First off, the title suggests it IS the solution, it mught not be but it gets people reading and it genuinly help people
Ok, i know there are many many people suffering with this and the dreaded THIS SESSION IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE alert. And since i bought the game i have been too (until yesterday morning that is) I'm not saying this IS the answer, but it somehow worked for me. I am not familiar with the jargon (ie port forwarding, DMZ, NAT, ip address etc) BUT, after 3 hours on the phone to BT, 1 hour to EA and 30 mins to PLAYSTATION, im a bit more in the know. And instead of writing on various threads, because there are so many on this topic and rightly so, i thought id make one, with a possible solution. Bare in mind, i have a BT home hub, and a ps3... First off. i rang BT and we tried opening the ports through the BT homehub admin page. didnt work. so we tried DMZ (opens ALL ports in and out bound. didnt work (infact stopped my ps3 even connecting to the internet for some reason for 5 mins) Rang EA - they said the same, and if all else fails erase all data... Now a million people on this forum have told me to do a million different things in a range of different ways, but one guy J_Wheazy, solved it totally for me... This is how i have fixed it... First off, delete ALL game data from 08 and 09 that is saved ANYWHERE on the ps3. Then create a new user. (i set up a new WIRED connection to the ps3 though not sure thats needed) yes i forwarded the ports on the BT home hub admin page with the help of BT cust service. THEN, set up a static i.p address for the ps3. this is because, apparantly everytime your ps3 boots ip, it finds a new ip address. so if your ports are forwarded (like in the manual) they wont always be linked to the same ip address (ps3) in your house to set that up, you need to... go to Settings scroll down to the very bottom and enter Network Settings now enter Internet Connection go to Custom choose wired or wireless depending on what you have now Auto Detect, then Manual IP: - you use the same number as your default router, but change the last 3 (seek help on what to change them to. like i said, i dont know how it works, i just did it) subnet: (seek help) default router: whatever your router address is - primary DNS: (seek help) 2nd DNS: (seek help) that will have you static IP setup on your PS3. now test the connection and see if it works. so then, go into your admin on ya router admin page and check the ps3 (device) is the same as that static ip address then make sure under that device, the application you have set up (FIFA 09) is added, and enabled. then boot up fifa 09 and start totally from scratch. (in your new user) if it works in this new user, it should work in your old one bearing in mind you have had to delete ALL the old data b4 you did any of this... Now i know many of you out there know more about this than me, but i am just genuinely trying to help. this may not work for you, but it defiantly did for me. i could connect to like, ONE in 25 attempts at an online match and interactive leagues didnt work at all. now i havent had a single problem since... i really do hope this helps guys. and i hope im not out of my depth posting this. fifa should not be this complicated to play online. i know many people dont have a problem, but soooooo many do. and it frustrated the heck out of me and seeing as EA dont come on and give any solution, i was damn well appreciative of the guy that helped me get this sorted, so respect to JWheazy cheers guys matt

Static IP works as this guy says, I'm too on a homehub with a PS3 and wasnt untill a few boots later i realised all the ports id opened werent assigned to my PS3 anymore. Simple thing that had been overlooked.
Once static IP had been setup for my ps3 and id created a new application sharing setup for fifa 09 its been fine since. Great post btw

OK, the 360 is very easy to solve. a hell of alot easier than the PS3. 1st thing you guys need to do is set up a static IP on your xbox 360. you will have to go into your network settings. IP address - xxx.xxx.xxx.130 - same as your router address, but change the last 3 numbers to 130 subnet - 255.255.255.0 gateway - xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx - this is your router address. primary DNS - 4.2.2.4 secondary DNS - 4.2.2.3 just enter in these numbers and they will work fine now you have a static IP setup, you will need to forward your ports. figure out your router address- linksys is 168.192.1.1 and so is netgear i think enter in that number into your web browser address bar and it will bring up a login page username : admin password : admin those are normally the default username & passwords. if you changed them and forgot, just reset your router. now you need to go to PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall to get the specifics on your router and how to forward the ports. on xbox 360, the ports you need to forward are as follows: 88 TCP 3074 UDP/TCP (both) thats it, youre set up and good to go. youre NAT should be open. if you cant figure out your router AFTER looking through portforward.com, then tell me your router and i will walk you through it. PLEASE DONT PM ME. leave your info here and i will do my best to answer your questions. others may have the same problem that you are having, so they may find the info in this thread useful

I have had no issues apart from BAP online, I've tried to play a few times and it keeps saying session no longer available etc. Will EA fix this?

easier how? You're doing the exact same thing. Giving your PS3 a static IP and opening ports on your router is exactly the same as doing it for your 360.you don't have to delete game saves, create new account, etc. Once you have your router set up properly you're good to go. |

yes, that will work but for everything lse to work, you need to do what it says at the top of this thread. unless you have a 360, in that case, read j wheazy's post

PS3 you need to forward at least 10 lines of ports for fifa 09 alone. nowhere near as simple. then on top of that, you need to forward 6 lines just to get it from type 3 NAT to type 2. so for PS3, you have to look up the port numbers for the system, then you have to search the manual and input all the other ports. its a pain in the *** and i only have 10 lines available to forward ports on my router

i had a online issue with all ea games, i went onto my Home Hub, Set up every Device with a static IP, then i tunred of the DHCP server , and opend ports that are stated in the back ofthe manule.
to start with turn off every device, go into the home hub, delete all the devices on the devices list then, turn each device e.g ps3 on one at a time, each time rename the device to sommin relevant like ps3, set up the ps3 connection as a static IP, open the ports and choose ps3 on the list to open the port for and it will work perfectly |
