yea i know what ya saying....i guess its up to you which teams you put the various settings on.....although i would say attacking overall is pretty quick and if theres a hole to get a player or the ball thru it'll happen....
there are also teams in the game that are lower stat teams and have the same kinda setting as the big teams so i suppose allot must come down to the stats of the players on the team....like if they have players that are quick at passing and moving the teams play will go with them.... also with most fifa games the results and final league positions are random....so i cant see it having to big an effect... and your right about EA "not doin their job" its seems like manager mode has taken second place to the like of be-a-pro and online stuff.....where as there are players like me who would like manager mode to be the main focus of offline gameplay.... i suppose they cant make a game for realism fans and have it appeal to the masses as much....but at least we can tweak things like this to get the kinda of gameplay we want...

I tried less pressure more aggresiveness but this does not always work well against good players who do good timing for thru ball over your last defenders.
I found recently the key to defending really is your timing for playing jockey while running. As in the EA manual you can press L2 + R2 to jockey while running and press X and release L2 at the right time. This is a killer defending skill that now I have been winning my games without worrying too much about sliders! I advance my level by 3 in a day sweet

Ok. To answer my own question (on the previous page), after some initial reasearch (half a season in MM), I've come to the conclusion that yes, bluechamps tactics do make the game more realistic, both in terms of acutal gameplay and in terms of poisitions in the league. While I dont have the stats in front of me, playing as Reggina in Serie A, after about half a season, the league table looks like this:
1. Milan. 2. Roma 3. Juventus. 4. Inter. 5. Fiorentina... The other "euro aspirants" - Udinese, Napoli - are close behind the leaders. I meanwhile, am in 19th place, just in front of Siena, which is also quite realisitc. I've tied more than anything, and I got trashed by Juventus and Milan. So its settled then, for me anyway, the switch in tactics according to bluechamps settings for Serie A teams, does reflect more realisitc gameplay and a realistic league table. Case closed. Anyone else care to share their experiences using these settings over a season in MM? |

im only 8 games into my premier league season but its def felling good...
have also gone the manual player upgrade route...only adding the odd point onto the players that have worked hard and only adding to the odd skill and not right across the board.. im sure by now (with auto upgrade) at least one of my players would have gone up a point or two....which lets face it isnt the way football works....sure some players get allot better over a season but most players have a general playing level and will only improve on certain aspects of their game.. im also trying to keep my staff at a realistic level, right now im at middlesbrough and im happy with my staff on 3 with my stadium and fitness on 4...... having the fitness on 4 seems to be making me use more of my squad from game to game, giving the younger players more exp points over the season...and it also means that like in reality you cant always put your best 11 on the pitch. i suppose this also will keep the manager prestige growing at a slower rate...which im in favour of....since in past seasons i've gone up in level for winning nothing... not that it makes any dif this year since you can move to any team at the end of the season.....whatever happened to getting job offers from teams based on your prestige?

thanks for the great thread, im going to change the custom tactics asap!
was wondering if you keep the default tactics for man u, milan, barca, etc.. or do you change them also to euro-arpirant? and if you do keep the default tactics, can you give a list of the teams? i have a pretty good idea, but would like you're imput. i play on world class, i noticed you said you play on professional, do these tactics work the same on any difficulty? thanks for trying to make 09' a much better experience for all of us offline players, i'm really thankful for it. mm was getting very boring, i think im going to also turn off player growth, gaining 5 points in a year is ridiculous. |

What I have done with the champions league teams, I left them alone except for the defence sliders where I set the aggression slider to 75. Everything else left on deafualt.
The teams Chelsea, Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Barca, Sevilla, Atletico Madrid, Valencia, Villareal, Inter, Milan, Juventus, Roma, Bayern Munich, Lyon and Porto. In regard to Man City and Fiorentina I put them with the Euro Aspirants.

we could go mental with this thing if we had lots more tactic slots cos every team in the game needs the defence tweaking...and every league has dif playing styles that would need to be addressed.... the choice is yours what teams and what leagues ya want to edit..do whatever you think will enhance your enjoyment of the game....

the defence on the champions league teams gets tweaked to agro 75 pres 30 width 50 (if they play with wing back) 40 otherwise i've also gone and tweaked a couple of little things about the champions league teams i know but nothing major no one in this thread is saying that you have to do stick to these numbers...see how the game plays for you and make changes to taste

i've tried tweaking the tactics for the cpu this way, and i'm FINALLY enjoying the games against it! not more one on ones and easy through balls. i was beating the cpu by lots in professional, then in world class...but now even on professional is a bit of a challenge. most matches are close and you really have to work and take your chances.
thank you for posting these! |
