How can anyone say this demo is good. This demo is Fifa 08 with additional features. They haven't even bothered to texture the players properly, they added '3d grass' A very very poorly controlled Be A Pro and expect to excite us loyal pc players? How dare they. I am extremely polished, this 'demo' isn't even polished enough for a 'demonstration' of the game. They also try to excite us by adding 'widgets', Who the HELL, would look at a video of a Fifa game, hear the game has widgets and get excited, I really hope Developers look at this and realise they really need to start changing the whole PC version of Fifa altogether and not add 'new features' such as 3d Grass. The 3d Grass isn't even visible in some camera modes. Gameplay is very very poor, and I really prefer Fifa 08's gameplay to this lalalala. I have been buying a Fifa game for PC since 2003 and I have been staying loyal to EA sports hoping they will change the main dynamics of the game, but no, It's the same game dynamics from 2005. And they try to lie to us, saying they added 350 collision animations. What a load of BullS***. I tested Didier Drogba against a small player in many ways, and I see no difference to Fifa 08. Sham. Mouse controls are very difficult to understand and do not provide any enjoyment to me the player. If I were the PC developer I really would not release this. I would work on a revamped Next-Generation version on the PC, not using any Fifa 08 assets, or Fifa 2005 for that matter, and release Fifa 10 for next year. You may think, they might as well release it. But no, many other people like myself are experiencing the exact same woe's and you are losing customers. Excite us by scrapping Fifa 09 altogether and release a new Fifa next year. We can wait, if your a loyal fan like me, then you can wait. Take my serious advice EA. Scrap Fifa 09. It's not working. Redo Fifa on the PC and take that demo piece of lalalala offline.

Overall: 0/10.

My feeling after playing the demo is generally positive.

The Good:
  • The player models and the pitch are both absolutely stunning, especially when you zoom out to the broadcast camera angle. It looks almost real; anything that makes my GeForce 8800 GTX OC run slow gets a thumbs up in my book.
  • The new collision system is...interesting. Some of the animations are really cool when you first see them, especially when you upend someone from behind or jostle with them at a corner.
  • The game feels more fluid than both FIFA 08 and EURO 2008. I feel like I have more control over my player.
  • The mouse control is hard. But in a good way. When I lose a match because I don't know how to use the mouse control properly, it's my fault, not the game's, and I like that.
  • The CPU doesn't go into invincible mode when you score a goal! Wahey!
  • The new menu layout is sharp and nice. Definitely a step up from 08.
  • And the crowd! Yes, the crowd, it's the one from World Cup 2006, innit? Very good.
The Bad:
  • Collision system aside, there aren't enough new animations. I see the same one-touch passing animation three plays in a row and I can't help but think "...Haven't we been here before?".
Nitpicking:
  • The referee doesn't do anything, nor do the linesmen.
  • When you see the players in the tunnel before a match, you can see them sweating. This is understandable if it's a hot, sunny day, but not when I've got the weather conditions set to 'Winter'.
  • Is it me, or does Didier Drogba's forehead look freaking huge?

yes...it's great...i mean...the graphics are awesome... smooth gameplay, but...the bad side of 09' is : the goal nets, and the crowd

Here is my verdict

Graphics are very nice compared to 08
Shots much improved ( when you press right it actually shots right not in the middile of the goal like in 08 sometimes )
Gameplay is very smooth unlike 08 where you could hardly properly control the players
Player coallisions and goalkeeper smoothness is better too

AI is still a bit so so , it should use more wing play , it should sometimes decide to shot outside the box when there are lots of defenders instead of running directly into a defender...etc
Next generation crowd and everything , but this will probably be in 2010
And overall it can still improve gameplay and graphical wise on some fifa 08 NG or something.

BTW some people here are biaching about things like game speed and goalkeeper skill which you can set to whatever you want, completly doesn't make any sense.
Pretty decent!?! Are you jocking?! only player collisions are good. All the rest is like fifa 08, except graphics. It's nothing compared to pes. Definitely not worth buying for me.

EA Please take note:-

After playing fifa since the mid 90's, this looks to be the best version to date, however,

Yes the graphics have been improved, (about time!) but not enough, come on, add some AA on there and more animation, why not have an ultra setting, with all the latest shaders and effects that can be put into games these days, the crowd is awfull, again. The PC is way ahead of its consoles in terms of processing and graphic power. All PC players have been looking forward to this version after EA have promissed next gen graphics, i hope they get this right before going gold.
Sidewinder game pad, cannot map all of the buttons, example, button A use to use for lob ball, and slide tackle, now it will only map as lob ball, and if i select slide tackle, it will not map to anything?

Thankyou.

after playing two games i only have two comments for now: what's up with the weird keyboard controls?

and... can you still select your own keeper when, for example, in one-on-one situations?

a few more comments: it's too easy to score, i just scored with a header from ronaldinho... the ball just squeezed through peter chech's hands... really, the keepers are terrible...

players move really really funny... which is not a good thing, mind you :d

the gamespee is too fast and thus unrealistic... i hope this is a "fast" or "very fast" setting...

the demo fifa 09 is really nice .. the gameplay has improved in every point of view ... shots, head shots, realism, physicality, dribbling, changes of direction .. etc. .. and also the graphics really fantastic .. I was very impressed ... db very broad .. roses large ... and players closely resembling .. years that were not remained so impressed by fifa ... .. hossack excellent work continues.

single defect: the triad arbitration which I think very absent and little animated ..and cinematics are the same as those of 08, hope will be improved next year

rating: 8 / 10

I haven't been playing fifa since PES introduction into the PC scene. I always download the demos to try the games and always read a lot of reviews on both games.

I have waited till 1am for the demo to finish downloading in order to try Fifa 09 for PC. I thought it was going to be like the 360 version since they are very similar systems. BUTT..

Great disappointment!! I cannot even believe that EA has done this. Come on guys don't say fifa 09 for PC is good, look at the 360 version at least and tell me the specs guys. It could have been better if they ported the game to PC. Are they seriously thinking that this game is any good? Even PES 5/6 and Fifa 2005 is better and it was not released in 2008.

Obviously EA wants to sell games that is why the PC version is lalalala since piracy is involved but piracy does happen also on consoles. At least there will be PES 09 again this year to cover up.

For now PES all the way since EA does not care much, and please do not say the contrary as you may be a fanboy.

Play only the best.
