Basically, the majority of the guys at EA Sports don't have a vast amount of soccer knowledge, so therefore sometimes the games are unrealistic at points, contradictory, etc.

Did make a good game this year, though. Give them their props for that. I'll give it a 8.25 out of 10.(Huge fan of GameInformer, that's why the point something)

Default FIFA 09 referees

First off, great job EA! I'm loving the improved gameplay! I'm also glad to see that the ref has finally made it onto the pitch. I, being a ref myself, am glad that the officiating team seems to be spot-on with positioning and signals. (although I've only played 3 matches thus far) I do have some questions for the EA team though.

Does ref positioning play any part in the calls he makes? On a long ball over the top resulting in a 1 on 1 with the keeper, the ref should still be trailing play by at least 20-30 yds. Will this distance from the play be a factor in his ability to make a call?

Also, will fatigue from a boom-ball match play any factor on the ref's ability to stay with play?

Also, will takles off the ball and behind the ref be more likely to get missed? Will the AR be the one to make that call?

Thanks for any insight! Once again, great game EA!

yeah m8 maybe thy do need a little bit more respect but the EPL is the biggest league in the world n sunderland would gt a result against any greek team n to add to tht 4 EPL teams in semi final thts no coincidence m8 n italian league n spanish comes a close 2ed but for god sake MAN CITY gt robinho there is no player in the greek league thts any where near as gd as him or more to the point ronaldo is faster wiv the ball thn danny collins wiv out the ball n i am from sunderland n i will even admit tht come on u want christopher samba to be as fast as walcott n walcott to be as strong

thts because he was unknown and just made a name for himself recently n tht is why he is at a better league now too so EA are right n thy always are wiv ratings i mean u don't see sepp blatter always interfering wiv the greek league n trying to make lalalala league's lyk france germany catch thm up n for tht matter italian n th spanish league's are behind the EPL remember us were kick out of europe for doing the same thing b4 to dominating football !!!

Blimey, I think that would be taking the AI to another level. I tihnk FIFA 12 is the earliest you'll see any of this, if ever.

Is there any chance of a language pack for commentaries. I would be willing to buy it if need be. I think it should be included but whatever. Say 100 MS points or something. Thanks

I'm sorry for whom this might offend, but IMO Fifa 09 = lipstick on a pig. With exception to customized tactics, sorry, I guess I'm just not seeing the 250 gameplay improvements.

*Goalies are smarter while defending, but when throwing the ball on manual setting, they will very often throw the ball straight out of bounds for no good reason. Shouldn't the AI be letting a goalie know that L3 holding left should throw it to your defender on the left, not throw it out of bounds on the left?

*AI players still have Ballaphobia, they still back away from loose balls rather than gravitate towards them.

*sometimes the ball DOES feel like it's filled with helium, though the physics are ultimately better than anything else out.

*Even with assisted passing, non pressured players will consistently pass the ball directly to opposing team, even though there are more than enough open teammates.

*With autoswitching completely off, you get locked into a player when the ball ricochets off the crossbar and cannot switch to one of your players that is near the ball on it's way down. Instead you have to run after it with whatever player took the original shot or wait for it to bounce a few times by which time the other team has the ball.

last and most annoying of all
*Why should you have to hold L2 R2 to take players off the rails? I don't get the point of the rails, you should be able to overtake the AI automatically. I loose so many breaks cause my players slow down on lofted thru balls.

Overall you are all very right, IT is the best football game out, but so many of the little things that should have been fixed by now still aren't. I just hate myself for laying out $60 every time, always hearing how EA is going to get their act together and really put out a good game and how this and that is going to get fixed and it never does. I had such high hopes, ultimately very disappointed... again.

p.s. What is up with the DNF??? Why do other people quitting on me raise my DNF?? A little unfair I think.

My one thing that I'd really like to see is the lighting in the night games.

NIGHT GAMES ARE TOO DARK

There are some dark patches in the corner and near midfield around the sideline. I can hardly see my player when I get into these areas, and the field is nowhere near this dark in real life. The field should be evenly lit, not blotchy like they stadium has a $200 lighting system. This bothers me a lot. Other than that, FANTASTIC GAME!!

Again for good measure:

NIGHT GAMES ARE TOO DARK!!!

I'm not gonna trawl through 53 pages, so in summary do people know what is and isn't in the patch or has that kind of info not been released yet?

No they are "looking into it".

I just hope that Rutter understands that by fixing the 2 main issues that ruin the game he will be the guy who created the best football game ever(that coming from a PES veteran).
