Must be honest I don't think this is the games fault but mine, I am after some advice really.

I'm getting bored a little how I score goals really, sounds a bit odd I know. But they all seem to be the same, a through ball mainly followed by the odd header and an occasion through ball from a goal kick. In Fifa 08 I could score from far out, mainly using the double tap on the circle button (ps3).

It seems now I get my striker to latch onto a through ball then run like crazy towards the goal, release the sprint button and tap the shoot button.

I know I'm not the most skilled person in the world but it would be nice to get one from outside the penalty box. Everytime I try it is either in row z or it is saved. I have tried the finesse button but don't seem to help. Can anyone help? And free kicks, I used to score regulary in 08 but no more, what has changed?

Make sure the keeper is slightly out of position and do a finesse shot holding the left trigger (l2 on ps3 i assume) and make sure not to hold the left stick all the way to one side, but just slightly in the direction you want to score.

play on legendary and not pro.

Thanks for the tips. Wouldn't playing on legendary make it even harder to score?

If you're scoring way too much on through balls, like mentioned, I would bump up the difficulty. To score from >= 18 yrds. I find it fairly easy to score by coming over the top (just enough to get your momentum going towards the opposite post) and finesse shooting it to the far post, once you get the hang of it you can rip shots that hook into the upper back 90 with ease if given enough space.

Some examples:

i just want to score some bicyle kicks they always try to head the ball drives me up the wall!

Cross the ball at head-height behind the receiver for a bicicleta.

By the way, the days of regular spectacular goals are gone. And thanks for that!

I crossed to the back post and Sammy369n scored an amazing overhead kick from a tight angle in a club match a couple of nights ago I think hes on manual or semi shooting as well.

Yeah its a real lalalalalala for me as I only play online

it was bloody good though full cross from the corner flag to the far post/6yd box.
