Default So, should I buy Fifa09 PC or not?

I live in the U.S, so the game comes out next week. Now, after spending hours on this forum reading others opinions on fifa 09 PC, really, should I spend $40 bucks on this game or wait for fifa2010 or even 2011? How is the online lag? Has Ea find a way to punish online quitters? Is the stupid corner bug (the one where you score easily from a corner kick) fixed? Does everyone still pick barcelona and kill you with Etoo's super speedy runs (offside trap never seemed to work against this guy, i was so scared of Etoo in past versions)? What about the robotic moves that make the game so unrealistic? if these bugs are still there, I probably have no choice but go with a company that starts with a K... KFC?

Yes there is no longer corner bug! And ALT+F4 no longer works which is great news If your opponent uses alt+F4 he will get a straight loss that too will be the same if you try to quit using alt+f4.
Glad that corner bug finally doesn't work! Every player now has a loss in their stats even the number one player in the top leader board rankings! There are no more players like "satanthehitman" exploiting which is a very good news because that indicates that the cheating is now being stopped!
Personally I think its worth it! No not everyone picks barcelona because now theres live season update meaning that all teams are very strong most players in each team that are good have 90+ which is a very good thing. The live season update increases the form of the player every week! Online is very smooth and there's hardly any lag. I played some what over 50 games online and have had only 1 serious lag problem with an opponent. Etoo no longer is that superior he falls to 84 or something but dunno how he is with the live season update as I don't have the BBVA Spanish League live season update.

Personally I think you should get it because overall is much better than FIFA 08 many bugs have been resolved. Although gameplay has little change there are 350 plus new animations and 32 new skill moves. Skill moves are easier to make. Goal keeper not a king any more like it useto be

The only major bug is the controller one. Thats it. There are a few minor's, but every game has minor bugs. Most people moaning about them tend to be the elitist jerk side of the gaming market, who expect everything to be pefect because they spent a few quid/dollars. The game is great, few things could be better, but they dont ruin the game. Its truly a Fifa game that is honestly just as good as Pro Evo on gameplay. Manager Mode kicks *** however

Oh yeah, if you play Online, that kinda sucks, Keepers are terrible online, but then again, I never play online.

Actually it's 32 in total apparently only 4 are new (heel-to-heel, step-over roll, rainbow flick and scoop turn)

To OP: Yeah, I'd buy it if you want to play mostly offline - but you sound like you're an online player, and there are apparently many problems with the online mode

There is no controller issue! Don't misguide, if you have a gamepad like the Logitech ual Action you will NOT have any problems with FIFA 09!!!!
Keepers are terrible but not that terrible plus in 08 it was frustrating that goal keepers were super kings saving everything.
Online is certainly fixed no more quitters capitalizing. Only probs are that the lobbies are kinda bad and no online tournamentsbut the rest is ok

I only buy Fifa games to play online, thats why all my questions were related to online lag and other bugs. I rarely play manager-mode, only when im truly bored and wanted to see the animations of winning a cup or the league.. but thanks for the comment. Thank god they fixed the long ball to etoo run, it was almost impossible to prevent those goals.

There is no lag with it trust me. Although I've been quite negative with FIFA 09 there's definetly no lag such in online unless your opponent uses dial up!
And yes teres more defending defenders anligned in such a way that the long balls are very difficult to exploit! I meant thanks God Corner bug is fixed! That was the 2nd biggest problem after the quitters in 08 thats apparently resolved if you try to hit the crossbar the ball will fly wide or hit the roof of the net it really isn't possible. although I myself useto exploit it in 08 I can no longer use corner bug in 09

I'm a casual gamer from the US. I'm getting the game from amazon.com in a few days because I haven't updated since FIFA 06 and I don't play online. Therefore, the fact that the commentary is the same as FIFA 08 is fine with me, and playing with the keyboard/mouse combo sounds like fun.

I think if you're as passionate as many here, and you want a good online experience, you'll be disappointed, but if, like me, you can forgive a few flaws and you're only interested in playing for fun against the computer, then the game will be a good investment.

Actually the online isn't that bad because I played somewhat over 50 games online and have been cheated twice by some quitters who managed to steal my points. but I figured how to avoid being robbed! Simply exit extremely fast within 2 seconds after your opponent quits and you'll get the win and points! If you delay 6 seconds then your opponent may steal your points. Beaware of that. Apart from the 2 of those quits I have not had a problem later on so I am not all that disapointed from the online experience. But if you want proper online gaming get Crysis Warhead the online system there is wonderful!

If you get to install the FIFA 09 patch your ready to go on to play online theres no problem. The people here who are complaining are the ones who havent opened their ports and allowed firewall to allow fifa 09 to play online. And also the same applies to some people who havent been able to download the patch thats why people are disapointed. But don't let yourself confused. Hundreds of people are in this forum and all say differently and have different opinions.

Lol, my computer could not stand Crysis, im still stuck with FPS games like Counter strike which is a 9 year old game... although i can play fifa with medium settings and no loss of fps. I dont have a job right now, so I can really only afford to buy 1 single game, and im in love with football, so its all between PES2009 or Fifa09 pc.

I liked that the keepers were so hard. Scoring was an accomplishment in 08. While it is a matter of point and click in 09. I've had games where the shots on goal were 12 and scored goals were 11. Arcade or realism, you tell me...

So if you complain about obvious flaws in the game you are either a noob or a "crybebie". Brilliant logic.

There is one other major bug. If you make a winger sprint the length of the pitch, he'll be half dead for the rest of the match, especially with lower league sides. In real life, they go up and down the wings for 90mins, no problem. Even in the Championship and below! As I said before, if these players had shown this fitness level in real life, they would never have got past their first trial as kids.

I would say it's worth getting, but get yourself a Legendary mode expander/unlocker, as the other levels don't press you for the ball, the keepers are rubbish and shooting from long range is a formality.

I was in Spain when the game came out back home in England, like you i was excited about getting home and being able to play it (different cirumstances here obviously) but anyway when i got home at first i was please (you will see this if you read my comments at the time) but as i got more and more into the game it started to feel more and more like fifa 08. Anyway, today i ended up downloading the PES demo and i have to say that player movements and everything beat fifa hands down this year the gameplay is ten times better. If i were you i'd wait for PES to come out on the pc however if you don't like PES then by all means buy fifa 09 but don't set your expectations too high like the dude that can't spell said earlier on in the thread. Fifa 09 will be best on console but this year taking my opinions from the demo PES will be the better option for PC gamers.

I live 5 minutes away from a BestBuy store, which means it will take me about 15 minutes to get the game and another 5 to install it. My way is faster! I've played the demo, feels almost the same as 08. I think i will be waiting for PES, unless they have not fixed their online super lag. I'm a fifa fan too, but hey, EA aint treating me like a customer so why should I buy their games. I dont really like PES but its still better than that robotic movements from Fifa PC.
