I haven't gone through editing all those teams, but some of your articles have had their use in tweaking the custom tactics of the team I use in MM Blue!

Still tweaking though, in way it's kind of a shame you have to do so much of this. In PES I like to tweak around with formations and settings, but the outcome seems to make more sense to me. In FIFA I do feel more 'lost'. Yesterday I changed some custom tactics after a few 'stiff' games (perhaps they had to do with giving some young talent with 60's stats play time too ).

For example in the attack I went from freeform to organised and from 'high' normal passing to safe and had a much easier next game. Not to say easier is necessarily better, I'm also looking for a challenging good game with varied goals , but it gave the impression that these settings suit the team better. What I find kind of frustrating is that there seems so much more to explore between let's say safe 33 and normal 66 (if i remember these numbers correctly). I guess I'd kinda want to find some definite settings at some point to see if I could stand up against 'abusers' online while trying to play actual football lol Probably couldn't stand all the quitting and unsportmanship behaviour though that I see mentioned in all the threads.

As in this thread things seem to get discussed seriously, I hope you don't mind me dropping this in here.

I have shooting on semi. For shooting from distance does it just work in a really sensitive way? I was fiddling around with it in the arena yesterday and I hadn't really been that succesful with it yet, but suddenly I was getting much more interesting results and I mean when you are dribbling not when the ball is coming your way already so you can run into it and scorch it from there.

I worked in a couple of finesse shots, proper long range well outside of the box. They would dip high into the corners by adding just a slight bit of touch, top left or top right.

Same for normal shots, except adding some touch down left or right which in combination with the right power seemed to make the shots travel up and give them enough punch to beat the keeper.

Am I on to the right feeling now? I really got a few brilliant shots in and hadn't managed them like that from such distances before.

Ah really? No man I had no idea. I figured your settings would apply to the whole game. I mean it would make sense to think that wouldn't it? Now there's even less use for that arena if that's the case

Hmm well assisted shooting is not an option for me, certainly offline it's not. Back to 'training' long shots in game then grrrr.

yea im sure it is dude...
i use manual shooting myself....been trying to really think about what im doin when shooting during games...trying to use low power to get shots on target...

i have the power bar above the players head and dont really look at it during normal play...so just doin it by feel...

recently put my difficulty up to world class and changed the camera to broadcast....its almost like learning the game again since you have to think about defending allot more...
cant bring another player over to help tackle cos you end up leaving a gap at the back and the cpu lets you have it with a mean through ball..lol

ok respect! i found that manual shooting well tricky but it has been a while ago since i tried that. can't say i disliked the goals i scored for getting that manual labour achievement though might as well have a go at it again soon. and yes after these results in the arena i was planning on being more on what i'm exactly doing when shooting anyway

feel should do, i was overpowering free kicks at first too. now got the feeling going much better as they don't really need that much when not too far outside of the box.

i think i'll stick to wide im at world class too, bit more assisted than you though, but the more i master things the more i will give up on that too. i'll have a go at the shooting soon and then the crosses.

Tried the arena for a bit with manual shooting on and I have to agree that arena is all assisted.

On a positive note I did realize during that try out how relatively easy it actually is to round the keeper

With these custom tactics, I was wondering if say you were beating a team, and they decide to change tactics and go more aggressive, does the AI change to an unsuitable tactic (ie. low aggression, high pressure)? Or does the change in tactics simply mean they shoot more, lump the ball upfield more etc.?

I guess these tactics remain throughout the match for the AI opponent and what they change is only the attack-mindedness and defence-mindedness. I think I'm right (based on the matches I have played so far io these settings).

yea apart from when the cpu has a player sent off....then the formation changes..
as you say tho blu the cpu will so the same thing we can do with the D-pad...go on the attack or defence.

Messed around with these tactics for a bit, created a few different variations and what not, and then I edited every single league in the game (took a few hours) based off real standings. Started a manager mode recently and the results have been VERY interesting.

I started with Ligue 2 side Dijon FCO. So far there are 3 league games left in the season and the table is extremely tight. Right now I'm tied with RC Strasbourg for 3rd place (which means promotion to Ligue 1), but leading on away goals (we have EXACTLY the same goal differnece). My record is 15-16-4, and I can say that the football is definately more realistic. My games finish a lot tighter than before, often resulting in ties, and my strikers are no longer scoring 35+ goals a season.

Right now my lead striker has 18 goals in 31 games (almost all of them are headers), and my keeper has 15 clean sheets. Almost every game I play is won in the midfield, and splitting defenders with these tactics are tough.

If you like manager mode, and you're finding the game far too easy, I highly recommend saving these tactics and editing all the leagues you want to play in.

Great job to BluChampBlogger for sharing this with us.

That is in-correct my friend. If you change from assisted to manual and go straight back in the arena, it stays the same.

However when you turn your xbox back on the next time you play fifa the Controls will have changed to Manual.

Try it if you don't believe me.
