Default Patches

Greetings FIFA 09 pc players. I bring news from the team regarding the new patch:

Here are the fixes:

1. Match Difficulty:
We have looked into this issue reported by the FIFA community and found the online difficulty level to be too low. We have increased the difficulty of Ranked matches from Semi-Pro to World Class, which should make for some more exciting online matches. For Unranked matches, users continue to have the option of setting the difficulty level themselves.

2. Loss when opponent quits:

We have also looked into this issue reported by the FIFA community and discovered that users were receiving a loss when their opponent quit the match if they did not accept the pop-up and return to the main menu quickly enough. This was an issue with when match reports were being sent by the game to the EA servers, and has been addressed in the patch – once an opponent quits, both users will send a match report to the server immediately.

3. adidas Live Season – All Leagues bundle purchases:

Users who had originally purchased the adidas Live Season bundle through the EA Store were not seeing the game reflect this purchase, and could not download the form files for all the leagues. This has been addressed in the patch, in EA Store and by our CS team. Now all users who purchase any of the leagues should see this purchase reflected properly in the game, and will be able to use adidas Live Season form throughout the year.

4. Update to Digital Rights Management (DRM) package:In recognition of your feedback regarding DRM and SecuROM, we have amended the FIFA 09 DRM package with Patch #2, such that a user can now “de-authorize” a PC if they would like to un-install the game from it. This is a system that is very similar to iTunes which allows for de-authorizations of computers they no longer want to use.

For example, let’s say a gamer has installed FIFA 09 on his/her home PC and work PC, using two out of five authorizations available. Then let’s say he/she decides to buy a new PC for home, and would like to install FIFA 09 on the new PC and no longer needs to play the game on the old one.
Now, With Patch #2, any gamer can un-install the game from his/her old PC and de-authorize that PC, so he/she is again at two out of five authorizations.

To de-authorize a PC:
Run the file deauthorize.bat located in the install directory (for example, C:\Program Files\EA Sports\FIFA 09).

Notes:
The user can run deauthorize.bat at any time, even without uninstalling their FIFA 09 PC version (thus decreasing by 1 the number of authorizations). However, when they try to launch the game

again, DRM will run again and will authorize that PC again (thus increasing by 1 the number of authorizations).

Thanks, Aurora. Nothing done about core bugs, such as team mate collisions, ball through bar, etc (as they also affect online)?

Looks like I'm the only one who isn't completely happy (!)

finally some infos. now it will be nice to fix that lalalala of EADM so that people can download this new lalalala called patch 2 which fixes only 1 major issue (world class difficulty in ranked online matches) and partialy fixes online quititng.

Other things fixed by this patch its not so important becaue how many people really need to re-authorized and to install game on a new PC more then 5 times.

Considering what all bugs, problems, mistakes... this game has, this is just pathetic.

That's because you were far too hopeful expecting offline bug-fixes too... They have never made core changes to gameplay and graphics etc. after release for some reason Oh well, whatever the reason is you have at least learnt one thing - to lower your expectations!

Agreed. First, EA alienate all PC users, now they're just alienating offline players who's favourite mode is Management Mode.

I'm also utterly disappointment. You call that a patch? All they did was increase the difficulty level, that must have taken like what...10 lines of code?

One of your main selling points for the PC users was the new control scheme, and how incredible it would be playing with the mouse, and it's impossible to shoot shots high when playing with the mouse and you don't address that? You could have fixed major gameplay bugs but you didn't even care to address a single one of them.

UTTERLY DISAPPOINTED. Good for you guys who play this game online. I have a 1mbit/sec connection and it's not good enough to play online, as whatever button i press the command is being carried out like a second or two later by my player in the game, so this results in me playing like lalalala.

Next year no Fifa 2010 for me. You don't care about me as a customer so I don't care about your games either any longer.

Don't know how you figure that one I don't feel alienated - they fixed the most pressing issue I think... It happens to not be relevant for me because I don't play online, but I'm not broken up about it Yes, it would have been nice if they fixed the crossbar thing and some of the sillier bugs like when your players go stand behind the goal - but these hardly ever even happen and are tiny by comparison...

Its still a pretty good game

Thanks for addressing the most pressing issue, online ranked matches, good to know that our concerns are being heard. This was killing the game for those of us who play online and to your credit you have listened and changed it. Thanks.

Apparently, the players are bumping into each other less online, so I'd think it would be the same offline as well; they use the same code, don't they? If that's so, then I'm moderately happy with the patch.

@Autogoal: Give the game a go, forget legendary this and that and just set it to World class/world class. Load up a Man Utd v Barcelona and vive la difference! It is so much better now, it appears EA might have fixed the other difficulty levels and massively improved world class. Watch out for Messi, eh?

I thought they may have at least gave the scottish club online league the correct country flag of scotland (st andrews cross) instead of the union jack which is more associated with england nowdays, i know it really combines the flag of england, scotland and northern ireland, but most people see the union jack as english if they are from any other part of the world.

Its lalalala as they even had that stupid detail fixed in fifa08, but for some strange reason not in 09, i think the guys that sit and make this game must live in alaska or summit, they have no clue, and for me its an insult not to have my scottish flag as it should be, might seem a small issue to some people, but its a massive issue to me.
