Wow, please don't take this by offence, but where do you find the time to write all of these threads? You seem to spend more time writing about FIFA than actually playing it?

So do I, but I've played 50 games online & maybe 5 people have done so as well, I was merely making a generalization, of course there are expections, I'm one of them and so are you, but the majority fall under my pervious point. I would love to start a list of online "football players" possesion players. I'll start gamer tag xbox360: tmr2121

Its ok playing possession football but it dosnt get you nowhere most of the time online im tired of playing Arsenal now because of the people who put walcott up front and hold down (Y) while i watch my defence stand still and walcott run through, most people i come up against just hold down the (Y) button and it splits my defence apart any tips to stop this or it this just a flaw in fifa 09?.

LOL! I don't mind. I'm a regular blogger for more than 2 years, so writing comes naturally to me. And I write this much every single day. I don't spend too much time to write these actually. This post took me 30 mins to 1 hour. I've been using this forum for so many months. Finally I thought of giving something back to the community :-)

I play a lot of possession football. In fact, I only really feel comfortable when I'm dominating possession. Good post though, will try out some of your custom tactics tips.

in my opinion every soccer noob should start practicing this style of play because ball control and correct smooth passing are the most important skills to be learned. then, once youre comfortable moving the ball around the field and master what you described as "vision", then i would suggest placing a higher emphasis on learning efficient defending and close ball control/1-on-1 dribbling. and only after all that, shooting/freekicks/corners.
Wise words man

Practice sprint and jockey defending, you know theyre gonna try to dart Walcott thru, so pick a defender and start running before he does and keep your front to him by holding down the jockey button while your sprinting, then when you feel youve got him cornered go for the tackle.

yesterday i was at a gaming event and cutting a story short my possession play didnt work at all, they had really strange formations bringing on 6 defenders and having 4 strikers i have trouble sometimes with players just using the pace LT on xbox and they just walk past my defence and then it breaks up for them to put a tiny through ball for an open on goal. all i want to know is using your tips should they in theory be able to stop this from happening?

Yes it should work. A bit of skillful longpassing will also help.

Did you try that out online? I'm sure lot of us love to play possession football but I want to know if it works well in online. I don't play online these days so one of you can help.

Thanks! That was all from personal experiences. Whether I win or not, I at least control the game well and create chances the way I like.

You can really play possession football online, because some online gamers actually use 5 or 6 defenders, and this allows you to play possession football,if you do.
