lol at all the people saying they move to pes because they will have a champions league option, with mostly fake teams in it lol. Besides who cares what is called, is how the game plays...the fifa games have never had the champions league in it anyway...

Won't Fifa 09 have a Custom Tournament Option anyway. So if you wanted you could create a 32 team Tournament called the 'UEFA Champions League'. and have a Group stage then 2 leg knockout games just like the real thing.

Why? Ea made enough money making their extra CL games, why lose it by incorperating it into FIFA would lose money.

However incorporating CL into PES would mean more to Konami as it will give them 4 licenced Premier League clubs.

Does that mean every Champions League club in PES 2009 will have its real name and not a fake one.

No, they just have the rights to the name of the tournament and using the CL logos and such.
So whatever teams they don't have the license for, the CL tournament will have the fake team.

And for the last time, a fifa game has never had the CL in it, is always been called the ECC inside the fifa games... so this does not change fifa at all... it just won't be a second game later in the year with the CL tournament..

Well Konami don't have the FIFA license, I don't know why people think they do. They have certain licenses they can implement, but EA have all the licenses since their game is 'FIFA' = FIFPro licensed.

Champions League is a tournament on its own with it's own licensing. Much like the World Cup. I think Konami may be able to license more teams through the Champions League game, than the standard Pro Evolution Soccer franchise (obviously). This is naturally the reason of securing the Champions League license, so that they can bring some authentication to their product. Cause in that department EA have been laughing for years. It's only the gameplay that deemed worthy and even now, gamers whisper and claim EA beat Konami with FIFA 08 anyway! So no surprise Konami want a licensed game.

As for licensing, they'll still be nowhere near EA and the FIFA franchise. You know what will happen if Konami release a licensed Champions League game. EA will simply up the leagues and stadiums in their game.

I understand why this is quite a big deal to anyone who has a thing for Konami's game. But they are playing catch up against a company that has all the resources, money and connections. No chance.

NK.

On a side note, I hope Konami do get a better licensed product. It will force EA even further to make their game closer to simulation than ever before, since they won't be able to sit back and claim an exclusive licensed product with a Konami Champions League game on the shelves. Interesting...

Does this mean PES will now have official team names, kits etc(even outside of CL)?

No. UEFA will be pushing Konami to release a game, seperate from the PES yearly release, much like EA and their EURO 2008 game.

It's more profitable.

Loads of times ive heard people say PES is the most realistic football simulation on the planet. When i got PES 6, i was quite impressed. but playing PES 6 after Fifa 08 it seems ridiculous. awful, dire commentary, poor presentation, fast arcady gameplay, overly sensitive shooting system. In reviews ive heard the ball in PES 2008 feels even lighter, it must be ping pong soccer with fake teams in. maybe overly critical but doesnt look like im buying the CL game from Konami unless they improve signifiently.
