I was playing someone as england this morning trying to run my defenders back and for the life of me i couldnt get rio to run back or even take control of him. when i finally did i jockeyed him back and finally my players started to run back.

Basically you need to take control of your CB's to get your team moving backwards but its nigh on impossible to do this ( i had to change player about 5 times before i finally got rio).

i must say i have found it harder to switch to the centre backs recently, even if they are in good positions.

Player switching in general is screwed IMO

Players have always rushed out on Fifa, whether thats before the updates or after.

But i agree as soon as you select a player he will immediatly jump out of position.

i used to find that if i had one of my defenders running back and jockeying all my defenders went back ( unless i was calling my second defender to close down a winging run). I used to be able to run back the cb and call second defender on my rb/lb and thus close down winging runs. now my defense are just all over the bloody face and i cant employ that tactic. that tactic isnt foolproof and if pass across the edge of my box i can result in rb/lb being in a horrible situation but it certainly helps.

oh and this only seems to be an issue online. offline against the cpu my defense dont act like spacs.

I actually agree, I think the game is seriously sripted.

If I am losing and stick everything on high pressire on last corner kick and keeper comes up and everything, I usually score. why? It's no different, I MYSELF HAVEN'T GOT BETTER AT TAKING CORNERS!!

Im getting increasingly annoyed at the delay, its ruined the game im playing now and ruined the other few ive played today. TBH, seen as this has come about since EA have done the UT patch, something i shouldnt have to download seen as its a game add on i dont want.

its like id downloaded an expansion i didnt want but has ruined the normal game. im all for you money making and bringing out new modes but i dont see why you have to ruin the original game online. fifa09 online now is as big a disaster as pes08 was and pes09 is. it is actually that bad.

i didnt expect id spend my 1000th post saying this, but well done, you've seriously cocked up the online, thanks a bunch...

I downloaded this (UT) and havent even played the 5 free games or whatever. I so regret it

not that it would helped much if I did the problems were there long before UT, just 10xs worse now.

I only D/L the update, have installed UT as a package, not played the free games.

maybe they were, but they were far less prominent and far less noticeable.

i have been trying a few things last 2 days and 1 thing which is most apparent is that these changes affect you less when you play with a 5 star team. i always used sunderland and 99% of the time im up against 5 star abusers. the usual manu, chelsea, barcelona.....you get the picture. this is when it is at its worst. now all today i tried being man united and i been on a 13 game winning streak losing just 1 game all day from 17 games. the problems were still there but not as noticeable.

maybe the reason that others are not feeling this as bad as we are is because they are using 5 star teams so dont feel the full nature of the beast. for me today it was definately still noticeable but i know what im looking for, yet someone who doesnt know this problem wouldnt see this as its being masked by the 5 star teams ability.

mr rutter can we arrange a game with one of your testers and i will be manu and him say a 3 star team. lets see if we can replicate this for you to see. im on tonight around 9-10 ish then for a few hours.

The only game I have played online which I can say I though was scripted was a game against one of my school friends. He was Liverpool, I was Arsenal. He went 1-0 up with a Gerrard free-kick then 2-0 up with a Babel one-on-one. He was dominating the game so I took my foot off the pedal a bit but I got lucky on the stroke of half-time when he gave away a penalty (which was a standing tackle and looked innocuous). I scored the penalty, but strangely, I aimed the way his goalkeeper dived but the ball went straight down the middle for 2-1. From then on, his defenders seemed very tired and very poor. He seemed to lose every 50/50 (and I didn't change my aggression or pressure, I just changed to counter-attack. He gave away a free-kick for a 50/50 challenge and I scored the rebound after it hit the bar (again, his defence reacted slowly. The last goal I scored was with Adebayor, I played a through ball and his defence appeared to stop and stare, then finally chased Adebayor but by that time, he was 5 yards ahead and I slotted it in. It seems strange that some people's defenders go crazy at times and some games seem a bit scripted with the sheer luck of the goals scored. If I could show you, you would know.

good post and exactly why there's no point in learning how to play!!

If the game changes momentum, so be it. EA claim its not in there, but thats only cause of all the complaints. If they said it was in there after this huge thread, FIFA online...would die. Cause no one would want to play a game they have no control over.

the delay today has been truly horrific, i said it in another thread aswell but this has been as bad as pes08 and 09 today. i usually just threat that im going to get rid of fifa but the reason i have it over pes is its online, which in the beginning didnt lag.

now it lags just as bad, i think it maybe time to finish Tomb Raider Underworld and trade both in for pes, id rather try something abit different than something that has been tinkered with so much that its been ruined.
