So, once Hamachi is set up, then what? You would start a LAN game?

Hamachi emulate a virtual LAN (Local area Network). It does not help people to play the "online mode" in FIFA 09, it just help to play with someone over the LAN even if you don't have a LAN (by using the Internet).
So, to make-it clear. If you DON't have the original copy you CAN: Play Multiplayer IP2IP (no hamachi needed) Play Multiplayer LAN (if you have a LAN or using Hamachi) but you CAN'T: Play Online Mode - requires EA Account Download Updates - (not sure about that but i think it also requires EA Account) and this is my personal experience speaking - i used torrent version but bought the game afterall for the online mode tired of seeking for ip2ip game partners (yes, i'm not that social )
