the only tactics i setup really is the passing section have it really low so when you have the ball you got more choices to pass,. instead of the slider being high up an you only have a choice to pass to a player who is miles away. have the crossing set to lots, and shooting, speed i just keep normal instead of having th strikers n midfield always running up so they can generally keep their positions, defence set on cover an deep then, mid game i have team-pressing on, an my custom tactic. works fine for me

hey paul027

we're talking about tweaking the custom tactics of the opponent (and not our own team) to prevent the route one (throughball to one-on-one) goals.

This is a fantastic thread and a lot of great work by bluchampblogger.

I did have two questions of you:

In your setting categories you have the Defence Aggression at 75. Given the relative ease that the refs in 09 give out yellow cards, won't this high aggression lead to too many cards for the CPU teams?

And secondly:

Have you applied these settings to the international teams as I often play as England in FIFA and with the international game being quite different to the club level how would you set up the teams?

I also had a request of lungfull. You have done a great job of dividing the leagues up into the categories. You said that you have done the same for the English Football League teams and was wondering if you could post them please as the longer MM goes on the more lower teams will be promoted into the Premiership and having the settings for all of the leagues would be great.

no problem....

to be honest i've not had much chance to play....usually have a good 12hrs session on the weekends so we'll see then i guess.....but from what the other guys say it seems to tighten things up at the back and gives teams more urgency when defending....which is good since keeping a clean sheet is always a teams priority..

and like i've said in one of my other posts i also find it plays more realistic if pass assist is on semi and all the rest are off.....

I agree with you. I play on Pro with all settings on Manual and it plays well. But I was having the easy throughball goals so I hope these settings help as it's always nice to have a greater challenge.

Cheers.

i started with everything on manual....but i found short passing a little frustrating....switching it to semi gave me better one touch passing and helped to be more creative in attack

I may give that a try as I have found that my short passing can be off sometimes.

Yes, it makes a big difference. AI players would defend like men. You won't get too many throughball opportunities and even if you get some, you'll have lots of challenge before you run through and slot it home.

Now the game is much more open and beautiful. I'm loving it!

That's great I can't wait to try it after work.

Well, yes. Aggression at 75 would result in some cards but it won't be a riot, believe me. In about 10 matches, AI has got about 6 yellow cards (incl a red for second yellow) which is reasonable in my books. Aggression refers to the tendency to tackle. That need not always mean a hard tackle.

Sorry man, I haven't done this for the international teams. Will try it out later.

And please, after you try this out, let us know how well it worked.

I'm also working on having different sets of custom tactics for relegation battlers, midtablers and euro-aspirants for each league separately. The reason is, there is a distinctive difference between the playing style in the premier league, la liga and the serie a.

BLUCHAMPBLOGGER, i got one question for you:

Can you explain HOW DO YOU IMPLEMENT the tactics you suggested on MANAGER MODE?

Do you go to team management in the first menu and save the tactics to each club separately as "their standard setting" or what do you do.

How can you fix it "ONCE" and then leave it like it is, so you dont have to change it before each match?

If you have started your MM already, I guess you can't do anything. What you need to do is to change the custom tactics of these teams in 'MANAGE TEAMS' and save the squads and then start the MM.

Will the tactics be resetted if you download any squad updates in the future?

i think online squads are always saved as squads1. so save your edited squad, custom tactics etc in a different name such as edited squads or something.
