Hi,
Since recently I am encountering some trouble in connecting to the EA Servers when I want to play FIFA 09 online. Of course this particulary happens when I make an appointment with fellow Clubmates as for example on this very moment. While they are playing, I am 'locked' inside FIFA 09 offline modes. My connection to the internet is fine, so I can even keep track of their score through XBOXlive menus. As if I really want to do that.. The only reason my XBOX is still on is to try and connect to the servers so I can join in and do what I was intending: Play some beautiful soccer! My question: Is there anything I can do except walking away from my XBOX in the hope it will be better half an hour later? The exact msg I get: You must be signed in to XBOX Live and the EA servers in order to access the online features of this title. I do not play any other games than FIFA 09 (I bought my XBOX for it) so I don't know whether this is a specific 09 problem, or EA. And actually I don't care as long I can find some way to bypass it.. Anyone??? Plz.. I need my fix. |

I too have been having this problem for the last two weeks, even though it worked fine since launch day.
Try deleting your online squad file and going to your memory section in the settings, select your hd drive and press y. Then hit x x lb rb x x to clear the cache. This worked once for me. Although at this minute I am in the same boat. Nothing will get it to work. It may be your ports on your router, i have tried connecting directly through my cable modem and it still wont work for me. Other people have got it to work by changing some settings on their router but it does not effect my ability to connect. I am getting very frustrated at this and if i cant get it resolved i am trading it in. Ea support offered lots of things to try but they made no difference. |

Thanks a lot for the reply.
Unfortunately it didn't work. Though maybe that's a good thing.. It would really start to get strange when a 'fix' doesn't work all of the time. Like you I am facing these issues the last two weeks, which might imply something, though I don't know what. The strange thing is that everything works perfectly some days, and the next you're off. Unlike you I am not in the position to trade this game in, cause I'm a heavy addict. Besides that my Clubmates need me, cause it seems they're losing a lot of games at this moment. Poor us! BTW The port thing I tried too, based on some other forums I looked through the other day. It never got me a direct result, and overall everything remained consistent: One day everything works perfectly, the next you're stuck to constantly turning on/off your console, starting up FIFA, and hopefully looking at the screen as if God him/herself could walk out any second. |

It is strange, mine seemed to start giving problems straight after the server was down for maintenance. I really dont want to get rid of this game as i think its awesome but it is getting so frustrating. There is only so many times you can fire it up looking forward to a few club games only to find you cant get into the ea servers. Poor effort.
I had a few games this morning and it worked fine, went out for a few hours and when i got back it is buggered again. Would not work last night at all but tuesday night was fine. Please someone tell us how to fix this? Oh and it has nothing to do with ports. |

I liked the Guide To Connect very much, because it kept me busy for half an hour. Unfortunately that was all I got out of it. Judging that thread it has done a lot of good, and I can not with 100% security say I exactly copied it.. But I added all the mentioned ports, connected it to the already fixed IP address of my XBOX, and still the misery continues.
Also I want to stress that Like McConnelJuk these problems for me only occured since recently. I already got my Peterson achievement (50hours online play), before I ever got this. Which firstly let me think that when the EA Servers are too busy I don't get on anymore since I already had my fair share of FIFA09 pleasure. Of course that is not a likely explanation. But also, the ports, to me, don't seem a very likely point of concern anymore either. I'll keep checking this thread for some kind of brilliant solution. But if it can't be found let this thread at least do some good as a reminder for the lucky bunch of you what richness hides in simply being connected when you start FIFA (also meaning that disconnection while you're losing is good for nothing, cause while you get overclassed you can always think: "ah well.. atleast I'll have another go at it next match"; ) Last edited by Tsjaron; 20-11-2008 at 04:42 PM.. |

Even if i connect straight to my cable router it still wont sign me in.
I too got my 50 hour achievement with all the same equipment before i started having problems which makes me think it is something on the ea side that is the problem. Now that i have found someone else who is having the exact same issue for a similar time just re-affirms this in my mind. Although in all honesty i cant see too much being done about it as it only seems to effect a minority. |

Since I posted this thread thursday afternoon I managed to log in only once; thursday night at 00.30.
All the other times I got the same error msg. Since it appears there is no solution, does anyone might have an idea about a place where I can file this 'error-msg'? It happens too frequently now to just sit and wait for it to work. |

I am still having all the same issues. Played a few games yesterday and been unable to connect ever since. This is getting beyond a joke.
If we were told what the problem was and when it will be fixed I would be content. Contemplating getting pro evo, although it is crap online I might actually get a game. |

Well I've had this issue for the past 3weeks myself.
Ive emailed EA, asking them kindly to fix my problem. And yesterday, 1week after my mail was sent. They replied asking: Are you still having problems? No solution, no whatsoever. Ive tested both fifa 08 and 09, none of them are working. If this continues, I will probably reclaim my money back. For both my xbox and my games. Ive paid to play these games, online. Man Im ****ed :/ Edit: Today I tested using my hd in a friends xbox, fifa09 worked fine. Last edited by spillejon; 14-12-2008 at 05:05 AM.. |

In case anybody else has this problem with Ultimate Team or anything else, I found a solution on another forum.
Had nothing to do with routers or port forwarding or anything like that. Looks like a setting some place gets corrupted and needs to be reset. To fix, exit the game, go to the dashboard, sign-off xbox live and go to your system settings. Change the date to 11/15/05. After that is saved, log into Xbox Live and start FIFA backup. You should be all set. And the date will automatically reupdate itself. |
