wen im down and not much time left i play a 2-3-5 formation
-----------------gk---------------
----------rcb--------lcb----------
---------------cdm-----------
---------rcm----------lcm---------
---------------cam-------------
-------rf-------------------lf
------------rs-------ls---------
this formation concetrates the game in the box,(not good for wing play), and can still defend ok(cdm will act as a third defender) a bit vulnerable on the wings though.

and you can change a lot of positions, the RCM can also be a CDM you can have him on the same position and the LCM can also be CAM so if you want this formation but you don't have the players for these positions just change them

Me to i to always use 3-5-2 :P

Tends to own people's faces with devastating counter attacks. 3 monster CBs (Micah Richards, JT and Cheillini) with Petr mopping up the long shots. Obi Mikel and Essien breaking up play, Lamps/Navas/Malouda attacking mids. Podolski and Drogba FTW!!

Killer. Pushes opponents thru the middle so they are blocked off by my 3 CBs and then CM launches assault on goal

You have it all Wrong!!!
I have been fiddling with the formation set up since the game was released. Finally I have a formation that beats all....................... I call it V5 which is based on a 5 man midfiled.
GK
RCB CB LCB

CM
CM CM
RWM LWM

CF
ST

By using the attacking runs have all players spring forward by two execpt the CB only use have with one arrow and all sprinting back 2 arrows for defence.

It works so well and if you are lucky enough to have a great CM like Mason its even more fun as he really can boss the midfiled and always has options available.

I've noticed that the RWB and LWB positions aren't used frequently...

Here's my formation:
---------GK---------
-----LB------RB-----
-LWB-----------RWB-
---------CM---------
--------CAM --------
---LCAM----RCAM---
------LF----RF------

I also like to play with CF and ST positions instead of the LF and RF positions respectively, to make a little more play before finishing off. You've got 5 people attacking, 7, if we count the wingbacks which also come all the way up to the other side to aid.

Only weak point may be counter attacks. I've learned to overcome that with the CM and LB/RB, with a ton of practice, learning how to tackle/slide tackle well, and take out my GK right in time to stop them. One way, if the attacker flew by, is to make one of your defenders drag him to slow him down, giving the GK time to snatch the ball from him. Must be synced or you can give away a penalty.

Yes, hardly anyone plays with 4 defenders! Do yous bother with man marking? Because most opposition play with 2 strikers and then 2 wingers! I think I would give away goals waaaayy too easy with only 3 CBs

Or they play with one striker, two wingers, and an att midfielder. Best feature of the wingbacks is that they can be as effective defending as they are attacking. But they must be fast or, as I said before, you can be in trouble during counterattacks.

I don't bother with man marking or using on field tactics with the control pad. :P

lol I don't 'manmark' either. I use zone marking. Much more effective.

I also never draw back. I'm in an attacking position throughout the 90 mins, no matter the situation, even if I'm against a team that threatens to score any minute and I was just able to score one goal. Puts heavy pressure on the opposing team. With such an intense attack I was able to pwn Inter 8-0 last night, as a retaliation for the 4-0 we suffered on Saturday.

I always have 4 at the back
My defense seems exposed when I only have 3 of them, although I must admit my team often do better when I have a defender sent off and only have 3 in defense
