Default EA - Please allow us play the game as we love!

Hello friends.
We are a group of 4 fifa players, that play the game since fifa 2006 and stayed loyal all the way. we just bought the new fifa 09 for the PS3 and got ready to start a tournament like we have done in fifa 06, 07 and 08.
in our tournaments - we create a new tournament (group and knock-out), each one picks a team and then each game of the user team, the other three playes against him.
i am shocked and amazed to see that this option is not available anymore. when we wanted to start a game (3 against 1), we could only be on the same side and not play 3 on 1 as we were used and loved to do.

is there any way to change this horrible thing? am i missing something? please help us, WE DONT WANT TO MOVE TO PES! WE WANT TO STAY LOYAL TO THE GAME WE LOVE SO MUCH!

please help us with this issue.

thank you in advance.

Not sure if this would work but you could make all the teas as playable, and then sim the ones you don't want to play?

Can't you change this during the match? Pick sides or something?

you can only pick up to 4 teams as user teams in tournament mode. i dont think this is possible and would fix our big problem.

about changing it inside the game - we tried and still it is no possible. so frustrating! such a disapointment.

i am amazed by ea sports doing such a thing. it is like they took away from us the thing we loved most. i dont get it. why do such a thing? we isnt it possible to play 3 against 1 anymore? what is the idea behind this?

you dont have to make fun of me at this time, it is not funny. ea just took away from us the best game ever. is this fifa 09 all about online playing only? i really dont get it. why would they cripple the game like this? for what?

do you think ea did this on purpose? is there a reason why they dont want people to play together like this?

Maybe you might have to change the way you play instead?

there is not an option you missed.

Enjoy playing the worst version of PES ever. I used to be a PES fanboy, no more.

Quite a few people have been complaining about this, me included. I, like you can't understand why this feature was so severely limited (4 human players). For me (and you and others too) it is a major part of the game being able to play against people in the same room as you.
I'm not 100% sure that Pro Ev offers this feature, I've never really liked the Pro Ev games, so I haven't played it since 4.
Perhaps someone who plays both Pro Ev and Fifa could tell me if you can have more than 4 human players in created competitions?
And yes, I think this is an absolute shame that the feature was taken away, it ruins what is, in my opinion a really good game. You can't move the controller to the computer controlled side at any time. You can play all on the same team against the computer, which isn't what I want anyway.

BrasedOff - exactly. this is what we feel. it is SUCH a shame. we hate PES and we never even looked at it, and now, if they have this option, we will have to return our copy of fifa 09 and take PES instead.
so, there is no option to make our tournaments anymore. i want someone from ea to answer this, i think we, as loyal costumers deserve an explain why they took our beloved game away from us.

UnlikelyStory - how can the four of us play a tournament like this? i would love good ideas. we dont want to play PES, it is like a nightmake come true.

maybe create a tourny, then look at the fixtures and play them on exhibition.

could be an option...then we will have to hand write all the scores and fixtures. it is like going back to commodore 64 days. i cant believe this happened to us. frustrating.
i would appreciate an official ea comment on this please.

You've got more chance of the Pope popping in for a shot of JD than you do of getting an official comment.

Are you being serious? I could just have a game of subuetto football and do that.
To have a next gen game and have to start writing scores down on a piece of paper is a bit laughable to be honest!!
Or maybe I could turn on my laptop, create a league table in Excel and keep a record that way!!!

it's not just fifa asisonidis. Conami did the same thing with the next generation version of pes 2008 but on the ps2 version, it allowed us to play against each others team in the tournaments apart from master league.

this is so stupid. i am speechless. fifa 09 is worthless like this. there is no point in playing this game alone on the net.
we used to play 32 team world cup's with group stage and knock out, we used to make champion leagues, they were 7 or 8 hours tournaments full of crazy games and great atmosphire playing 3 against 1. now it is all over. it is done.
shame on ea. they took fifa away from us.

Hi !

Same thing here... I buy Fifa 09 first to play offline with friends (as for Fifa 08, and PES 05 and 06 before). We have a couple of tournament's every month and we are at least 5 or 6 for each one...

Quite strange to make this option out anyway... It's just a question of scripting...

So if EA plan a patch soon, it would be a rich idea to correct this strange limitation if they don't want to lose some customers for such a 'little and strange limitation'...

Unlikely, i won't be surprised if pes 2009 on ps3 doesn't have this either as pes 2008 didn't. Best to play the ps2 version or the older games. Not enough demand for this for osme reason.
