more fun) but I wish they would at least just tell us what its doing so we can actually adapt.

If it was something like this "right guys there is now a new AI algorithm, that favors players with lower skill, its not impossible to win but the AI will be tougher and you wont score a hatfull..."

played 4 games today on sister's ps3, got beaten in every one because of dodgy AI, poor response from players and awful goalkeepers refusing to move their butts.

it's so annoying because we acknowledge these changes but when will EA Sports admit AI gets dumbed down?

I know exactly what you mean but with me it happens just a few weeks ago, I was in the top hundred and had a winstpercentage of 75 and I could get a row of 8 wins with ease, now I can't even get a row of 3 wins? dunno whats wrong now it seems like everywere I look I see somebody from the other team and when I have the ball I can't go no where it's driving me nuts, I also thought that they just put pression really high but if you do that you would be able to counter really hard and their defense would be really high and this isn't the case! pffff, it isn't even fun anymore to play fifa..

Hey im having the same problem man !!! I was ranked 900 a week back and then i started playing and i just cant seem to win. I think i have played around 50 games in the last week and lost 40 of them !!! I have lost around 600-800 rank points and i am currently ranked 4600 !! From 900 to 4600 !! Talk about a drop ! Im level 20 and im also good at the game but i dont know what has happened or changed i just cant seem to win

there's definitely something up then with a good few of us now saying we're struggling.

i can understand new folk are coming into the game but they have to learn how to adapt quickly just as we did. don't penalise us EA!

i've already proved i'm better at fifa 09 than 08 but i feel that hard work of getting myself to this point is going to waste so quickly and has nothing to do with needing a break from fifa.
